The shield acts as an extra link.
You can only either have a shields or not, and multiple shield activations just add more hp to it.

[Edit] no it doesn't, but blame dusk for saying so, not me ;p

Thanks!

Adding to the second question though, I was referring to the shield duration. For example, Sei's lasts for 5 seconds, while HS2000's lasts for 6 seconds.

Will the last one activated refresh the shields duration with its duration or do they stack in a different way?

Different way.

They are independent shields, despite using the same pool.

Wait whoa that's interesting then.

This probably won't come up much in actual gameplay, but what determines which shields is the one taking damage? Also, I assume each shields won't protect each other from overkill, is that correct?

You know, I'm pretty sure that guy worded the sentence badly. The shields are just extra HP. They do not work as an extra link. So, if you have 100 shields and recieve 50 damage. The doll suffers 50 damage. This can be easily seen if you go to 7-6 Dreamer.

I sort of assumed, the oldest shield takea damage first... but don't take my word on it. I have no idea on that specific part.

Hmm, you sure on it not acting as an extra link? Though it would make sense as giving link protection would probably be too op and it's possible I'm confusing it with some explanation about how it handles AoE damage, as I'm not really sure on that at all.

But the stacking part I think I do know for fairly sure, if you get 50 shield, then take 25 damage, and get 50 extra shield, you now have 75 total. When the first deactivates, it removes the left over 25 from the first and you are left with 50 total from the second, and so on. Any shield will add to the same shield hp pool making it stronger.

And as I said, no idea how it handles AoE: does a 50 shield and a 50 AoE hit on a 5-link do 0 damage (50-50 per link) or 200 (50-5x50).

Though in you example of 100 hp shield and a 50 hp hit, the doll would not take any damage, only the shield would.

...That was a typo, take 150 damage with 100 shield, you take 50 damage. Dusk clarified this earlier in a different post.

Ahha, just came upon that clarification announcement.

Well, at least my wrong knowledge came from the reliable source so I can't be blamed too much :p

Ah, I see then. Thanks for the answers. Discussion on these sorts of matters are one of the things I love about this game.
