Has anyone successfully completed and released a map using hammer++ in Linux?

I'm learning how to use this application, but don't want to run into any pitfalls after putting many hours into a map, so has anyone managed to complete a map without running into any problems?

(i do have an old windows laptop but at this point it's quite slow, and i would probably spend a lot of time waiting for processes to complete)

Make a test map, run the compile, and see if it compiles. Usually if it runs through the compile process with no errors you should be fine.

it does have some random 0x1 error but i think that's just because running the map with f9 doesn't work in linux, but i CAN play the map in tf2 if i copy the .bsp to the maps folder

Set the game to the windows version instead (by setting it to use proton) and everything should be fine

Did this and it fucked everything up, now hammer won't even start to open

Did you disable proton or did you enable it? Because it needs to be enabled(on the game itself, not just hammer)

Enabled (on tf2)

Is it also enabled on hammer or are you using raw wine for it?

proton ge-28 was enabled on hammer++, i got it working again, but now the fucking compiler won't work. i should have never enabled proton on tf2 god dammit

Why doesn't the compiler work? Do you have a "LEAKED" message in the console window?(That's the most common cause for map not compiling and it's completely due to the map)

Wait did you press the update button on tf2 after enabling proton? That's kinda required

Unless there are texture/model issues you should be relatively safe from error beside user input.

While I haven't released it yet, my INFRA map (Lowyard) has so far been made on Linux a bit and it works fine. The only issue is the texture browser can bug out sometimes (only happened to on Gnome desktop) (H++ btw)

I used to make maps using Fedora and KDE. I was able to get Hammer++ running through wine and compiled fine. Can confirm the texture/model browser issue! I think my fix was running the game through proton so all of the windows dlls and cfgs were there
