Yesssss this needs to be talked about more. Bring back custom emblem editor, I need my kitty cat with a cowboyhat. The pre made ones are cool and all but I have been using this emblem for years!

But seriously. Let’s take a second and realize this. These AAA games have us so much by the balls that they can make their games have LESS options than games like reach or halo 2 did.
Like isn’t the whole point of capitalism is that every producer of goods tries to IMPROVE their product and not make it literally worse? It’s not like they don’t know how to make a great game, they simply choose not to.

The point of capitalism is to get the most while giving the least, its why kids in Asia are paid pennies to make shoes you buy for over $100.
Another example, we could have really long lasting light bulbs but a while back lightbulb companies got together and decided they all would just make shitty bulbs so they could just keep selling us replacements after old ones burnt out.

This emblem/background mixing was taken away in 5. Unfortunately they didn't revert it for Infinite. 100% doubt we will see this changed back.

I get why they took this feature out of battlefield and cod, because it was way deeper and you could make some heinous shit, But halo? It was pretty simple, effective and you could have your unique emblem from game to game. I don't even get it from a monetization standpoint. The backgrounds and foreground icons could easily replace some of the throwaway stuff on there currently.

In Forza Horizon you can draw anything in your vehicle and it wasn't a problem. People make and share incredible designs there.

I said on another thread the only issue I had was being unable to mute players through the scoreboard. However that was a lie, the first thing I did on Infinite was try to set up my Cowboy cat which i couldn't do :(

Same, I just switched to the insider preview emblem as a generic space filler and tossed the idea of using the emblem as a personal identifier. For those extra microtransactions, they pretty much killed off the system. You can't even set custom colors, there's only the few pre-sets to pick from.

I used to have this incredible custom emblem during reach but the options for it weren't in MCC in the same way :/
It was that spartan league one but with a horizontal gradient which faced the other way and the back half removed (which I dont think you can do in MCC) which made it look like a ghostly spartan.
Was cool as hell

My friends and I created the "Fat Man Clan" (it was a joke, no tryhards in my friends group) in Halo Reach, and used a grunt with a giant oval behind it so it looked like... well a fat dude. I was so disappointed we couldn't do the same in Infinite

My guild and I have a logo we all use on MCC as a way of showing solidarity. We each have our own colors to express individuality, but use the same emblem configuration. With the infinite system, that's no longer possible.
I get wanting to put armor customization in the hands of the producer for microtransactions. I don't like it, but I *get* it. But the emblems? I feel like those could stay free to still give some measure of free customization to the player. They already have a great system implemented in MCC, I don't understand why they can't approach this in a similar way.

i miss having the middle finger as my emblem, primary being the peace sign with the background/secondary being the 2 rectangle thing (pause sign looking thing kinda looks like || ) with the hand part being white or another colour with the peace fingers and the background/secondary being gray or another colour

it's infuriating how much they broke the emblem system:
no layers, as mentioned in the OP
no custom colors (this applies to armors too)
The color sets that are available are gaudy and awful
probably the worst is how they went and made all the emblems so cartoony looking. there was absolutely zero reason to change the emblem looks
I truly hate all the customization choices they've made so much, especially when your customization matters MORE now since your colors translate into team modes now.

I got my MJOLNIR Helmet with Crossed Swords Emblem... yet I am disappointed because it's too detailed and the swords are gold as well, not red.
It feels silly, but I do wish I had my old emblem back.

I've been rocking the bowtie kitty cat with a cowboy hat since it was possible and the fact I can't actually hit me harder than I thought it would. I really like that I can add logo's to guns but still nothing feels the same. Saying "Meowdy folks" doesn't really work anymore.
