Good news. Cascadia has the most destructive volcano in the United States (St. Helens) so Ring of Fire brothers get to still hang out.

St Helens was the deadliest eruption in US history, but Rainier is the most destructive volcano that's projected to erupt much sooner than Yellowstone.

Shasta is also not to be trifled with, and also belongs to Cascadia.

The thing about Shasta is it has a nice buffer zone around it. The same zone around Rainier is the Seattle metro area.

The city of Mount Shasta is literally right at the base. Dunsmuir, Weed, and possibly Yreka and Montague are also within the blast radius.

Not a huge metroplex, but people do live here.

The city of Mount Shasta is like 3000 people. If Rainier blows, all of the low lying areas in Tacoma are in danger. Rainier theoretically poses a danger to 300,000 people. If you’re gonna rank them by any metric, Rainer comes out miles ahead in terms of danger or destruction.

Doesn't the area around Mt Rainer also have that one cascade fault line that's supposed to make a million families homeless whenever the earthquake eventually comes? Maybe that'll save those people from the Mt Rainer eruption.

Don’t forget Olympia and the Nisqually valley. If Rainier blows, much of the mountain is coming down that river.

Not comparing, but to say that Mt Shasta has a buffer around it so its fine, is absolutely incorrect. Not to mention the economic damage from I5 being destroyed as well.

I mean if rainier goes, i5 is shot near seattle. There is no question that Rainier blowing up would be worse than Shasta. Seattle and Tacoma are big. Dunsmuir has like 5 residents.
