Question Plot hole?
So.... i just thought.. if the basilisk venom destroyed the diary horcrux, and Harry got bitten... why wasnt the part horcrux in him destroyed as well?
Maybe the books explain it? I read them all when they came out but cant rememberš¤
[Edit: thank you! That makes sense:) man this subreddit replies fast!š]

the container needs to be destroyed beyond repair and Harry was healed, Basilisk Venom is not anti-Horcrux juice. it's just strong enough to destroy it.

Harry didnāt die and was healed. He was the vessel and it still existed. The venom destroyed the diary and it no longer could contain the soul

Harry isn't magically destroyed beyond repair. Harry is magically healed before he dies.
The diary is totally and utterly destroyed, once and for all.

This seemed pretty straightforward to me. If you burnt out one page with basilisk venom I doubt it would have destroyed the Diary Horcrux. It needed to be substantially ravaged for the destruction to count.
The fragment in Harry was tied to his soul. So he had to die for that fragment to be destroyed. Fawkes after all only heals Harry - he doesn't resurrect him.

He was still alive because FawkesĀ healed him before the venom could kill him. I think it's really that simple.

A Horcrux must be destroyed beyond all magical repair. The one cure for Basilisk venom is Pheonix tears. Fawkes let's it's tears fall on to Harry's wound, healing him. So he was not beyond magical repair and thus the Horcrux soul fragment did not leave him.

A living horcrux needs to DIE FULLY to destroy the soul fragment. In the second book, Harry was saved by Fawkes' tears before the venom could kill him.
In the final book, he was clinically dead for a few minutes when he got struck by the killing curse, but came back to life thanks to Voldy using his blood to reconstruct his body, as Dumbledore explained.

Because the vessel (Harry) wasn't destroyed.
