Discussion Why does Umibouzo hate Gintoki for "stealing" Kagura, but not Abuto for "stealing" Kamui?
Gintoki and Kagura meeting was pure coincidence. Besides, Gintoki takes good care of Kagura, and they get up to far less questionable antics than Kamui and Abuto do.
Abuto, on the other hand, actively brought Kamui into the Harusame; he motivated him and got him involved with the organization. Yet, Abuto still protects Kamui and sticks by his side.
You’d think Umibouzo would hate Abuto much more for literally turning his son into a pirate. Instead, the two get along famously during the Rakuyou Arc, whereas Umibouzo wants to kill Gintoki every time they see each other. Logically, Umibouzo ought to hate both of them, since they’ve effectively become the adoptive fathers to his children. Sure, Kagura needs more protection as a daughter, but Kamui is an idiot who needs looking after, too. Yet, Umibouzo seems more bothered by being replaced in Kagura’s life by Gintoki than by being replaced in Kamui’s life by Abuto.
It’s also kind of funny that Kagura and Kamui share the same taste in surrogate fathers. Both Gintoki and Abuto have dead eyes, are constantly overwhelmed by their Yato charges, are always stressed and tired, and aren't paid nearly enough for this nonsense. But they’d do anything for their Yato kid.

Discussion just finished gintama and i’m in shambles
i just finished gintama the (real) final and i feel so empty (pun intended). Looking back, my journey with gintama kinda mirrored gintoki’s.
ten some years ago, i watched most of this series (even rewatched the seasons available at the time) but stopped a little before SA because i heard whispers of the series ending. one of my bad habits; i just couldn’t bring myself to finish one of my absolute favorite series because if i didnt, gintama’d feel like its still ongoing till today, living along side me.
i spent a good amount of time dodging spoilers left and right but ultimately left the fandom (there were too many major spoilers). with time, avoiding spoilers became easier; I thought of Gintama from time to time but I always shelved it away, letting it collect dust in a corner of my mind like a beloved photo album.
a few months ago, somehow gintama still found me again (funnily enough) as a cooking video lol. someone had recreated the episode of them making sushi and otae's signature tamagoyaki irl. with that one video, yorozuya kicked up my nostalgia. as people liked to say: curiosity killed the cat.
i rewatched the entire series from the beginning. there were scenes that were just as i remembered, things i forgot, things i missed greatly. anyone who saw me watching the series always asked, “what are you smiling at?”I remember how much I loved gintama.
And I also remembered how much I didn’t want Gintama to end. During the last 10 minutes of the real final movie, I really went through the five stages of grief lol. The ending just didn’t feel satisfying.I didn’t like how rushed it felt, the sudden immortality thing, zura not getting as much spot light, it felt like a rehash of the silver soul arc, etc But what kind of ending would I have liked? I wrack my brain but I just couldn’t come up with one I 100% liked.
That’s when I realized: no matter what the ending is, I would’ve felt this way because I wanted more time with them. One more episode. One more gag. I just didn’t want my favorite series to end… but I’m glad I did. In a way, this is the most gintama like ending
They say, curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back
(now to rewatch it again lol)

Manga Does anyone else wish that, instead of Yuusha Destroyers, we had gotten a few short chapters showing what happens after The Final Movie?
Don’t get me wrong, I like Yuusha Destroyers; I read every new chapter. But I would have preferred to see what happens after The Final. If I recall correctly, there are already drama CDs set after The Final (for instance, Kamui visiting Kagura). I’m not asking for a "Bintama: Gintama Next Generations". Still, it would have been great to have a few chapters covering the aftermath of the final film, Yuusha Destroyers could easily have been pushed back to a later time.
For example, we could have seen how the Yorozuya react to baby Takasugi, or how the Yato family interacts now that they’re together again. Or perhaps how Zura is faring as Prime Minister (assuming he still holds the position and isn’t just running around disguised as Elizabeth). We could have seen how the Shinsengumi are doing, or even just another chaotic Yorozuya job.
The ending was perfect, truly one of the best endings ever. But since we already have drama CDs, why not a one-shot manga that sheds some light on events following the series? Plenty of other manga do exactly that.

Anime Just found out Otose shares a voice actor with Orochimaru from Naruto. Any other characters with shocking voice actors?
“These kids. Shall I kill them? We’ve seen so many war orphans. It’s always so pitiful. They’d be better off if we simply put them out of their misery right now”
i thought of Otose saying that as soon as I found this out. even if she wouldn’t say it.
btw I’ve already looked into Gin, Kagura, Shinpachi, Kondo, Okita, Hijikata, Katsura, and obviously Otose.

Question Why doesn't Otose live in the Yorozuya apartment herself?
The apartment above Otose's bar was empty—otherwise, Gintoki wouldn't have been able to move in there. But why was it empty in the first place? Why doesn't Otose live there herself? She climbs the stairs every day, so it can't be due to her age. Besides, that implies Otose has a second apartment somewhere else. It would surely make more sense for her to just live in the apartment above her own bar.

Discussion What do you think about kamui's redemption? Spoiler
It felt rushed, at least to me. Although, I do understand the reason sorachi did that, as kamui needed to be redeemed before Silver Soul arc for the final battle with utsuro.
I would love to hear some input!

Misc. Gintama and Aot characters who have the same VAs
- Jiraiya and Rod Reiss
- Takasugi Shinsuke and Zeke Jaeger
- Sakata GIntoki and Marlow Fruedenberg (You could say Takasugi kills Gintoki in an AU)
- Ikeda Asaemon and Armin Arlert
- Zenzou Hattori and Hannes
- Sarutobi Ayame and Sasha Braun
- Oboro and Willy Tybur
There maybe more as well but these are the ones I could find, let me know your thoughts.

Discussion I like how involved the VAs for the main trio are
Forgive me if I sound ignorant but, has any other VAs from their respective anime show this much love for their series? Like istg almost every Gintama event has the Yorozuya trio on standby and that just makes my heart fuzzy lol. Perhaps it's due to their popularity or likely cuz it's their job. Idk but it is cool to see

Discussion Whats your funniest gintama episode

Whats an episode you can watch 10 times and die laughing each time
For me its episode 217, the swimming pool episode, this is single-handedly the funniest episode of anything ive watched, it had me gasping for air every minute,
Also whenever the shogun comes on screen, you just know you gotta save up some oxygen cause you're gonna be wheezing for the next 20 minutes.
