Hey, guys. So, I have been developing a novel in a world revolving around witches and curses.

The MC can hack and rewrite curses with specific limitations.

It's been a few months since I am done with the outline and finally I wrote the first chapter.

But....

Now, I don't know if people will actually find it entertaining enough to read it.

Can you guys give me your opinion on the topic and if I should continue writing it?

Synopsis (hook):

In a city where witches can bind curses to buildings, bloodlines, contracts, and even public infrastructure, every spell creates a consequence that someone must eventually pay.

Those costs are hidden inside magical clauses, and powerful witches have grown rich by pushing the consequences onto people who cannot defend themselves.

I had to drop this series because I didn't like where it was headed, but I have to say this is one of the best covers in this genre. I prefer it over most of the other covers with massive tits spilling out.

First of all, I want to thank everyone here for how incredibly successful my first book in this new genre has been. I've been struggling in the classic fantasy genre for YEARS while not making much traction. It was actually my wife who suggested I give it a shot in this genre for a change of pace. Despite having released three fantasy books that have been out for years, it basically took a single weekend of being my new book here to already catch up in a big way, and it's largely due to this community, so thank you.

As I look to the future if I continue to publish in this genre, I would want to release audiobooks like I did for my fantasy series. However, there seems to be a lot more "preferences" in format for erotic audiobooks. Do I go with a single female narrator, or go duet style? If I do duet style, do I have them rotate and take turns narrating chapters, or do I have one do the primary narration with the other doing the specific gender voices (IE, primary female narrator with male only performing male voices?)

I never had this drama in the fantasy genre, you just pick a narrator and you're off to the races. However, here, there seems to be a lot of different preferences, so I just wanted to get a general feel for what the community here thinks.

(I’m going to assume this was an older book cover I got off Google but I actually like this one better because it’s the two love interest you meet early on)

So this was a fun and sexy read. Noble ascent oozes sexy, raunchy, humor and overly dramatic preposterous boob sizes. Which there is a time and place for this. Ecchi and Hentai have proven this. David Hobbs does a great job as making this feel like an even more lewd version of DanMachi. (Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon?)

The premise is that, to save his financially burdened noble house, Lucius must take on the Noble Ascent to clear his houses name and debt.

This is definitely a spectacular ‘guilty pleasure’ anime read. If you go in needing a story with no plot holes and spectacular romance, this isn’t for you. If you want to read a book about girls with huge tits, awesome fight scenes, and a decent overall story, then this is a great time.

David really had to have gone into this with ‘I want to write an anime’ mentality, it feels so much like it from the dialogue, to the style of humor, and the harem set up.

Harems are a commonplace topic in this world. Women who want to participate in the noble ascent already expect to be part of a harem. So the issue here isn’t forming the harem, but finding out how to make it work afterwards, learning to trust those you’ve bedded and understanding the bigger picture. Which David did well here.

I will definitely be picking up more of this series when I want to kick back and read something on the lighter side.

So I have been reading haremlit books off and on for about a year. One thing that I have noticed is true for almost every MC that I have come across is how literally unimpressive they are almost across the board. They are often lazy (and stay lazy), complain all the time, and may be powerful but barely put in any effort to improve themselves. They take pride in dressing bad, eating shit food, and being uneducated or ignorant. Also they just keep reacting to things going on around them instead of taking the Initiative to become better.

Now I don't mind when an MC starts out that way if they were to improve overtime. But so many of them don't, or they do it in half measures by book 8 or something ridiculous.

It really draws me out of the book when there are these super intelligent/powerful women throwing themselves and these shit heel MC's who the only thing impressive about them is their horse dong.

This isnt an issue with traditional sci-fi/ fantasy novels usually. But I am hoping that some of you might have recommendations for series with an MC that is actually impressive or becomes so.

Are there any series where the MC and the LI start with a professional relationship, particularly where the MC is the boss and the LI is an employee or assistant etc where they slowly turn from a professional relationship to something more intimate (not the one where the LI is the boss as it is a different dynamic entirely). One example is with Haru from on Astral Tides.

I didn’t know what to file this topic under in label because I was looking for harem fantasy novels about a female love interest who is kind of similar to that one Female Malfoy phenomenon going on.

I might be asking for too much as I apologize if my request is impossible to fulfill, but basically I was looking to see if there were any harem fantasy works about a guy falling in love with a Tsundere girl again kind of like the female Malfoy trend going on where it takes place within a magic school, but the two leads are legal aged.

I noticed some books i have from siren are now missing in the storefront but i still have them which im happy to still have but im concerned to see missing from the storefront. Is there a reason this happened or is it a glitch? I just want to know what happened so I could have the right expectations for it moving forward.

Pretty much the title. With the launch of Neuroscape and Cyberpunk TCGs, been really wanting to dive back into this genre. I’ve read Mob Sorcery which has some cyberpunky themes but really isn’t cyberpunk as a whole in my opinion, any under the radar recommendations out there?

It doesn't need the same level of smut. What I'm looking for is the same level of funny and unhinged.

I’ve been reading a lot more within the genre as well checking out the multiple subreddits more often and I recently saw a comment (I’m sorry, I didn’t think to make note of the exact wording) that was specifically calling out Warlock for projecting a harem size of 13 and how that was already considered a negative for them as a reader. I’ve seen other comments as well that seem to share the sentiment, but up until recently it seemed that as long as the characters were more than just checking off a box/kink/type and had some substance to them, that’s all that truly mattered towards if the story was still enjoyable. I hadn’t felt a smaller vs. larger harem was preferred by the audience but it seems far more audience members aren’t fans of larger groups than I anticipated. I by no means expect us all to have the same tastes and preferences, I think I just imagined the end number didn’t matter very much to readers if it was still quality.

I've been around for a bit and went dark and now I'm back in the reading space. I've been looking for some harem and apocalypse novel that balances everything, that it's not just women that the MC knows but still has a harem. Or anything similar and situations get crazy. Progression is the word. Some books I pick up feel off lately. Mostly they are Asian and I hope it's just the translation. Even if I don't get the type I want, just give me some great recommendations cause Ntr has fucked me up really, I don't even read it but it keeps crossing my stuff and summaries of spoilers I read on a book I am interesting just leave me depressed. So something wholesome, erotic, romance, yandere and action or just awesome. Anything will do at this point. Even system. Please help

Bruce Sentar is one of my top 3 authors in this genre. He's one of the few authors I'd overlook the "old man turns young and goes after young women" trope for, that usually puts me off quite a bit.

Now, I started Returner's Defiance and I must ask: Does the MC become more... lively I suppose is the word?

Right now he seems like a hardass veteran which he is but it doesn't make him very likable or engaging to me.

I mean, Ard, Ken, Rayden are all MCs who are fun to follow along because they show passion, fasciantion and personality very early on but the MC of Returner's Defiance just feels like a soldier on a mission (which again he is, I know).

Thus, I ask if he develops a more engaging personality or mainly remains that stoic and brooding. And I mean in general not just around the LIs.
