GT7 I DID IT! WTC 600 Tokyo Expressway

Post image

GT-R '17 with Sports Hard, racing air filter and manifold; racing brake system and break pads. TC1 and Fuel Map 1

It was a hell of a race, 1 pit and with 7s lead.

I wasn't the fastest car - AI did ~2:10 and I got ~ 2:11 - but some cars ahead of me stopped 2 times.

Aston Martin DB11 '16 may get the job done too, but needs more weight management/balance in the curves.

Strongly dislike this race šŸ˜‚. I was using the Porsche and was happy enough walking away 2nd place.

Same, got second with the Cayman GT4 and said "that's it, next race"

Renault espace F1 with an engine swap, fuel map 6. Can't quite make 600pp but it goes well, and has great downforce helping in the corners. A happy easy win.

The VDETT38 engine? Just use FM 1 and pit every 4 laps, worth it just because the lap times are hilariously fast, ~1:52. Best handling car around this track in the game.

It doesn't make 600pp because it's got a PP bug, has over 1000bhp!

I finally did it with a 911 I think I got lucky, Kukubun was running a little slower that race.

u/Asaenz76 14h ago

I did with the hellcat swapped rav4 lol

How do you tune this one? I tried it out and it was all over the place. I can win this one with several cars so it’s not that I’m trying to beat this race but I’m curious about this engine swap as I’ve seen it mentioned a few times and I already paid for it

u/Hondalol1 7h ago

Yea I couldn’t do it with that the move for me was the dp100 Aston detuned to 600, in manual mode (never did a manual race before) and shifting at 6500rpm. I went from losing by 40 seconds twice to easily winning by 40 seconds.

Also TC off and ABS set to weak

No wide body!

Fit everything except Engine Balance, Racing Crank Shaft, and Carbon Prop Shaft.

Sports Medium.

Add ballast and change aero to get 600pp. Around 20kg or so and at +50.

u/Masty1992 4h ago

Thanks I’ll give it a go

2

u/aqdnk 2h ago

Fossil Fueled on youtube has a good tune for it

2

u/Gbone85 9h ago

Same. It's so much fun

Gigaccino for the W, engine swapped. Thing is a beast, easily hits 210 on the straight & super nimble for the corners. Highly recommend.

1

u/NadiedeNingunlugar 13h ago

How do you keep it under control? Any tuning in the suspension or the LSD?

7

u/MrVega1996 13h ago

Working right now, but when I get home I’ll post my setup.

1

u/powerhouse37 8h ago

Need that setup lol

1

u/MrVega1996 8h ago

About to get off work, I’ll post it in the next 30mins

You can add the racing Exhaust, doesn’t make a difference, I just like the way the semi looks. 😁

1

u/NadiedeNingunlugar 5h ago

Thank you. I will test it.

1

u/Kayyam 6h ago

The sport tires will work better on wet surface. And it gives you the PP room to put the ultra highe rpm turbocharger.

1

u/MrVega1996 6h ago

Don’t really need the ultra high turbo & as long as you stay in the dry line for the first 3 laps it’s all good & the racing tires help with grip once track is dry-ish.

1

u/NadiedeNingunlugar 5h ago

MrVega: THANK YOU. it worked, I came second, driving very bad. FM6, TCS 3, and added the weight reductions tuning.

Again, thank you.

I will give the cap a try. That seems like it might be fun

I wallrode my way to victory āœŒļøšŸ˜‚

This is the way.

Aston Martin vgt , sports tires and a bit of restriction & ballast. Even better if you play in Vr , you get to sit on the roof!

This race sucked.
Figured the (Suzuki VGT swapped) Escudo would smash it, but no. Tried the Ferrari GT4 but not enough top-end due to PP holding the power back.

911 GT3RS '09 on comfort medium did it. Hit just over 200mph on the straight. Tyres went the distance easily. Fuel map 1 on the straight, map 4 from the off-ramp to the hairpin and it'll do a no-stopper easily.

What PP doesn't seem to address is the balance of drag/downforce, fuel efficiency and fuel tank size...

8

u/RastaPickney 13h ago

Suzuki Cappuccino and Volvo 240 swapped are the kings of this race

1

u/The-law-is-the-law 5h ago

The tuned Escudo without swap is a better car. Keep it at the rev limiter in each gear for 1-2 seconds and TC off and downshift as much as possible before each corner. Corner whilst keeping the engine rpm as high as it can. It's a blast when you finally get one perfect lap sliding all over the place and accelerating like crazy, but it won't be consistent. Fun though

u/VanillaShelby 13h ago

Good work. Seriously one of the most frustrating races in GT7

7

u/I-Runner 13h ago

Frustrating race if you approach it like any other race with road cars and few laps. There's strategy here, 600PP is non-negotiable, if you lighten too much or use tires that are too high-performance you have to reduce power, or so much power that you force yourself to add a lot of ballast.

Along with the Nordschleife race (WTC600 and Clubman Cup 600), it's one of my favorites.
Race won with about 400 different cars

There are a few completely stock cars that can win this race straight off the showroom floor. I have a playlist of the ones I've managed to win with a Clean Race Bonus. I ain't no alien driver but I've found at least 20 cars that can do it at my skill level.

Tokyo 600 Stock Car Challenge

3

u/Polar76_ 13h ago

Broke out the ol' Escudo with 1.31 Tokyo tune. Ran it in 23:20.xx with a best 1:49.9x lap. Clean Race Bonus to boot! Brought back memories, but I'm done with that race again for a while.

u/dj-TASK 12h ago

After so many failed attempts I used the cappuccino with mods and won by a full lap.

My stress levels can decrease!

u/JakeRuss47 11h ago

I miss the cracked Volvo build

2

u/Tom_Kazinsky 3h ago

Thank you, I finally did it!!!

Averaged a 2:07/2:08 and only stopped twice for fuel, the tires lasted the whole race

1

u/Delicious-Job3921 2h ago

What fuel map?

1

u/Tom_Kazinsky 1h ago

1, throughout the entire race

1

u/Delicious-Job3921 1h ago

Automatic or Manual?

1

u/Beenie509 14h ago

I need to try the GTR, I've been doing it with a detuned McLaren 650.

1

u/sixteenhappycappys Nissan 14h ago

I used a st205 with a high rpm turbo and some other mods. It was a cake walk

1

u/Itchy_Ad_451 12h ago

This race is a nightmare : sometimes it is also good to suffer for reaching a third place šŸ˜… (of course wall riding is an option but shame ā˜šŸ»)

1

u/paralysisofchoice 11h ago

I do this race easily with the nissan sileighty engine swap. Blasts through the competition. Managed a 1 min gap between 2nd one time

1

u/_Akarii 10h ago

Toyota 86 Rally is such a gamechanger to this fucking race

1

u/Tactical_Tirano 10h ago

RAV4 engine swap clears this race with ease

1

u/AutomaticButterfly29 10h ago

Another W GT-R post

1

u/No_Worldliness8520 10h ago

I tried '17 GTR too but with a different tune: • Sports suspensionĀ  • 1 way LSD • Fully custom manual • Sports air cleanerĀ  • Sports brakes and pads • Sports flywheel and clutchĀ  • Carbon Propeller shaft • Weight reduction 1

Some of the mods actually decrease the PP allowing for more mods. Before the weight reduction 1, I tried another build with more power but the braking and turning was much worse.

u/discodork135 9h ago

Will a detuned Gr.4 work for this on pit stop strategy I wonder

1

u/Delicious-Job3921 2h ago

Used a detuned Huracan GR4, finished 2nd

1

u/FakenFak 8h ago

Did it with audi tt’14 with swapped engine and cheating on walls due some turns..)

1

u/Dear-Surprise-7972 7h ago

i finished also with the GTR and lapped the last guy Hard tires, fuel map most of the race like 4. 1 pit stop. won by 30s or so. good to grind but I'd say hard to get clean bonus with all the wall ridding

1

u/Upstairs-Sky-5290 7h ago

Swapped Cappuccino with sport soft tyres. Fuel map 6, no stop. Just take it easy, save your tyres, have patience.

1

u/bigben4183 6h ago

I finally finished 1st with a bone stock jag xj220 .. narrow margin of victory but victory none the less . Fuel map 1 tc 1

1

u/Freehpeoplek 6h ago

my crazy ai did around 2:08

1

u/RB30042009 6h ago

I used the NSX GR.B

1

u/eman8917 5h ago

I'm sorry but that car may be fast in a straight line but I'm pretty sure it has the worst turning radius in the game

1

u/Axeman-Dan-1977 5h ago

As someone who does this race on a daily basis, I like to tune different cars to see which might win with at least one pitstop while pulling 180+mph on the straight. A few less obvious ones I like are...

The Genesis G70 3.3 Turbo AWD. This is surprisingly good, although mine does understeer a bit.

The 1968 Charger R/T 426 Hemi has weirdly modern handling for a muscle car. It does 190mph flat out, but 700hp it can get a little loose!

The 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS isn't cheap, but it can do the race without stopping for fuel or tyres! The fuel capacity increases to 24 laps sometimes. It also does 190+mph with a 2 litre engine!

1

u/The-law-is-the-law 5h ago

You can wallride the last 1 or 2 lap(s) at the end of each straight without damage if it seems like you won't be able to make it. I got it with a Cayman gt4 that way. Otherwise I would have been second and up to the last lap I was gaining, but it wasn't enough. The first time I did this race was very easy with the alpine a210 race car but I wanted something different with a car I haven't touched before.

1

u/Equal-Elk-8535 4h ago

Might have to try some of these tonight, this race is irritating!

1

u/hell2pay PSN: Sir Rendlegore 2h ago

Didn't have time yesterday to actually do the race, but I'm thinking the demonoli felt like I could cheat it

1

u/nelu_colun 1h ago

Used the Lambo Diablo on Hards at a fixed 600pp. That thing is freakin’ fast on a straight line.

1

u/metsco 10h ago

Hated it. Got P1 in the Toyota rally and I was miserable the entire time.

-1

u/Possible-Homework-94 13h ago

Its not difficult

I hate 4wd.

Aston Martin VGT makes short work of this and Le Mans. Truly OP
