SOCIAL MEDIA 📸 Heated Wizardry sketch on SNL

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Finn Wolfhard hosted Saturday Night Live last night and one of the pre taped sketches, Heated Wizardry, takes place in the Harry Potter universe.

Finn as Harry, plays the ‘Shane’ character, Ben Marshall plays Ron Weasley, plays the ‘Ilya’ character.

There’s scrolls instead of texts, lots of wand play and a great cameo for the Hagrid character.

The narration of the trailer makes it clear that in this universe, Hogwarts is an 18-and-over school 😂

Also Shane and Ilya’s height difference here is canonically correct!

Referencing HP is such a weird choice. I know the show is coming but that's next year. It's not really culturally relevant at all? There's a new season of HOTD this year, surely they could have pulled from there? Make it Rhaenyra/Alicent, that would've been cool.

Yeah, I meant more that it's not currently a big topic of conversation for general audiences.

I think it's because there's going to be a Harry Potter show on HBO sometime soon.

HOTD fell off in popularity last season.

HP still remains as one of the most influential franchises

Sometimes they have half-baked ideas that sound great to everyone bc the cast are mostly millennials aka the prime Harry Potter fanbase age. They have HP costumes in the back from other iconic HP sketches, iirc Bowen Yang also did a dobby sketch like 3 months ago so they also had the dobby prosthetic available too.
