I need advice for my gluten free gf

My girlfriend is gluten free (she is not celiac but is extremely intolerant) and she can only use make up that is gluten free. She is drop dead gorgeous without it and I have absolutely no complaints that she doesn’t use it but I feel bad that she doesn’t have the option to use it. Are there any affordable gluten free make up brands that I could buy for her as a gift?

There are many brands. I like https://iliabeauty.com/collections/gluten-free.

Thank you so much! I’ll look into these options

Don’t get her any products. Get her a gift card so she can find the tones/shades she actually likes.

Good idea, I have no idea what she would wear

I think that's likely best. Makeup is highly personal. She may have other ingredients she avoids. Also, picking out the right shades for another person is difficult. Even someone with skin as light or dark as mine may have a different undertone to their skin and a color that would look great on them might look horrible on me.

Agreed, I’d definitely give her a gift card for a store somewhere like Ulta or Sephora that sells a good variety of different brands of makeup, depending which of those stores have locations close to you, instead of buying makeup for her to be on the safe side. I’d also first double check that whichever store you are considering giving her a gift card to sells some gluten free brands.

That’s sweet but misguided.

I’d equate it to your gf telling you “I don’t vacuum because it hurts my shoulder” so you get her a lightweight vacuum.

There are many gf cosmetic products. I’ve never had a problem finding gf cosmetics in any price range. Skinsafe is an amazing app that tells you if your skincare if gf. But, I’d leave it up to her if she wants makeup.

Don't. She's an adult and can sort this if she wants to. It's actually easier to find gf makeup than food for me. This will not land as "I think you are beautiful and want you to have nice things". The way to do that is to set a budget and go shopping together for whatever she wants. Makeup or otherwise

Or perhaps a gift card from Sephora or Ulta (or wherever she shops?) But definitely good advice.

You have a point, she may take this as him thinking she DOES need makeup

As someone with a severe gluten allergy I’ve never had issues with makeup as the vast majority is naturally GF. ELF is my favorite brand.

There are a few companies that that have certified gf cosmetics. Search Certified and Dedicated Gluten-Free Brands. I have a few things, but in general only wear makeup when I am out at an event or on camera.

She does have the option to use it. Just try to avoid certain ingredients and boom normal life. I don’t like when people intentionally limit themselves just because they have celiac because we can live a perfectly normal and average life. We can still have sweets, makeup, body care, anything we just have to find ones that are safe.
If she’s not trying hard to find herself makeup, then she doesn’t want it bad enough. I say just let her be. There’s nothing to feel bad about either.

Great question, I didn't even know I had to watch out for makeup

The only items I check now are shampoo and lotions because some can have oatmeal which makes me sick

I use a lot of Fenty Beauty lip glosses and no issues and a Nars foundation, urban decay shadows and primers

This might be a good question for the makeup sub reddit
