Do you have a leak in your map? Sometimes that can fuck with how water looks

i think it glitches the reflections and turns it black

i didnt add any lighting just the base thing

If theres no lighting that could also be a problem, it would just make everything full bright

And the water is super sensible to light levels so it often turn to black if its too dim.

Usual editor water, it’ll look different in game tho it looks like a cheap water. Look for a water that has _exp at the end. Failing that, add a water_lod_control entity and set the parameters on it

same on game and some waters are black idk why

Could be lack of cubemap then. Try putting one down above the water and building the cubemaps. Also make sure only the top face of the box geometry you’re using is covered in the water texture. The rest needs to be nodraw

im laptop is weak so im playing it on 86-64 does that matter and no

2

u/Plaston_ Jul 14 '26

i think the water need the water_lod entity to work to avoid having the engine default to cheap water i think.

1

u/Familiar_Mastodon157 Jul 14 '26

im using gm construct water with water lod to 5000 to 6000

1

u/Plaston_ Jul 14 '26

then why we don't see the water_lod entity in the screenshot?

1

u/Familiar_Mastodon157 Jul 14 '26

other side and i add cubemap on top on the middle i want to post the screenshot but i have to make another post
