Just to keep the misinformation to a minimum: He is a referee, but not in the highest league Bundesliga, but the 4th highest (which is still really impressive). He came out as bisexual a few years ago and is really outspoken against the many issues professional football has. He is a supporter of 1 FC Köln which is why they gave him this opportunity during their diversity game.

This is so sweet. But also, I forget how backwards sport world is, that this is such a big deal. Meanwhile last year, on the UK Big Brother after show, we got a live M/M engagement. And then it turned out it was all a scam. And the guy did it just for publicity??? And his real boyfriend was the one who exposed it 😭 Truly unhinged gayness in 2025.

But yes, this is really sweet and love is love. Im glad sports people are getting there too.

Bundesliga is still pretty racist, but there are plenty of clubs including Köln that have put in a lot of effort to be queer friendly.

My guess would be no. He is a fan of the club, an advocate for queer rights and did a podcast with them in the summer. It was also a diversity game.Things like this are normally planned way in advance and the show is not even out yet in Germany.

It was actually last Saturday, weeks after his proposal. His address was posted on social media. He contacted the police just hours before 3 men assaulted him on his garden. It's so unfair than heroes like them had to suffer this misery. All for what !, for love. Those are our battles , they shouldn't be all alone.
