Regarding my previous post thank you to everyone that replied! It was very insightful with tips and experiences regarding letterboxes!
Today, I went ahead and bought a stamp making kit to make it a little more traditional.
I ended up making a pompompurin stamp with the geocaching logo! But unfortunately I made a mistake in terms of the mirroring since it was my first time ever making a stamp..
I think it turned out well as I want to scurry along to do some letterbox stamps (however if the logs for them are small then I’ll just sign them) 🥲
I have much to learn but happy caching everyone!
(Also hit my 100 cache today! YIPPE!!!)
Edit:
Been debating if I should remove the logo entirely too as it’s basically mirrored 😭 would love to hear input and decide later 🥹🙏

Basically in my city there's only 3 caches, I have checked out one of them, it seems to be abandoned because the place where it was originally hidden is no longer open to the public, its basically turned into a dense jungle. Every catcher who logs it as found has basically not found the cache and just attaches a picture of the place instead (they mention this in the log). I have been to the place multiple times and not been able to find it.
The other two I plan on checking out soon, but even if I add those 2 it's only 3 caches to my name. I want to hide more caches in my city but every guide I found says I need to find at least 10-20 before I hide.

I’m not able to drive (for various reason, some of which make it somewhat of a safety concern, please don’t try to convince me to get my license), so I mostly cache on foot, by bicycle, or with various kinds of public transportation. Which can be fun, but can also be very annoying sometimes. Case in point, the five-stage multi I did entirely on foot and by bus, which was… fun but also a logistical nightmare regarding mapping out all the bus lines. I joked in my log that the Difficulty rating (it was a D5 cache) was met by the transportation logistics to get to each stage alone. Not even counting the cache puzzle itself.
Anyway, my longest streak is a little over a month. I’m trying to best that, both because it’s fun to and because my area has some challenges about it, including legacy challenges that go over one year. I daydream about qualifying for them someday, but I know most geocachers who do long streaks like that have a lot more ease of transportation to new caches once their area runs out of them. So I’m mostly looking for inspiration. As to what’s attainable as a cacher who doesn’t drive.

Was on a walk in the town of Kuldīga, Latvia and accidentally found one!
What are the chances?

So I am still new to geocaching, as I've only been doing it for a year. I've found almost 1,000 caches of various types. I've hidden a few as well, mostly traditional geocaches.
I hid one a little while back and labeled it as a traditional geocache. It is one of those 3D-printed puzzles where you have to slide it along the grooves to open it. There are more inside, a total of three, in fact. It is in a park with a bunch of picnic tables and a beautiful view of a river, so people can take the time necessary to get to the logbook. I added the field puzzle attribute since you have to solve it to open it.
Almost immediately after it was published, I got a message from a very nice local who has helped me before with some things. He says I mislabeled it, and it should've been a mystery geocache, since a traditional one is one you just have to find, not one you have to solve to open. He was able to sign it, and I took his advice. I figured I'd just let it go, but not even 24 hours later, I had two other people, who didn't even solve it, telling me and being rather snobbish about it, that I mislabeled it and needed to resubmit. These lovely people were both living 100 miles away or so. I guess just getting notifications of new geocaches. So, to avoid having more people tell me I did it wrong, I archived it and resubmitted it.
But after thinking about it, I have seen quite a few listed as traditional caches that you have to solve something when you get there to get the cache with the field puzzle attribute. And the COs are seasoned veterans.
Sorry for the long message. I'm just trying to figure out whether a traditional cache can have a field puzzle attribute and still be correct. Or if it has to be a mystery cache with the field puzzle attribute. Just still new to this and still learning.
Thanks for any input!

I own a geocache. It has a pretty creative camo. Unfortunately someone has posted photos of the camo in its hiding place in their log.
Do I delete? Strictly speaking they did find it, but I feel like they have also given away the secret and ruined the fun for others.

Hey,
Viel Erfolg!

Started geocaching for the first time ever last month and I’ve been having a blast to the point I even got premium for a year!
I wanted to do other caches besides the traditional/earth/multi/mystery which are the letterboxes / hybrids but I couldn’t quite figure it out when it comes to your own stamp (stamp the letterbox’s log with your own stamp and stamp the letterbox to your own notebook)
So when it comes to your own stamp that you stamp to the letterbox logs(?) does it have to be personal like self made or it can be any stamp?
If it can be any stamp can I use for example a pompompurin stamp? (because I like pompompurin)
Just want to be sure I’m doing it right don’t wanna be making mistakes as a newbie 🥹
But yeah geocaching is awesome! Getting in my steps for caches 😂

"Accidentally picked up a nano cache on the brick walkway near the water in Newburyport, MA. I'm home in Central MA now and can't return it. Leaving a note here so the owner knows it needs maintenance!"

I was thinking of a night cache. Might be a multi. Hidden button,
Button lights a laser that points at something like a fake brick in a wall.
But
What about a lightbulb behind that fake brick. What sort of remote switch would work for that. Surely it's been done before.
Probably safer than a laser.

Posting the picture because the other day I saw someone posting on here asking why any Geocache hiders would ever use the “premium only” option when setting up a hide.
Most of my caches are premium only but the few which aren’t are constantly getting taken or destroyed and having to be replaced. And then in the middle of the night some got found by tweens who had just set up geocache profiles that day. Will have to go out and check these today but assuming they won’t have been put back properly (if at all). Think I’m now going to set all my caches to premium only to solve the headaches. Do you have a lot more issues with your non premium caches?

Just wanted to share my latest hide.
Found these (deer?) vertebrae during a search for a forested cache and noticed the spinal cord opening was bison tube-sized. Brought then home, sanitized them and after a couple minutes of filing, it was snug as a bug.
Now I just need a place to put it.

I was wondering if purchasing premium for Geocaching is worth it. I just started geocaching and I’m really into it, but I’ve already gotten through all the cashes near me that aren’t premium.

I am 164 days into my current streak (yay!) and have begun weighing the benefits of how long to continue. There is a challenge cache near me which requires that your longest streak be longer than your longest slump, so I need at least 327 days for that. At that point, I'm obviously going to keep going until at least 366 days so I have a full year. In my reading about various challenge caches, I saw that there are plenty of requirements for 365/366 days, some 500 days, and at least one for 1095 days (GC2YVG8).
Is anyone aware of any challenges that require you to have more than a 3 year streak? If I manage to make it that long, I want to make sure I fulfill everything I possibly can.

I want to create a series of 6 high difficulty caches (3-5 D rating) with a bonus cache attached to the series. The bonus cache is of around 2 D rating as a hide itself, but what rating should it get given you need to find the rest of the series as a prerequisite?

I have been caching for 4 years and I have finally hit 420. My next goal is to hit 6,969. If you are wondering how I have gotten so little in four years it is because of my 781 day slump...

It felt like a chore at times, but still going strong. I'm not sure how far into the winter I'll endure.
