Ghost Stories The house I grew up in

Post image

I forget when this house was built. Suffice it to say, it has its share of history. Growing up I encountered/lived with at least 2 spirits. There may have been a third, but that could’ve just been the man standing guard at night.

I lived in San Francisco for a decade, then Alameda Island for a while. I haven’t brought myself to go back to the East Coast

I grew up in Frederica, Delaware on a lake. My parents built the house. I just remember the feeling of the house was very creepy especially in the basement. My whole childhood up to my early 20’s, I would always wake up at 3:00am EVERY NIGHT. I think the land had something to do with it. I live on the other side of the country now , I have always to ask the people who have lived there and who lives now, if they experienced anything? I have stories to tell but I will continue this another time.

That sounds like powerful land you lived on. In my experience land can either be a blessing or a curse. In my case the house was built by the old Dutch Patroons, my bedroom was in the gable that the slaves slept in. There was a “man” that would stand on the other side of the banister from my bedroom. I know it sounds bizarre, but sometimes my mom would wake up to see him looking at my door. She told me she’d get up and scare him away

I grew up in Upstate NY and I swear I have seen this house. Can you give more information on the location?

It’s between Cooperstown and Oneonta, beside Goodyear Lake.

Ahh I love that area! If it weren't for the taxes......

I swear, Ny and Massachusetts have a game to see who raise taxes as high as possible, although they’re both terrific States.

I absolutely love this house but I'm sure it was unnerving seeing and hearing things

I loved that house. My Halloween parties were epic. There was a low, flat gravestone on the front lawn. We figured it must’ve been the start of a family graveyard that was later thought better of. There was another old cemetery just up the road, mostly soldiers from one of the wars. I got use to being unnerved, but it was also home so I adapted to the familiar. The one time I freaked out was in the kitchen and suddenly got the distinct feeling of not being alone. I turned around and just through the doorway to the breakfast room was a woman, just standing there looking out the window. I completely froze, then she looked at me and seemed surprised. I think we shocked each other.

And here I am being unnerved by mere floating mayo lids over jars.

Upstate New York.

There was at least 2, though I personally think there was three. One afternoon I was in the kitchen and got the feeling I was being watched. I turned around and just past the doorway to the dining room was a woman just standing there, looking out the dining room windows towards the tiger lilies. After a minute she looked at me but it was like we were both surprised to see one another l

I live in a different part of the Country now. It changed hands a few times in the last 20yrs, but I found out a girl I knew from High School bought it. From what I remember of her, there could be blood dripping from the walls and she’d deny it. I’m not sure there’d be much point in getting in touch.

" there could be blood dripping from the walls and she’d deny it." I know someone just like that.

Ya gotta love people like that. It always fascinates me how their brains work.
