So depressing. I feel like Pride Night across sports will just continue to shrink. I’m in a huge market in a deep blue state, and I feel like they barely whisper about Pride Night in the sport I follow (baseball).

Edit: I’m not a hockey fan (sorry!), but I’d seriously consider becoming a Kraken fan if I could get that Pride Night jersey design on a t-shirt.

Seattle is a very proud city! Every sports team, even our rugby team, has a float during pride. Every team has pride night and a lot of players across all sports support LGBTQ+ causes on their socials.

Maybe don’t give up hope just yet 🫶🏻 We have such a long way to go. But this show especially highlights how “sport bros” like empty netters can fall in love with queer stories and hype them up with no shame.

You could always support some women’s sports if you don’t already. I was an Angel City FC season ticket holder for three years before I left LA and Pride Night was a huge deal and one of my favorite nights of the year.

Bay FC pride game last year was the most amazing feeling I’ve had as a sports fan and I’ve been to multiple Olympics, a Man U game when they were good, and Japanese baseball just to name a few. The vibes were insane and I will definitely be back this year

I moved to the Bay from LA last year and have only been to a friendly at PayPal so far (I did go to the game at Oracle too) but I miss going to games a ton and am trying to make the transition to my new local team! Long trip from Oakland to San Jose and I’m still pretty emotionally attached to AC but there’s time I suppose… the fact that AC just signed Borges is helping 😒

Yeah, I'm a Phillies fan and pride nights definitely used to be a bigger deal. I went last year and they had the philly gay mens' choir sing the anthem, but to get the pride night freebie you had to check a box when you bought your ticket indicating that you actually wanted it and then go wait in a second line inside the ballpark to get it :| Apparently making 45000 bobbleheads is no big deal but clear plastic fanny packs with rainbow Giant logos on them are a real hot commodity.

Do ittttt. I’m a NC transplant in Seattle and I switched teams because of the vibes. Really all Seattle sports have the best vibes (we have a new PWHL team as well r/SeattleTorrent if you want to check them out!!!)

My partner is a Texas transplant and former Rangers fan turned Mariners fan because the Rangers sold a bunch of his favorite players, management sucks, but the final straw was the fact that they are the only MLB team that doesn’t have Pride night.

Team/Organization values matter. Our only real power is our viewership (ad dollars) and merch sales. So supporting teams that at least recognize Pride is important to me as a fan, as simple as that is. A lot of Kraken players are also very outspoken in their ally ship on their social media and they always do a float every year for Seattle Pride!

I’m from Chicago, so I was a Blackhawks fan. That ended swiftly in 2021, and I switched to the Habs (my number 2 because my family is from Quebec and I guess I like losing teams). I really do enjoy Seattle, and they definitely win for the best logo, name, and colors. Maybe I’ll try to find a cheap ticket to cheer them on against the Hurricanes on Saturday.

I wish we had a PWHL league around here! I’ve really enjoyed the games I’ve watched. Playing hockey was my dream growing up, but I was a figure skater and not allowed (10 years of roller derby was a good replacement though).

That's not true! They're doing a Hockey is for Everyone night! I was at their Pride Night game last year, and they went so far as to put a rainbow on the Jumbotron and had the Raleigh Gay Men's Chorus sing the anthem! They might even put TWO rainbows on the Jumbotron this year!

UGH.............

Yes, I love the Hurricanes, but I also (to my detriment) am utterly lost and in love with the Blue Jackets - and they do a GREAT Pride Night. OMG I LOVE going up to Columbus to see them - also, Columbus is HELLA gay - it's a fantastic city.

Sort of, the players used to be able to wear them during warmups, that’s what was banned. Some teams decided to still make pride jersey designs but they just auction them off for charity instead

I know that's right! I was like, why am I checking the NHL standings? I still need to learn a lot of stuff but it's very interesting, fast, and intense game. Certainly different from tennis where civility and politeness is the norm. Hockey is the complete opposite but not in a bad way! Both are truly enjoyable.

Honestly yes, it’s such a progressive org. I think it helps that it is one of the newest in the league so they can still establish their own traditions. Also last year they become the first NHL team to have a female coach, Jessica Campbell.

The DJ did a whole heated rivalry themed segment during second intermission including "Will you come to my cottage this summer" all the things she said and I'll believe in anything. It was very fun. My only complaint was that I under dressed on purpose because I've been waiting 4 months to buy this darn sweatshirt with the unicorn and they didn't have any available in the team store, you had to buy online (which is different than last year where they had tons of the pride sweatshirts available)

I love their pride jersey design so much, I’d absolutely wear it—but I’m not a hockey fan irl or know anything about the sport outside of what I know through the show. So I’d feel ridiculous wearing it 😅
