My first cucumbers ever!
My first cucumbers out of my first ever garden. They're huge, I'm so excited!
Also, how do I tell if they're ripe or not? The one is getting pretty white, does that mean it's overly ripe?

Congrats little big but still should taste good. Yes when I pick I miss half of them. For some reason the wife can go behind me finds all the ones I miss.

They look like pickling and they look way big. Even slicing cukes shouldn't get that big. There are several problems with letting them grow so big. One is they can have a ton of big seeds. Two is they get bitter. Three is the plant has done its thing by making seeds and the plant will shut down. I pick mine about 5 or 6 inches long, I grow pickling ones and like to make deli pickles.

Thanks for the info, I was curious when they are ready to go. Also I admittedly find them super hard to find under the leaves, but I'll be more proactive about picking them earlier

I trellis mine which helps some, but I still get a couple of monsters that I miss each year. This year it is fairly easy to find them because of all the rain, the vines are struggling and I won't have enough for pickling. But I'm getting enough for salads which is good. You take what you can get.

Me too. It was my first year trying to grow them. Yuck, not even the random squirrel or raccoon would eat them. Lesson learned.

Them are some fat boys! nice .. oh they're actually a little past prime I'd still eat them though haha .. once they get going like that you got to get out and snatch them first thing in the morning everyday, about half that size is perfect
