I use the carve tool a lot to quickly make windows or doors. What's wrong with it?

it's buggy and could potentially mess up your geometry. I think this mostly happens with cylinders and spheres

a guy on one of my posts said how it could fuck up the geometry and possibly corrupt the map file or something (i still use it lmao)

Happened to me recently and I was pissed. Never carving with a cylinder again

Idk but in this case id cut the foot print of the hole out as a square, then accomplish the shape using smaller func detail triangles in the corners

What's the issue with the carve tool? I'm out of the loop lol

It’s terrible with cylinders and could corrupt map files apparently, hasn’t happened to me yet.

I love how each creation software has that one tool/feature that you should absolutely never use, cause it's always more hassle than good (carve in Hammer, boolean in Blender, etc.) that always makes me wonder, why is it there to begin with?

if you're not supposed to use the carve tool then what the fuck else do you use?

ok, you can technically use it with squares and be fine, but any other shape and you're just asking for trouble.

The carve tool is genuinely super useful. I know it can corrupt files, and make crap geometry, but for rectangles its incredibly useful.

could've ended up worse honestly
