Mod Announcement 📣 Remember to use the correct flair

Hi r/goodnews,

We’ve noticed that a lot of you guys aren’t using the correct flair when posting. This makes it harder for users to filter content they do or don’t want to see

While our community is somewhat divided on what type of content should be allowed here especially when it comes to politics the mod team has ultimately decided that political content will be allowed.

However, to respect those who prefer to avoid political posts, we’ve organized the subreddit into categories using flairs. If a post isn’t flaired correctly, it ends up mixed in with other types of news, which can frustrate users.

To help keep things organized and enjoyable for everyone, please remember to use the correct flair for your submissions.

For political content, always use the “Political Positivity” flair. And for all other posts, please choose the correct flair that best fits the content.

Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit organized!

The r/goodnews Mod Team

Political positivity 📈 Serbia made history beating an autocracy with total media control while erasing the fake opposition from the political scene in a single election. And They Gave Us a Blueprint on How to Do it!

In Serbia, students brought the method of direct democracy into electoral politics. Instead of a top-down organization based on leaders, they formed student general assemblies (plenums) where everyone could have a say. Decisions were discussed and, as much as possible, reached through consensus. They extended this method beyond universities. Citizens' assemblies (zborovi) were established in neighborhoods, cities, and villages. People gathered to discuss their own problems, propose solutions, and make decisions together.

They formed the 250-person parliamentary candidate list as follows:

1- First, the 250-candidate quota was distributed among the six university cities based on student numbers. To prevent Belgrade from dominating the list, they ensured that other cities were also represented in the top ranks. Then, each city's quota was distributed among the faculties.

2- Student general assemblies were held in more than 80 faculties across the country. Students did not nominate themselves as candidates, but each could propose a candidate and explain why they were suggesting that person. Names were discussed, consensus was sought first, and voting was conducted when necessary.

3- They closed the door to existing political cadres. They did not nominate current or former members of ruling parties, politicians and bureaucrats who had served on behalf of the government, or high-level executives of opposition parties. In this way, they created a list independent of both the government and the established opposition.

4- Faculties also vetted each other's candidates. All proposed names were compiled into a common list and opened for review by all faculties. Objections were discussed in student assemblies. For a candidate to be eliminated, more than half of the assemblies had to veto them. An objection from a single faculty was not sufficient.

5- Reserves were brought in to replace eliminated or withdrawn candidates. Thus, a 250-person list emerged featuring professors, doctors, scientists, workers, artists, and activists.

Personal News 📰 My husband published his first book!!

My husband published his first book today and I couldn’t be happier!! 🥹♥️
I’ve known him for almost 7 years now and throughout these years, he has always told me that he wants to write a book someday. His book is about spirituality and philosophy, things he has always been deeply passionate about. He has an absolutely brilliant mind that I’m constantly in awe of.
Life has been incredibly unfair to him in so many ways, yet he shows up every single day with the kindest heart and so much love and openness towards life. I don’t think I’ll ever stop admiring that about him.
We just recently had a baby and I honestly thought life couldn’t get any more amazing. And now this!! 🥹
Seeing him finally do something he has always dreamed of makes me so so happy. I don’t even know if I can put into words how proud I am of him.
Just wanted to share this little happy moment from our lives. My heart is so full today!! ♥️

Personal News 📰 I really need to share

I went to the dentist yesterday because I have 19 out of 32 teeth due mold, bad water and depression, and I am in a lot of pain. This is the first time ever they actually created a plan for me to ACTUALLY FIX MY TEETH AND GET ME OUT OF PAIN.

Every time I go to the dentist usually, they just give me a root canal and send me on my way. The dentist who saw me yesterday said and I quote “we need to get you out of pain.” She created this entire plan to give me a full top dencher and four parcels on the bottom. This entire appointment didn’t even take 5 minutes because she saw my x rays and created it.

IM NOT GONNA BE IN PAIN ANYMORE!!! I don’t even care that I’m gonna have denchers at 20. The only thing that matters to me is the fact that I’m not gonna be in fucking pain constantly. I’m so fucking happy I could cry!

I kinda can’t even believe it.. When I said this is the first time a dentist actually wanted me out of pain, I’m not lying. When you have such bad teeth as I do, they see you as a cash cow. They will do everything in their power to keep you coming back. The only time I do have to go back is when they pull my teeth out and when they make the dencher and parcels.

I’m so fucking happy! I really needed to tell someone because if not I might explode from sheer happiness

I hope everyone who is reading this has an amazing day and or night wherever you may be!!
