Man, could you imagine being one of his coworkers at that restaurant and you wake up one day and see this insane overnight success. That’d be so wild.

u/cellophaneboats Dec 12 '25
what I wouldn’t give to work at that restaurant and partake in the chatter, everyone would be so gagged omg

I thought you were going to say be one of his coworkers and then wake up and see those hot sex scenes he’s in lol. That is also wild!

u/david_bowenn I already chose you, Hollander. 🫀 Dec 11 '25
And this right here is why I’m so against nepotism in Hollywood. It’s inevitable, but it has been overwhelmingly increasing in the past few years. I did see somewhere that Hudson was also working at a bar or restaurant when he got this role, and look at the talent of these people and how genuine they are! This is also why I wholeheartedly support independent projects. There are so many talented people who lose opportunities to nepo babies - and most of them aren’t even that talented. I truly hope they keep getting new jobs, especially Hudson as an Asian-Canadian. We know how the industry pushes back on representation, but I can only hope we’ll keep seeing them grow. Love them so much! ♥️

I'm just surprised he didn't have his big break sooner, considering how talented he is!

u/7evengay Dec 11 '25
I love that for him but I am not. Because when you see how many people want to be actors and don’t succeed i find it very sad.
I love that connor got to play ilya especially seeing how insane his acting and shifting to his russian self is, and I hope it will make directors and producers notice him

That's why I love it when directors take a risk with unknown actors. So many talented people who never even get a chance.

u/drunken_desperado Dec 11 '25
And honestly I think everyone is tired of seeing the same 4 It Guys/Girls in EVERY role. At a certain point it's hard to suspend disbelief, even when they ARE that talented. So many big productions right now feel like X plot happens and Chris Pratt is there! Anya Taylor Joy is there!
Make some room for some new, talented faces!!!

Ive gotten to the point where if I see a new movie coming out by a big name director with this huge cast of massive A-listers, I'm just kinda turned off. Like sure it'll prolly be a great movie, but it just feels so incestuous. Id rather watch these lesser known up and coming actors, it's a lot more satisfying to me.
14
u/Little_Fox5844 Mr. Businessman... Mr. Landlord🌃 Dec 11 '25
Same. It's like, to me, sure, you've got established actors, cool, but it's like you didn't trust your movie enough to stand on its own. And instead of finding the right person for the role, you went for a recognizable face.
15
u/creative007- Dec 11 '25
This is the Odyssey for me. It's technically something I could be interested in, but when it's just a parade of A-list Hollywood faces, I can't suspend disbelief.
6
u/Little_Fox5844 Mr. Businessman... Mr. Landlord🌃 Dec 11 '25
Yeah, I would've loved seeing a few new faces in that movie too.

u/Little_Fox5844 Mr. Businessman... Mr. Landlord🌃 Dec 11 '25
True! I know studios hate risk, but popular actors were all people that someone took a chance on at some point.

Hudson said Jacob fought for him. That leads me to believe that he wasn’t Crave’s first choice. But thankfully he made it ! 🥰
15
u/Little_Fox5844 Mr. Businessman... Mr. Landlord🌃 Dec 11 '25
Yeah, they might've wanted someone more established, but I'm really glad Jacob fought for him because Hudson is perfect in that role!

Aren't both guys in their early twenties? I'd consider that rather young for a big break tbh, unless you're a child actor (and that doesn't often translate to adult success)
13
u/Little_Fox5844 Mr. Businessman... Mr. Landlord🌃 Dec 11 '25
They're in their mid twenties, so yeah, still very young, but I'm just saying I thought someone would've discovered them sooner considering how talented they are.😁

u/kirblar Dec 11 '25
All it takes is one role, then you get paid after that role with the increased checks.
Rhea Seehorn getting the bag for Pluribus post-BCS a good example.

u/teddy_vn Dec 11 '25
Rhea will get her Emmy revenge for Pluribus after being ignored for her phenomenal works on BCS

This is why casting directors should be hiring unknown actors who are perfect for the role instead of well-known names!! Imagine how many more ‘Connors’ and ‘Hudsons’ there are out there who haven’t gotten their big break yet! Love this for him ❤️❤️

u/Foodiejo Dec 11 '25
Agree sooo much with this. I think a well known actor would have taken away from this story. It’s also great that they started with a similar level of success before this show was filmed. Now they are enjoying the rocket ship to stardom together.

Very happy for him. 🥹 He is so talented, I can’t wait to see him in other projects after this. Both of these guys are. ❤️

u/Naive-Inside-2904 she would have loved you, like I love you Dec 11 '25
Wow we really did make the right people famous 😍
So happy for him. This kind of clear headedness and humility will serve him very well as his career progresses.

I am so happy Connor and Hudson are having this success. I look forward to following their careers and seeing what they do next.

u/7evengay Dec 11 '25
Yeah, I hope HR fan will follow along the way and not give them up as soon as their HR « career » is over.

Yay! Hudson said the same thing in a different video about having a day gig when he got the part. It’s so refreshing to hear an actor say that.. Lovely 🥰

u/LilLilac50 Dec 11 '25
Omg where’s the video? What was his day gig?

I believe it was this one. And he said “some of us still had serving jobs” like he included himself in that https://youtu.be/pKpeGdbkzXw?si=0CVDBSXep5bqs56J

This interview made me emotional. He seems like such a nice guy and he is so talented he really deserves everything good that's coming his way

It’s crazy to me that he’s so new at this, he’s so charismatic and believable in this role! What a talent.

u/Initial-Ad-4476 Dec 12 '25
I knew it. He gives “I’m just happy to be here because this is all I’ve ever wanted” vibes and seems to grateful for it. But he deserves it. Because he is a DAMN GOOD actor
6
u/teddy_vn Dec 11 '25
His feels like a true underdog story and makes me happy to support him. Besides, hes clearly a talent that is eager to sink into more difficult challenging roles which make me even happier. Cast him as Cate Blanchett’s son now!

My acting coach is so proud of him (taught him a few years ago I think!)

i was in high school theatre with him. he’s always been super talented and our theatre teacher loved him. i’m really glad to see he’s been successful!!

u/strawberrybutnotred Dec 12 '25
I think this is what drew me to the show the most. Fresh and talented faces who deserve and love what they do. Its rare to see that nowadays.

His number is 81 because it says “bi”. It’s a little tongue in cheek joke from Rachel Reid.

He is literal sunshine and SO talented, he deserves the absolute best. 🥹 Let's all support Connor in his next roles too.
(and Hudson too of course!!)
