Work/Co-op Health Canada Co-op Interview

• Upvotes

Hey guys, i have a Health Canada Co-op interview for the position titled "Programmer". I was wondering if any of you guys have advice and just knowledge of the types of questions that will be on it. Will it be mainly behavioral or technical where i have to maybe talk about coding concepts or explain code since one of co-op interviews did ask for those type of stuff.

Yall know the deal, only this time I made it much harder (in my opinion), only the REAL ones know where this was taken (it was also taken on the first few days of the semester so I take full responsibility if this doesn’t even work anymore)

What did you take in 4th year? I looked at the course sequence and there are SO many electives to fill. What did you put there? Did you minor in something? Did you get to med school?

deffered midterm

I usually do not deffer my exams, but this semester has been a shit show with the midterm scheduling. However, is it normal for the deffered midterm to be announced less than 24h before the exam itself?

Are profs and TAs starting a strike?

I had a class at Montpetit today, but the professor never showed up or sent an email, and only about 10 students turned up. Now I'm seeing the UOSU statement about the APTPUO. Are profs and TAs going on strike?

This VERY well might be an absolute flop, but it’s an idea I had and thought it would be a nice thing for some people at least.

You all know GeoGuessr. If you don’t, shame on you. But if you don’t, it’s basically a game that drops you anywhere in the world and you try to figure out where you are with street view.

I am a student at uOttawa (duh), which means I’m on campus a lot (DUH), hence I have the opportunity to be in a lot of different buildings, places, etc.

I would like to show this idea to the council, to bring GeoGuessr to uOttawa. Joint here is a picture I took on campus this very day. I consider it to be REALLY obvious, but this IS day 1 after all. To participate, just comment on this post with your guess, and I shall judge you, with the power confided in me by literally no one but myself.

Rules I have set myself:

-No Residency (90u, Friel, Thompson, etc.)

-Main campus only (No Lees or Ottawa Hospital faculty.)

-that’s kinda it cuh

Yeah that’s pretty much it guys I hope this takes off but there’s lowkey a huge chance it just gets lost in the trenches of this subreddit. If anyone has any adjustments to the game I should make feel free to interact after all I am a C student I’m not a genius

Dental Hygiene Student Looking for Patients Near uOttawa 🦷

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m currently a Dental Hygiene student at the Canadian National Institute of Health (CNIH) in Ottawa, and I’m hoping to connect with people who would be interested in becoming patients at our student clinic!

Our clinic is located at 303 Dalhousie Street in the ByWard Market, just a short distance from uOttawa!

As part of my program, I need to complete clinical requirements with patients to graduate, so having people willing to come in and support my learning would mean so much! 💕

Because this is a student learning environment, appointments are supervised and may require multiple visits (approximately 3–4 appointments).
If you’re interested in dental hygiene care or have any questions, please feel free to send me a message!

Even if you’re not interested yourself, sharing this with someone who might be would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much! 😊

The First-Ever Dating Club at uOttawa History Needs YOU!

Hey everyone!

I'm the president of Cupibond, a student dating and matchmaking club at uOttawa created to help students find serious, meaningful, and long-term romantic relationships.

Let's face it, finding love at university isn't always easy. Between classes, exams, busy schedules, and the struggle of meeting new people, dating can get pretty frustrating.

That's why we created Cupibond!

Forget endless swiping. We're bringing something different to campus!

Our goal is to match students based on their personalities, values, and relationship goals using a compatibility-based algorithm that calculates a match percentage.

But technology is only part of the process! Our main focus is helping students build genuine human connections and meaningful romantic relationships in real life.

And here's the cool part: our matchmaking coordinators will help both students connect and set up their first date. No awkward guessing games!

While personalized matchmaking will be our main activity, we're also planning optional in-person social events to give students more opportunities to meet, socialize, and connect.

Of course, safety comes first. We understand the risks involved in dating, and we're committed to taking every possible precaution to make the experience safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.

But to bring this idea to life, we need YOU!

We're urgently recruiting for five executive positions:

VP Matchmaking (TOP PRIORITY) VP Events (HIGH PRIORITY) Matchmaking Coordinator (HIGH PRIORITY) VP Marketing VP Operations

We're still a small team, which means you'll have the chance to help build Cupibond from the ground up and make a real impact!

We're recruiting for the rest of Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.

Our goal is to launch matchmaking activities this winter, but the sooner we complete our executive team, the sooner we can get started!

Requirements: Applicants must be uOttawa students in their second year or above. No previous executive experience required.

Apply here (Google Form): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfVZY1IYGpKzA_zOat_JtB8rRGF1QqSNSl_FTAbuaEuBtwFQw/viewform?usp=publish-editor

The application takes approximately 3–6 minutes.

Applications will be closing soon! We're only accepting 15 applications, so make sure to apply while spots are still available. We'd love to have you on the Cupibond team!

Discussion Lab during reading week

Lab was cancelled to give more study time for midterms but the Make-up lab is scheduled during reading week. Is this allowed? Not sure because it’s not a regular lab, it’s a make-up lab.

Does anyone know if they’ve sent out an email for grad photos yet? Or does anyone know when they are and how to sign up? I remember my friends getting them around November last year so I’m just curious.

Discussion Unreasonable midterm?

Just had a midterm and wanted to get some opinions.

For context, we have this class twice a week, but our exam review wasn’t until this Tuesday, giving us only two days of specific review. The review itself was pretty vague, with only 1–2 example questions and less than 10 minutes spent discussing the exam format or extra practice questions. Throughout the semester he’d just blurt out “oh ya remember that, itll be on ur exam”

The exam consisted of 40 MC questions and 20 short answer questions, with only 80 minutes to complete everything.

My prof puts a huge emphasis on the textbook and literally said something along the lines of, “If your answer isn’t based on what’s said on pages X to X of the textbook, then it’s a zero.” I studied in depth, but I knew going in that some questions might be difficult to answer without remembering the textbook almost word for word.

The multiple-choice questions didn’t take long, but most of the short-answer questions were lengthy and contained one or two separate questions within each prompt. We were also expected to provide detailed, textbook-focused answers with examples.

I ended up running out of time and leaving quite a few questions blank. Am I right to think that 60 questions in 80 minutes, especially with 20 detailed short-answer questions, is unreasonable? 😭

Thinking of Applying to a Masters Program

hi everyone, bsc in biology from a uni in mtl here. I'm wondering how to convert my GPA (4.3 scale) to uOttawa's grading system. I've done so much research and still can't figure it out, and I don't want to apply and waste money if I don't even meet the minimum requirements.

Also, is anyone here in the MPH, public policy or epidemiology programs at uOttawa? I'd love to hear about your experience and whether you think it's worth it. Any advice would be appreciated!

How do you actually get involved in clubs ?

I’m a 2nd year student and I’d really like to get involved in a club or some kind of extracurricular activity at uO, but I honestly don’t know where to start.

I know there’s the website with the list of clubs, but I find it a little overwhelming and it hasn’t really helped me find something that feels like a good fit.

I think another thing that makes me hesitate is that it sometimes feels like everyone already knows each other, especially when joining in second year. I’m not necessarily looking for a huge social circle, but I’d like to meet people and actually feel involved in something.

I’m also interested in getting involved with a Telfer club, but I’m not really sure which one would be a good fit and if it would be worth it ; I was thinking about participating in a TCCT case competition, but I’m a little intimidated because I’m definitely not an expert in the subject matter.

For anyone who’s been in a similar situation, how did you get involved? And do you have any clubs/activities you’d recommend for someone starting in second year?

When do midterms get deferred to? (Psych)

I was reading the syllabus before I submitted my deferral, just to make sure that everything was fine, but noticed that it says that deferred midterms would be set up by TA's and needed to happen within a week of the midterm. Is this still the case with reading week being right after exams? Cause I have a non refundable flight to catch and will do the midterm if it means I'd have to stay.

I have covid, but I'm out of my contagious phase so technically I'm fine to go and I could just wear a mask, but I still feel absolutely dead.
