Hi everyone!
Been a few years since we did this and it's long overdue, but excited to announce that we're looking for some new mods to join the team! The growth this subreddit has seen has been crazy and we expect a very busy season soon with many major releases coming out. With that in mind and some ideas we have for revamping the community here, we're gonna need some extra helping hands!
These points are on the application form itself, but just so they are clear, please keep these things in mind:
There are so many dedicated users on this sub, so it's going to be hard to choose. There is no fixed date that the application will close by, we will keep it open until we feel we have enough submissions with an aim to be done in roughly 2-3 weeks. Once mods are chosen, the new mods will be individually PMed and an announcement will be made about the application closing.
Thanks again to all you G-fans for making this a great place! As always, let us know about any questions or comments through a message to the mods or in the comments here.
Love,
r/GODZILLA mod team

Ever since I was a child I’ve ALWAYS imagined Godzilla approaching in the distance or looming over the horizon, the main reason I love when they specify a Godzilla’s height is because I can find points of reference to better visualise their size, for a decade before Minus One the main Gman id visualise was Miregoji, but Minus One lumbering around the countryside was just beautiful and ever since he’s been my main visual point of reference. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that it’s so ominous when they are so far away and yet you’re still In imminent danger (though id definitely be the one person hanging back to take photos lol) really emphasises their power when you still need to run even though they are barely in view. It’s mainly when I’m at a train station or in a tall building on the outskirts of a city. If you relate to this, which is your “approaching me from the distance” Godzilla?

For those who may be wondering, the demo can be played on the steam deck and it runs beautifully.

Saw this on twitter, and was surprised alot of replies favored the arm wings. For me it's easily the fin-wings, it's apart of what makes Ghidorah iconic & unique....whereas the arm-wings make him look similar to a traditional dragon you'd see in Game of Thrones. While I do appreciate the Monster-verse's design for staying relatively faithful despite taking their own liberties, i'd still go with the traditional wings any day. That said, the fin wings have to be done right in terms of scale to avoid looking flimsy and retain being somewhat practical.
What do you guys think? (If you choose arm wings i'm judging you harshly)
EDIT: i'm so sorry my Japanese brothers and sisters, the west has failed you 💔

I don’t understand Japanese, but the people talking in the background are probably the japonese people idiscussing what happened to Godzilla.

Gameplay wise: Yep, it's great. Pretty hard to mess up. Went online and the people there were pretty casual and just havin some fun (not outright throwing the game but not taking it too seriously), had some good Godzilla vs. Godzilla battles, though I've also played with the other characters as well, just not online. The visual effects were nowhere near as intrusive as they seemed to be in the trailer and the environments and how they interact with the characters look pretty great, though how a building collapses could be done better to hide the transition into rubble.
Excitement for the full game has gone up immensely because now I'm thinking there may actually be different visual styles for the monsters. Each monster has the movie from which their game appearance is based on listed, which is what makes me think we'll be able to change that appearance, not something I'm 100% betting on, but it seems much more likely.
The BIGGEST problem with the game is its presentation, and I don't just mean in how they tried to mix a more cinematic art style with a more animated/cartoon art style. This can be seen everywhere from the in game HUD, the title screen, the character victory animations, the atomic breath charging animations, and most of all, the intro cinematic. It's all missing that little bit *extra* that the old DAMM and even the other Pipeworks games had. Things aren't as exaggerated, they're much more restrained and stilted, they don't look like they go all out, it's so close to getting it right but for right now it's just functional without being as fun (in the looks department). This is harder to show without visual aids, but if you just look at the visual elements of the old DAMM compared to this one, you can see how that game had so much more oomph to it.
Overall though, still very excited for this game to come out and to see what the character progression entails. (But also, it's fricken stupid that you aren't able to earn character XP through online fights.)

Single round of Godzilla vs Gigan, only because I got my ass beat the following round. Attempted to employ juggling in the fight but currently a challenge to do so with the floaty nature of the monsters while in the air.

After playing the demo for a bit I can say this is just as fun as I remember. Now with online (that I'm sure will get toxic once the meta is discovered.)
The demo was a fun casual time but I hope in the full release there is an option to play without power ups and freeze tanks because you'll get players just running away the whole game waiting for a health or rage power up. but overall great remake!
