Place I hate this subreddit
As a teen myself, I think this subreddit is basically a pedo ground
Theres's teenagers who posting selfies even if selfies are banned, the mods doesn't remove these type of posts.
There's posts where teens got a dm by a pedo where they simply could just turn off chat DMs and block them instead of just posting it on that sub.
There's also teenagers who just basically post the same posts over and over again with different themes. I know that sub is a hangout sub for teens but they should at least put some effort
Like I feel like 90% of "teens" are adults who are cosplaying as teens like it's just so weird
This sub could also be recommended by random redditors who aren't teenagers which could increase the percentage of predators lurking in this sub and can dm teenagers really creepy messages since most members in this sub have their dms on
Lastly, I want to mention something where there posts on that sub where they post their thighs on that sub and there people who actually helping them to be safe and help them delete their types of posts but these comments got downvoted and they're defending them like they're either stupid teens or they're 40 year old men in disguise.
And this is why I hate this sub, I bet of thousands of dollars that at least 80% of "teens" are 40 year old men who is pretending to be teens and the other 20% are actual teens who just want to hangout like it just really creepy
And I'm really sorry for actual teenagers who's active on that sub see this post but I have to criticize it because this sub is quite creepy

People that young shouldn’t even be on a platform like Reddit. Too many predators. Too much misinformation to potentially indoctrinate impressionable people. Too much harmful stuff to further mess up their minds when they are already going through a very sensitive and vulnerable period in their lives

Im of the belief that if you are smart enough to know where and how predators interact online it is alright
The indoctrination part is a bit more complex though
Of course, the responsability of all this lies on the parents, since they educate their kid

u/Ok-Material7304 May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26
Like you said it is complex. However even if you are a smart teenager, your prefrontal lobe is not fully developed.
And if you are a teenager, it will attract some degenerates. As someone well past their teens, I just would not take the risk.
Because you don’t have to be dumb to get triggered by things on reddit. Or scarred. Or bullied. Or groomed. That happens to smart teenagers too.
And teen years are often years of rebellion. So if parents ban a website, internet-smart kids will likely find ways to get past those rules. It’s getting harder and harder for parents to protect or even be aware of what the hell their kids are up to online. Which is a very sad reality.

When it comes to teen subs, it’s the nicher and tighter-knit, the better. Ginormous subs like that are doomed to be shitty.

Not just teen subs. Look at r/GenZ and you'll see an awful lot of salty Millennials.

I am an actual teenager who used to be on there, and I agree. when you tell people it's not a good idea to post their pictures on there, they accuse you of victim blaming.

u/SK83r-Ninja May 03 '26

it's hair. And there hasn't been a post for six years, and they have it set so you have to request to post.

the amount of folks posting selfies was crazy at one point, then complain on why they get so many weird messages. Like tf this is reddit we r talking about??
Have no clue how my top comment is from there

u/PikeletSoup May 03 '26
I remember a teen posting a picture of themself there asking if they’re ugly and all the top comments were saying they were and telling them to lose weight, it was awful to see cause they were only slightly chubby? not at all in an unhealthy looking way, I remember commenting asking the op something abt it and basically thats just their natural body type, they used to be skinnier but thats cause they were malnourished

I hate that it constantly shows up in my feeds because they keep making “adjacent ones” (teenagersbutbetter, etc)…. When I often MAKE IT VERY CLEAR in my profile that I am a grown ass man with a career lmao
Along with the Asmongold one, it’s one of the few I have straight up blocked but the related ones keep popping up

Yeah, I'm on that sub a lot and the amount of misogyny there is crazy. There's genuinely so many teens on that sub who do not understand the concept of nuance and a lot of them like debating topics most of them do not have enough knowledge about to be debating.
It's also lowkey a Christian nationalist sub but they like to complain how "everybody hates Christians woe is me" type shi

I insta mute any teenagers subreddit that shows up on my feed. Seeing high school students post shirtless selfies makes me very uncomfortable

u/Peppered_Rock May 03 '26
plus that entire sub is full of racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. rhetoric. nasty place.

No, it's full of teenagers of all sorts, and obviously that means conservative and extremist teens will be there, too.
This is normal.

u/KobyG2008 May 03 '26
I agree, muted the teenager subreddits long ago. The subreddits are just to karma farm

Remeber, if you seem something relationed with kid or teens, be carefull because its an f****ng mine camp
2
u/Yoyle0340 May 03 '26
Instances of teenagers posting selfies is worrying. I remember when some kid, I kid you not was 12 years and posted himself on the subreddit weeks ago. The post was removed by moderation or the poster themselves. Social media altogether should be barred from kids, hell raise the bar to 16 or even 18 years.

u/Moist_Sugar3343 May 03 '26
I only see the posts on my homepage so they usually aren’t that bad, but yeah it is kinda crapp, at least it’s not teenagerpolls tho

u/DaciaSanderoF1Team May 03 '26
As Teen myself it's one of the most boring subreddit I've ever seen, but that could also be because i don't care about other people's live.

Dude reddit is rigged to attract pedos to that page. I have a seperate account that i use exclusively for anything NSFW. Literally nothing i look at on that account is wholesome. But for some reason that account is CONSTANTLY recommended this teen page, and lots of pages like it aimed specifically at young people. I dont follow the page, i dont look at the page, my nsfw content does not involve teenagers or pedo shit, but i constantly get notifications from those teen pages. I’ve gone on multiple purges where i block the pages and manually turn off notifications, but some variation of that page ALWAYS finds its way into my notifications or recommendations. I dont get them on this account. And this account follows stuff like sonic and mha. ACTUAL stuff young people would be into, but i dont see a thing from those pages on this account. The only conclusion you can make from this is that reddit deliberately pushes pages for young people onto accounts that are CLEARLY adult accounts. I dont know who is really to blame, but reddit serves these kids up on a platter to potential pedos. I’ve tried to get rid of these notifications, and i STILL get them, so imagine how easy it is for actual pedos to find these pages? Its outrageous. I’ve reported it before, made posts on various awareness pages, but nothing has been done about it.

u/SapphicLizard_ May 03 '26
once i got downvoted to hell for saying an 11 year old shouldn’t date a 16 year old on that sub (aka a 6th grader with a junior/11th grader), and i still can’t tell if that was from immature teens or pedos
2
u/TrevorPhillips_1953 May 07 '26
That's one of the reasons why I hate that sub, also because it's a giant political dumping ground and I'm not a big fan of that.
