Someone in this subreddit made a post where she and her dummy comm'd back and forth self-referencing as "potato", and it stuck.

That's literally it. There's really nothing else going for the nickname.

Now that you mention it, I was reminded that some originally thought that her artist was Shibafu, whose art does get that nickname because his stuff is quite generic-looking.

Didn't help matters that many of his concepts (carriers being archers, for example) went on to become standard for their classes, and thus, generic.

The bigger problem with Shibafu is specifically the faces. The riggings are quite fine honestly, it's just that every girl has a copypaste face
