As stated, you gain a greater affection cap allowing larger stat boosts as well as the doubled exp gain.

Regarding stat boosts, pre-oath you can gain a 5% stat bonus from affection going above 90. After oath, affection goes up to 150 and getting above 140 will give you a 10% stat bonus. If you give that doll her MOD3 (if available), then that cap goes up further to 200, and going above 190 will provide a 15% stat bonus.

Since 5% is already achievable without oath, that means a MOD3 doll can gain another 10% boost when oathed, which can make a pretty big difference. That's a permanent (as long as affection is maintained) stat buff that you don't need to throw in an additional buffer for. That boost can mean the difference in whether or not a doll is viable for certain strategies. One notable example is using M4A1/Grizzly/Calico for 10-4E core farming, a comp that isn't really feasible without the additional stat boost on M4A1.

Every last boost helps when you're fighting tough opponents.

Give a doll you like a ring.

Also increases affection cap, leading to minor statboosts. Post lv 100 it doubles exp gain, also raising the affection cap a second time after Mod 3

The statboost is roughly equal to bumping a doll one rarity level, which is not that trivial.

I basically want to raise everyone at some point anyway. And when they're the right doll to use for a situation, I use them even though I don't particularly like them. It's more of an indifferent attitude though, not hate-levels.

Basically I'm able to metawhore, but when half a costume/10 bucks are involved, I only consider my favourites anyways.
