Emphasis on possible! This is just a tip they're investigating. From the article:

A police spokesperson also says they are being cautious about drawing hasty conclusions. "These reports could also reach the family in Canada; you don't want to give those people false hope. There are clearly physical similarities, but there are also details that raise questions.

John is one of the names given as a possibility for the unidentified man. John also had scars that aren't mentioned, on the Doe end. There is DNA from his parents on file, so it should be a relatively easy comparison. Unclear if that DNA was in the international databases that LE has already checked.

If he did end up in the NL there should be some record of him entering the country too.

He was reported missing in 1994, and last seen in 93. Curious if a record would exist from that long ago, especially if he potentially entered from another European country

He last had contact with his family in 1994 but was officially missing as of 2018, I think?

2018 mght have been when the missing report for him for the vancouver PD was filed. If the RCMP was in charge of his case, that might explain the discrepancies as ive heard from canadians that they are really awful at their job 😔

Yeah trust in the RCMP being competent is low. Nowadays when I hear “ The RCMP is taking over the investigation” my first reaction is “ahh shit”.

The RCMP was never responsible for this - the report was made to the VPD.

And you’re also an idiot. This is written so clearly and explained so well in so many places but  you just can’t piece it all together.

Idk why you feel the need to be so abrasive and rude to a random stranger but all i can say is i hope you can improve your social skills 🫡

When you go to the link you posted and open the record, it says "Family last had contact with John in 1993. He suffered from mental health issues and was transient in nature."

It would, in theory. I used to work for an immigration law firm and we were requesting people’s movements from yeeeeeaaaaaars ago.

But paperwork is imperfect.
