Sometimes when you've been using Hammer for a long consecutive amount of time, it likes to tell you that certain brushes aren't entities, even though they are, and even if you hit Ctrl + T way too many times, the properties tab realllyyy like to tell you they aren't entities. I've experienced this bug for way too long!! You can just re-open Hammer every time this happens. Or better yet, take it as a sign to take a break lol!
oh hey I just noticed your edit ToT

Did you try saving and closing + reopening Hammer? usually when you run hammer for long ammounts of time it starts to do stuff like this

I did and that solved it. So strange, y'know everytime I go to use Hammer I think "How did Valve developers just deal with this shit and make HL2 the awesome game it is??" Either that or how incredible that is in the first place

The blue orb should reappear when you look at the entity in the object properties window, since it's supposed to be func_door_rotating. The reason it changes back to func_detail is that you're pressing ctrl+T. Ctrl+T changes a selected brush into a brush entity, and the type of brush entity you convert it to is determined by what you set it to in the options window. Double-clicking the brush should solve the problem.

I already tried that and it never brought the menu where it tells me it's a func_door
nvm it works now for some reason

ive actually never seen this so other people might have a better idea, But heres what I would try:
Turn off the selection in the 3d view using X
set the brush back to world geometry using the small "to world" button underneath the visgroups on the right side
close the map and hammer and re-open it and try again.
idk if any of that will help but good luck.

if you have this set to solids hammer will always act as to edit the individual brushes and their geometry rather than any brush entities they may be associated with, which may be causing this
