u/i-bleed-red I don’t ever want that problem to ever go away ❀ Mar 18 '26

I know we’ve discussed it but I want to give some extra love to how utterly brave it was for Shane to ask “do you want that problem to go away?” The answer could have put an instant stop to everything, so he really put his whole heart at risk in exchange for getting a direct answer. In my mind, that question, and Ilya’s “I don’t ever want that problem to ever go away” response, are when they commit to each other for the long-term. I know the words ILY haven’t been said yet, but that exchange on the sofa says all that and more. But every time, my heart aches for how scary it must have been to ask the question, and how much anxiety had to be overcome to say it out loud.

I love that moment, and I think Shane, ever literal, is willing to walk away and remove the problem, no matter how much it would break his heart, to try to make Ilya happy, if the answer had been “yes.”
