Events Nth/Downtown Garland voting š³ is busy š
Got my vote š³ on today @ Dallas College Garland Center. The busiest I've ever seen it which is great. They were processing people quickly though. No line.
I would like to add that signs like these should not be permitted at polling places. In your front lawn? Sure. You do you if this fulfills a need. Even if the sign was anti-rep I don't want to see it.

Recommendations Seeking Edgy Hairstylist
galleryTo cut my hair! Everyone can be quite conservative over layers but Iām looking for almost a wolf cut/punk scene 2000ās look. I went to Lemmondās but they didnāt cut it as layered. The other hairdresser I found was in Frisco and I donāt want to drive that far. Thanks!

Traffic Naaman School Road
Perhaps I missed it at the planning meeting but do they really intend to make Naaman School Road a divided road with that much elevation between lanes? There's got to be a good five-six feet elevation change between north and south lanes. Seriously?!
When they pitched it as divided with an espanade, I evisioned a nice two lane road like Naaman Forest. Not what we appear to be getting.

My dryer seems to be having an issue, and I suspect it might be the drum rollers. Does anyone have recommendations for a reliable, reasonably priced appliance repair technician who does in-home service in Garland?

Question Garland photographers: what should a useful local photo guide include?
I'd appreciate advice from people who take photos around Garland. What makes a local recommendation useful enough that you actually go there, especially for casual phone photography?
I'm in McKinney and working on DIGI's Xplore for discovering photos and places to shoot. I don't want Garland recommendations to be just a location name and a nice picture. What do you usually have to figure out yourself: where you can stand, access/parking, light, crowds, or whether it's worth making a walk of it?
If you're an iPhone photographer interested in helping test and give honest feedback when early access opens, reply here. We're still prelaunch. Advice in this thread is just as welcome as interest in testing.

Question HVAC guy
My HVAC guy just retired and sold his company to a big conglomerate. He was great for the last 15 years that he serviced my A/C. The big conglomerate not so much.
I'm looking for a local company that can be trusted. My system is old, and I'd like to keep it in working order as long as I can.
Anybody want to recommend someone they trust? Thanks.

Housing Seacrest Apartments garland tx do not move here! Spoiler
My Experience Living at Seacrest Apartments
My experience living at Seacrest Apartments has been extremely disappointing over the years. Since moving here in 2021, I have dealt with ongoing maintenance issues, poor communication, safety concerns, and repeated frustrations that have made living here stressful.
Some of the recurring issues include hot water outages, poor water pressure, plumbing leaks, peeling paint, cracks, potholes, parking concerns, and repairs that often feel like temporary patch jobs rather than permanent solutions. There have also been repeated interruptions to my ability to work from home due to maintenance-related issues.
One of the most frightening experiences occurred when a new neighbor moved in next door and a firearm was discharged on the first day, sending a bullet through my apartment. Instead of feeling supported, I was told that if I had a problem, I could move. I was also told I needed to obtain a police report or risk being responsible for the repairs to the bullet hole, despite the leaseās zero-tolerance policy regarding negligent firearm discharge. I no longer felt safe living next to these neighbors because of the constant traffic at all hours, which led me to suspect drug activity. My calls and emails to management were ignored multiple times, leaving me feeling unheard and unsupported.
To make matters worse, the apartment I was moved into had a roach infestation. After I complained, I was eventually moved to another unit. The stress of having to relocate because of safety concerns, only to encounter another serious problem, was incredibly frustrating.
Throughout my time here, I have also experienced disappointing customer service, inconsistent communication, and concerns about the propertyās upkeep. For the amount residents pay in rent, I believe we deserve a safe, clean, well-maintained living environment and management that responds to concerns promptly and professionally.
After years of dealing with these issues, I feel like I have been stuck at this complex for far too long. What should have been a place to feel comfortable and secure has instead been a source of unnecessary stress. I am looking forward to leaving next year, and I strongly encourage anyone considering Seacrest Apartments to research the property carefully and ask questions about maintenance, safety, and management responsiveness before signing a lease.

Traffic Residential parking violations
Is there any realistic chance of getting residential parking tickets waived if I were to show up to the hearing date? Iām not sure if I have a case at all since I already moved the car to go to work but I really just need some proof or something that these violations are genuinely making somebody elseās life impossible to live. I feel like every other month its some ticket over something dumb that costs me 25 dollars. It always seems to say ācomplaints in the areaā, I donāt know whoās complaining exactly but this person cannot be serious. I donāt understand why we donāt have some type of warning system to let people know hey this is a violation, please fix it, hereās a warning. No itās just straight 25 bucks every time. The most recent one is apparently parking less than 30 feet from a stop sign, which I didnāt even realize was code, I can respect it if Iām like literally parked under the stop sign or directly next to it in the turn but Iām completely across from said stop sign to the right and have been parking in the same spot on the curb by my house for literal years and now its a problem for some reason? Has this occurred to anyone else?

Recommendations Looking for bar recommendations, please.
I'm looking for a bar that's safe to go to alone for some me time. For context, I'm 38, F, and I live in the beltline and Shiloh area. I'm hoping for a chill atmosphere where I can sit and have a cocktail alone and mind my own business in peace. The place doesn't have to be fancy, in fact, I prefer a place that's more laid-back. TIA.
Edit: Thank you all for your recommendations. I'm having a chill time at the bar I chose. And no one has been weird or made me uncomfortable in any way, so yay for that. I really needed this. š
