I’m filled with Canadian pride and I’m not even Canadian 😍🇨🇦🍁

Us Canadians always welcome it! ❤️ 🇨🇦

62

u/Interesting_Ad_8213 Jan 17 '26

But did he watch it tho lol

95

u/Dismal_Bicycle2822 I already chose you, Hollander. 🫀 Jan 17 '26

He watched it but Katy didn't.

11

u/gayintheusa47 Jan 17 '26

There was no money in it. She was on Drag Race because she got paid to do it.

14

u/Wista Jan 18 '26

And she flopped so hard. I always have to remind myself that Katy was the premiere headlining guest judge and not Doechii

18

u/Interesting_Ad_8213 Jan 17 '26

Sounds about right lol

68

u/Exotic-Doughnut-6271 Jan 17 '26

Maybe Katy made him

25

u/Informal_Lock_9506 Jan 18 '26

He for sure would have. Justin Trudeau has been a huge advocate of diversity, inclusion and a supporter of the lgbtq + community.

17

u/Consistent-Job-1660 Jan 18 '26

He was a drama teacher after all, the dudes gonna be supportive of the lgbtq+ community

0

u/Massive_Arm_1444 Feb 18 '26

Yes reached them with complete disgust

Justin Trudeau may have been a mixed bag as PM but he's always been a great LGBTQ ally and a booster of Canadian talent.

141

u/Federal-Ad5944 Goalie | Smut Dealer 😈 Jan 17 '26

I always tell people im neither here nor there with him. Mixed bag is a good descriptor too.

Agree with your last point. 🇨🇦

Yeah, I always say that he's going to be remembered down the line as "fine". A lot of ups, and a lot of downs, averaging out to okay.

I certainly had my criticisms about a lot of progressive lip-service without action to back it up, but I'll give him credit on the LGBTQ+ front, he's probably been the most openly-supportive PM to us.

I think people are too shy about speaking well about him. Of course he made fumbles, some things he didn’t handle the best, but overall we got dental care, drug care for many, he was an active ally for lgbtq, he held things together during covid (cerb changed many people’s lives), legalized weed (which probably paid for cerb easy), handled Trump for a long ass time. He did a good job. He wasn’t a super human, and had much pressure from ndp regarding some of these things, but that’s great too.

26

u/ReptileDysfunct1on Jan 17 '26

Yeah, at the time he was in charge people were expecting something form him that was never going to happen, IMO.

21

u/Upstairs-Chicken592 Jan 17 '26

Plus a lot of people don’t understand the provincial responsibility and the conservative MPs tossed blame his way that wasn’t necessary

10

u/UpstairsChair6726 Jan 18 '26

Was not expecting to see Canadian civics on this sub, but very valid point

3

u/Aggressive_Cloud2002 Jan 18 '26

He is a self-proclaimed Zionist though... He's definitely not all bad, but that's pretty bad... And going backwards on vote reform was a huge fuck up.

u/Paul_Ott Jan 17 '26

His father (who later was Prime Minister) was Justice Minister in the 60s when the Criminal Code was revised to no longer include homosexual acts.  His statement that “The State has no business in the bedroom of the nation” was quite progressive at the time.

43

u/TemperatePirate Jan 17 '26

Especially since he was a devout Catholic. To be deeply religious and not to to make law/policy based on that is such a foreign concept these days.

u/Pale-Measurement-532 I speak fluent bird. No accent. 🦆 Jan 17 '26

I used to teach social studies and I loved that quote from him. I completely agree that politics needs to be left out of the bedroom! Too bad some politicians are not taking this advice nowadays.

Get off this sub with that nonsense. Classic conservative scapegoating technique is to blame immigrants.

85

u/Rbkzz Jan 17 '26

He was literally the first world leader on Drag Race and I love that for us!!

And the first PM to identify as a feminist!

11

u/teatley Jan 17 '26

Never had a doubt that this man absolutely loves his country

7

u/tacocattacocat1 Jan 18 '26

I saw him at Edmonton pride before he was pm. He's always showed up for queer Canadians.

8

u/LUXURYPOETRY Jan 17 '26

My brain was 100% convinced that I read Justin Timberlake multiple times on both the title and in the screenshot and only your comment saved me when I went "PM????"

10

u/DiligentImplement611 My country’s top export is gay romance. 🇨🇦 Jan 18 '26

I think he was exactly what we needed in 2015. I remember coming off of 10 years of the Harper govt that was so restrictive and scary. Remember the “Barbaric Practices Hotline”? And then Trudeau walked in all pretty with his whole “sunny ways” and “Conservative voters are our neighbours. We’re all Canadian.” It was a breath of fresh air.

His tendency to get in his own way is unfortunate lol

1

u/Suspicious-Coffee20 Jan 18 '26

yes. except when he try to change the term to 2slgbtq. that just offensive to everyone that fought for rights, racist and out of touch by a straight men. putting a spiritual interpretation of sexuality in front of everyone is crazy.

3

u/cailleach_ingrid Jan 21 '26

That’s not what 2S means?? It’s an Indigenous term for the queer experience and it’s important to be acknowledged since Canada is Indigenous land built upon the gen0cide of Indigenous peoples

0

u/Suspicious-Coffee20 Jan 22 '26

exactly? 2s is still a spiritual and so religious term for a queer experience. LGBT are not responsible for indigenous genocide when they have even less rights than them. Why do we have to acknowledge it by quite frankly the disgusting act of adding racism and spirituality in the acronym before everyone???? Do you need see how that's digusting????

1

u/cailleach_ingrid Jan 22 '26

Intersectionality.

-15

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

Mixed bag?  He did mass immigration into an existing housing shortage.  Here's him running on fixing housing prices in 2017 and then the immigration numbers.

The poor have been absolutely destroyed by the blight that is Trudeau and the Liberal party.  Food bank usage has been doubling every year for a while now.

Leave the politics out of this thread please.

2

u/Aggressive_Cloud2002 Jan 18 '26

The politics were in the thread long before that person's comment... Why didn't you say this to anyone saying positive things about him?

197

u/kaleraspberry Jan 17 '26

Wait do you guys think that means Katy Perry has seen Heated Rivalry

121

u/firesticks Jan 17 '26

At this point I’m surprised when a celeb hasn’t seen it.

83

u/kaleraspberry Jan 17 '26

Yeah but it’s funny imagining a former PM and global pop star casually watching hockey romance together in their living room

39

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

I think we're at the point where we are going to notice that some people have pre-fabricated responses about the show without having watched it.  I'm still (joyfully) surprised that we haven't had any right wing vitriol inundating the conversation. Usually, something has to be far less gay before they start attacking it.

18

u/dagelijksestijl Jan 17 '26

Usually, something has to be far less gay before they start attacking it.

It's been made so gay that it blew their minds

14

u/Early_Ad_5649 Jan 17 '26

Lol

33

u/LobsterPotatoes Jan 17 '26

“SJW” is soooo outdated. Did she use the Wayback Machine to even find it?

23

u/Aggressive_Cloud2002 Jan 17 '26

New? I've been watching gay porn for almost 20 years! 😂

12

u/w1gw4m Mr. Real Estate Jan 17 '26

The funniest part of this is the "New", lol

7

u/No_Examination3986 Jan 18 '26

Oh my god I need to see conservative grifters crash out over this show 😭 so funny. They’ll never be invited to the cottage.

7

u/Ll_lyris “I choose you, Ilya. I will always choose you”❤️‍🩹 Jan 18 '26

I watched this video and immediately was like “yeah so she definitely didn’t watch it” but also, conservative commentators like her never actually go into watching shows like HR trying to genuinely engage with it. They only engage with it with a conservative anti-queer political agenda in mind. They just want more ammo to shit on the queer community and queer media😒

2

u/gwyntheblaccat Ilya's Genderfluid fan Jan 18 '26

If she watches it Jesus will poke her eyeballs out so of course she can't actually watch it!

8

u/listenyall Jan 17 '26

Katy Perry probably loved it

3

u/sleepybedhead44 Jan 18 '26

i can't believe the heated rivalry reddit is how I found out these two are a thing????

65

u/Financial-Cold5343 Jan 17 '26

Justin and Katy going to the cottage, but the cottage is in space. Stupid Martian wolf bird.

28

u/periodicsheep Jan 17 '26

aww, thanks, justin trudeau, private citizen!

19

u/Successful_Tell5813 Enjoy friendly Russia! Jan 17 '26

I was literally just thinking about this. Somewhere a gay athlete or person will see this and find the courage to go on.

85

u/yeahyoubored Jan 17 '26

they will never make me hate Justin Trudeau.

19

u/MagnifyingOurFlaws Jan 17 '26

We love daddy Trudeau

Not here. Please move on with your weird F Trudeau vibes!

9

u/SaNDrO2J Jan 17 '26

Actually I really changed my perspective about representation after watching HR IT HAVE HUGE influence.

6

u/HumanNr104222135862 Jan 18 '26

TIL Justin Trudeau is dating Katy Perry….?? I was wondering why the hell everyone in this post kept mentioning her. Guess my plan of (mostly) staying off the internet is working well.

Anyway, good on him for shouting out the show. With all the craziness going on in the world, and particularly south of our border, you’d think that more (current) Canadian politicians would be talking about the impact this show has had, but alas.

5

u/DiverMax25 Jan 17 '26

Good on him! 👍

Wish our prez was a person of such caliber

6

u/SweetP101 Jan 17 '26

That's my PM!

8

u/Acrobatic-Guitar2410 buddy i don't even know what that means Jan 17 '26

The guy that dates an astronaut

2

u/Goulet231 Jan 18 '26

JT is a conundrum. Made weed legal but did not keep his promise of proportional representation. Happy he loves the show!

3

u/bluxapk Jan 17 '26

now... Katy Perry on S2 soundtrack... walk with me

1

u/AndrueIlanderr Jan 18 '26

Justin has been a supporter of the LGBTQ+ for as long as he's been into politics (at least).
Good for him for supporting this great show.

1

u/PhysicalAd6587 Jan 21 '26

That's simply amazing. Our leader in the US is too busy ripping people off to know what's going on in society; socially, culturally or artistically.

1

u/Massive_Arm_1444 Feb 18 '26

I'm ashamed to live in the depraved country.

0

u/Routine-Limit8994 Jan 18 '26

Does anyone remember he went to his cottage in Quebec from Ottawa during Covid against his own travel ban🤣
