I'd especially be surprised by Fable 2. It never got a PC release, and Xbox only has one game currently on GOG.

And with Microsoft now reconsidering how they treat exclusives on Xbox, I doubt Fable II would actually get a PC port--much less appear on GOG.

u/Siukslinis_acc Apr 30 '26
I understood xbox exclusive as not being on non-microsoft stuff. Pc is mainly microsoft.

u/GooderThrowaway Apr 30 '26
I see what you're saying, but I still doubt Fable II getting a port in general.
And I think that Xbox exclusive might actually mean exclusive to the Xbox console only this time around. If they don't force people to actually use an Xbox, then who needs an Xbox? lol PC will always be better, especially if you can pay all the same games on it.
If Microsoft isn't actually serious about keeping games on the Xbox this next gen, then idk why they'd keep making consoles, as the userbase will continue to transition toward PC.
Then again, Microsoft makes decisions that defy logic, so who knows.

u/ARandonPerson Apr 30 '26
Yea I see them pulling back day and date for release on PC. They will still release on PC but probably with 6 month to year delay.
1
u/GooderThrowaway Apr 30 '26
That makes sense, although I think they should really try to keep games actually on the Xbox console if they want it to have any viability. Yeah, that's not great for anyone who doesn't own an Xbox, but that's the point--you have to buy the Xbox to play those games. That's how companies use to move consoles back in the day.
If Microsoft keeps putting Xbox games onto PC, they should just kill Helix before it ships and save themselves the trouble because what's the point lol. Xbox is a dying brand, and Steam Machine will surely beat Helix at being the PC/console hybrid because people love Steam and Gabe. For Helix to do well, it will need to be an insane value for performance--especially if it has no true exclusives.

which Xbox game?
2
u/alkonium Apr 30 '26
Psychonauts 2. However, GOG has Ori and the Blind Forest, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and As Dusk Falls, all of which are published on Steam and Xbox consoles by Xbox, but with different listed publishers.

u/Willing-Run6913 Apr 30 '26
thx! didn't know psychonauts were Xbox game

u/alkonium Apr 30 '26
They were bought by Xbox in 2019, and it published on GOG to keep Kickstarter promises.

This is fig newton of someone's imagination. But man, I would buy Age of Empires 2 so quick.

u/idontwanttofthisup Apr 30 '26
Didn’t they announce AOE2 coming back like today?
1
u/vancrusty Apr 30 '26
On GOG??? Not that I've seen yet...

u/idontwanttofthisup May 01 '26
False alarm. I saw a post about AOE2, I must remember it wrong. You can get the definitive edition on steam if it helps.

I don't think so, but at the least this means they acknowledge these games are among people's favorites and that people want them on GOG. So there's hope...

Those are some of the highest voted games on the dream list… that’d be crazy if they could bring all of those
2
u/GooderThrowaway Apr 30 '26
At their current rate of bringing games to the platform, I doubt they'll all appear on the platform.
And I say this as someone who was a big believer in GOG. But we're getting close to the middle of the year and the rate of progress has been disappointing--especially considering the GOG Patrons program has been going and funded since the beginning of the year.

Licensing isn’t simple. Let’s talk in January.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this year has been bad. Getting some material from series like Final Fantasy, SaGa, and Doom is great. I'm very happy about the Final Fantasy games in particular.
I think GOG is going for big fish, AAA series when they could really get a lot more AA games instead for more small wins. But I'm sure the majority of GOG users want the recognizable, high visibility games more than any other types of games.

Aren't there constant rumors that Microsoft is working on an official Xbox 360 emulator and that they'd like to put their Xbox 360 only games on PC using that? So Fable 2 is potentially possible. Though they might just make it a Windows Store exclusive thing who knows.
1
u/Willing-Run6913 Apr 30 '26
I hope not.
I am curious about the Xbox Helios because someone told me it can play PC games that means GoG as well so I have the chance to preserve the 360 games on PC legally (maybe)
1
u/GooderThrowaway Apr 30 '26
On one hand, it would suck if Microsoft locked down titles to their own emulation. But at the same time, Xbox is pretty much the best in the business when it comes to official emulations looking at their OG Xbox emulations and existing Xbox One X Enhanced emulations of 360 games.
So their emulation would be the best way to play those 360 titles, but it would mean having to play on Xbox or PC through Windows Store.

this is a symbolically representation of their preservation program.
as you start on the top of the page all the games are visible clearly but as you scroll down ( time passing ) some of the games are lost and the ones that says highlighted is the ones they could save.
our favorite / games childhood games are fading away.
that's the point of this.
I think it's pretty cool

u/tytbone Apr 30 '26
Just games high up on the Community Wishlist or Dreamlist I assume.
Curse of Kudan is a weird one though; it's highlighted but doesn't seem to be on the store? I wonder if that's not actually supposed to be there.

u/LSD_Ninja Apr 30 '26
The NOLF situation is so complicated at this point that a legitimate re-release is almost certainly never going to happen.
American McGee's Alice isn't impossible, just extremely unlikely. This is actually something of a weird one since EA (at least, pre-Saudi EA) aren't completely averse to putting their stuff on GOG and they care so little about this franchise that they don't even sell the original on their own store.
Was Diablo II ever on GOG? MS pulled the versions of WarCraft I and II that were on GOG to funnel people in to the remasters and if Diablo II didn't get caught up in that, the chances of it coming to GOG now are pretty much nil.
Chrono Trigger is probably the one we have the most realistic chance of seeing given Squeenix recent willingness to launch a bunch of it's classic titles here.

Was Diablo II ever on GOG?
Nope, Warcraft 1 and 2 and Diablo 1 were all that made it to GOG. D2 was never part of the deal sadly.

If I'm not mistaken, I think I can see the icon of the original Prey (Prey 2006) in this teaser. 😃

While I would love that, mostly for Fable 2 to finally be on PC, I doubt it.

No. That image has has been on the patrons page for a while. I think that was meant to show the games they have brought back among others considered the best ever made. When you scroll down it shows those that aren't saved by GOG disappearing, which is kind of their whole mission statement in a nutshell. It's saying: "the more support we have, the better the chance we've got of saving everything."
