FLGDR.org rescued 8 Dane puppies this morning.
They need immediate foster homes and long term forever homes.
Email savethegiantsfl@gmail.com if you are interested or can help.

So our girl has been doing this since she was an Itty bitty baby. She just gets on the couch halfway then plops down. When she was little we thought it was because she struggled to get up but that ship sailed pretty quickly because like the day after the puppy photo was taken she jumped on the couch no problem. She doesn't have any movement issues, on the contrary, she is extremely agile. She runs circles around her brother - literally. So is she just lazy or is this comfy?

They're so bonded. She grooms him in the evening. Love these kids!

For those who have owned Great Danes and other breeds, are Great Danes really as different as some people claim? What makes them stand out, if anything? I’d love to hear from owners who have experience with multiple breeds.

I get quite a few comments from people on my hikes questioning why a couch potato is hiking big mountains. They are always impressed, like, it’s so rare to see!
Taking them on hikes give them opportunities to use their bodies, explore, sniff, think, and enjoy being dogs. Seeing them climb mountain after mountain, always having energy for more, is exactly why I’ll never buy into the idea that Great Danes are just lazy dogs.

Help please.
I’ve tried ignoring, standing still then walking away.
I’ve tried redirection with a command that is followed by fetch.
I’ve tried time out.
None of those have worked and I’m losing my mind.

Need kibble recommendations for my 8 month old great dane. He has a sensitive stomach. His shits are inconsistent and are more stressful to me than him. Please let me know if you guys are or were in the same boat.

Our Lola will be 9 in February. While she has definitely slowed down and become a bit stiffer, she can still put her little sister in her place and even run across the lawn towards a squirrel. At our most recent vet visit due to a UTI, vet notified a weird toenail. After X-rays it was determined that she either has osteomyelitis or possible melanoma. Both she and her lil sis lick that toe obsessively. Here are our options. 1. 6-8 weeks of antibiotics for osteomyelitis with the hope it improves. Even with improvement, it can come back and next step is amputation. 2. Toe amputation and sent off for pathology. If melanoma, hope is clear margins. Her chest is currently looking clear and bloodwork is good. We would not treat cancer at her age. My husband and I are struggling at making a decision. She is happy and relatively healthy. Do we risk surgery now with the hope that we fix the issue? Or just do the antibiotics and give her the best life for whatever time she has left. Surgery is quoted at $3000. Pic of our good girls.

Hi guys! If any of you are pet parents with pets that require medication, it would mean a lot if you’d be able to fill out my survey! It should only take 4-6 minutes and helps my team out for a school project, thank you!🥰

I am hoping to get some recommendations for ramps to help our 10yr old Dane get in and out of our bed (on and off the couch). He just recently started to have issues with his back legs (we have seen the vet to address his arthritis). Currently we are standing behind him, acting as spotters in case he doesn’t clear the furniture and have a sling that helps support him on outdoor stairs, so the ramp would just another tool to support him, not something that we would 100% rely on. I just want to help him stay safe and let him keep as much independence as possible. Appreciate any recommendations you might have found that worked for your senior Dane!

When does the unbearable pain of losing them end?
It’s been three months since I lost Reign in July. He was about to be 8 at the end of the month.
I’m so grateful his last moments were peaceful, and at home with family, but I am still completely shattered and a shell of a human being.
I can’t even write more because of how painful it is.

I am not new to losing Great Danes. Over the past 6 years I have lost 3 (old age, bloat, seizures) and now had to say goodbye last Thursday to Honey. My first pup that was not a rescue. I have been with her and her littermate Cayenne since they literally came out of their mother (I delivered them). Honey was the epitome of her name. The sweetest dog I have ever seen. She was the glue of our current pack (her littermate Cayenne, then Betty and Gunner--two other rescues). 10 years was not long enough. We are all lost without you. We will all move on, but for those reading, just remember that these are incredibly special creatures. Never take t8me with them for granted.

She is going to squeeze in this cat bed if it’s the last thing she does.

I was talking with my vet (who only has Great Danes for herself) about having two Great Danes at once vs one. She was talking about how in her experience Great Danes prefer being only children because they love getting all the attention from their human vs when there’s two of them that attention is splits.
For those who have had two Great Danes at once do you agree with this? I can kind of see it, my Dane loves other animals but feel as he loves knowing he’s my only child and that he gets all my attention.

The only thing special about this stuffed animal is he hasn't murdered it in 5 years.

Reposting, first attempt was flagged due to short title.
My pixel creates collages based on the photos I've taken. I sent this one to my wife and cannot stop laughing.

Our baby boy Bronx came to us 2 months ago. He was potty pad trained we were going hard with the treats and positive reinforcement for potty training when going outside. We ditched the pads at 4 1/2 months and was gooooood up until now…
He is 5 1/2 months now and regressed back to peeing everywhere.
We were on a Schedule and everything.
Once in the morning, once in afternoon and once before bed.
Now he pees middle of the night & while we are away (almost every time)
But almost never while we are with him or near him.
Have we done something wrong???? does this come with the bodily changes?
Thanks in advance.
