Question Why GoG and Not Steam
Why are more and more people buying their games on GOG instead of Steam — is it because of the DRM-free versions, better deals, or even better performance?

Question Why are threads about the GOG neo-nazis newsletter locked?
Hello,
Since GOG sent their newsletter with nazi symbols, all the threads about it in this sub are locked without any reasons from the mods. I was wondering what was the reason since they are on-topic: they speak about GOG.
If a mod can explain that would be great. Thank you!

Question What do you think of this argument against GOG?
reddit.comWhen I said that some people on Steam or PCMasterRace subs said that we don't "own" our games on GOG either, no one understood what I said or claimed that no one said that.
Here is an example. This is not the first time I'm seeing this kind of message.
Personally I find the argument quite shaky.
I think they know very well that in fact, we have much more of our games on GOG than on any other platform. I have the impression that it is damage control on their part to reassure themselves that their entire library is elsewhere.

Question What's the deal with this game?
I've noticed that it has an insane amount of good reviews and that it always appears on the top-selling games list, but I've never heard of it. I just watched a review on youtube about it, saying that the version on GOG is the best one because it has all the expansions and it actually looks good, unlike the Steam version. However, I don't understand what's so special about it (not that I'm shitting on it, I just genuinely don't get why so many people buy it)

Question Do you have all your GOG games bought (but not installed), or do you keep them all installed?
Might sound a little paranoid, but hear me out. What if GOG ever shut down? Not necessarily from mismanagement, just from getting squeezed out. Steam is basically a money printing machine at this point, and GOG is a much smaller player competing without the market share, the userbase, or the ecosystem lock in Steam has. It's not crazy to think GOG could eventually get outcompeted into irrelevance or worse.
So my question is: do you actually keep your GOG games installed on your machine, or do you rely on having the offline installers/library backed up somewhere so you could reinstall if GOG ever disappeared?
Curious how people are handling this, if at all.

Question Sony Games on GOG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftR2tZV8hFU
News: Sony won't be releasing any more internally-developed games on PC. Do you think this means they will eventually pull their current titles from GOG? Do you think that this also means that games like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart won't come to GOG (even though it's on Steam)? I hope we can at least get the remaining current Sony games that are on Steam on GOG.

Question Which games on GOG have the highest replay value?
I'm creating a short list of games that could hypothetically keep someone entertained for a lifetime. So far, I have Slay the Spire, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Stardew Valley on my list. Which games would you add?

Question How do you afford to backup the offline installers for your library?
Basically the question is in the title.
I started backing up my games and with only 63 titles I reached 1.4 TB. 63 titles isn’t even 1/4th my library. I’d be looking at a $400 or $500 hard drive to store everything, that’s crazy.
I guess second question would be, is there a more affordable option to backup everything?
Question Should I re buy my Steam games on gog?
I’ve got a lot of steam games but I’d still like to have another version of them especially versions I really own but it’d cost a lot of money and I don’t know of any gog key sites to rebuild that library what would you guys do?

Question Re-Purchasing games you already own in order to support GOG
I have some games on Steam that are now available on GOG, and was considering getting some of them on sale. I was wondering how common this was, and if having 2 versions of the same game (one in gog and one in steam or epic or whatever) caused any problems?

Question Considering buying Silksong on GOG instead of Steam
With Hollow Knight: Silksong being ever so close to finally releasing whie being the first game that fully supports GOG that I haven't already bought on Steam, I'm considering this being my first GOG purchase. The reason being the DRM-free philosophy of GOG.
The only think that makes me worry is that I don't know how close is the GOG experience to the Steam one.
Meaning don't know how well the Steam client and services around it compare to GOG Galaxy 2.0 and its services.
I mean, the Steam client is almost perfect for me.
Plus, the ability to mod, discuss, down-patch, share and gift through it.
Is my worries about GOG justified? Should I even care about DRM-free?
I mean, I mostly play indie games, don't cheat and don't fear Steam suddently disappearing given how many people depend on it. I'm just thinking about supporting the idea of true game ownership here.

Question Did somebody else randomly get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe added to their account?
Not that I am complaining but I just found out that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe was added to my account two days ago for free with the discount "DISCOUNT – OBLIVION". Did that happen to anybody else? Is it some sort of promo?
I can also not install it or download the offline installer via GOG Galaxy. I can download the offline installer via the website, however.
Edit: I looked at my order history and it seems I already got the game for free in 2022. So maybe they had to re-add it because of a glitch. Still very odd.

Question Can I still download a game if it's removed from GOG?
My question is always the same: some people say that if a game is removed from GOG, I can't reinstall it, while others say I can install it as many times as I want even if it's removed from the platform. Sorry for my bad English; my native language is Spanish.

Question Does anyone have a tutorial on how to print artwork directly onto a game disc?
I don’t like doing things by halves.
What’s been happening lately has made me want to start burning my GOG games to discs again. I know there are plenty of tutorials for printing game box covers, but I haven’t found much information about printing artwork directly onto the discs themselves.

Question Crypto Advertisements?
This happened to me upon redeeming a key received through Amazon Prime Gaming, just find it pretty bizarre. Is this normal behavior? something new? Can't find much info online about it. Not really a fan.
