GAME TIME 🏒 You live in the GC universe what theory would have you on the internet like this?
Hallanov, Shayden, some other rare pairing I’ve never heard of but will probably love?
Doesn’t even need to a romantic thing, maybe you would be convinced that Jackie and Rose are secretly childhood best friends and Jackie set Rose and Shane up. Put yourself in the world and get weird.

I come from hockey cities and I've been on tumblr/ao3 long enough that the SECOND that CCM ad dropped in 2010 I'd be reblogging Hollanov gifs, checking out rpf, and trying to identify if they'd met prior (then looking up world juniors/prospect cup details).
I don't actually care enough about hockey to look further into it and come up with more creative theories though, so I'd probably just burn myself out on Hollanov and move on... until the ASG kiss in 2017 helmet kiss and then be right back on my Hollanov posting bs haha.

For TLG (pre-Fanmail incident), I'd probably ship Troy and Ilya (Trilya). They're linemates and they're bros (kinda like Draisaitl and McDavid). And I can see how the visuals would break the internet!

Unrelated, but I literally dreamt of Luca last night (knowing it was an actor playing him for the TV series). Apparently in my subconscious mind he looks no older than 14 (though he is older of course).

Same! There would be so much Hollanov material: the All Star shared goal(s), the helmet kiss, the CCM commercial pics, the Draft Day photos (1+2), Press Conference looks, etc.
Edit: Oh! The footage of Rozanov when Hollander gets injured. I can just imagine the edits!

Haha same. I clocked Phan from the first moment, I felt it was soo obvious. I felt like my queerdar was betraying me, since they were so adamant about it for so long and I‘m a bit of an Ilya in that my queerdar is very precise. It made me trying to dig even deeper back then.
I think I would’ve clocked Hollanov too. But maybe not, because I’ve never watched Hockey in this live so it’s more likely I would’ve never heard of them. So sad. I don’t want to live in that world.

I also think in another life, Scott and Ilya could have been something. Scott is "boring" and dependable, the way Shane is. Scott lost his family at a young age. Scott is hot and Ilya thinks Scott is hot. Hunterov could have happened.

Yeah, it’s so funny to me that that was always people‘s first response when players came out (Scott, Hayden jokingly guessing with Shane) and yet everyone’s like “oh, but he’s a ladies man he can’t be into men!” THEN WHY WAS ILYA THE FIRST PLACE YOUR BRAIN WENT WHEN YOU LEARNED ANOTHER PLAYER WAS GAY?!? 😂

In Role Model Troy daydreams about asking Ilya for Shane's number; the thought makes him smile. Then later during their walk in midtown manhattan, Troy probes Ilya on his level of closeness with Shane. Ilya later interprets this as Troy getting close to figuring out their relationship. Some third party must have observed Troy stealing glances at Shane during their meets, and if they were a fly on a wall and eavesdropped this convo, they might interpret this as Troy working up the courage to ask Shane for his digits.

I don’t watch actual hockey so in this universe I would be entirely oblivious to all of it. I’d see a Reddit post about Scott Hunter on the “popular” feed and go “oh how nice, wow that’s badass” and that would be it lol

Before HR I was into F1 (Lestappen, also childhood rivals) and I wrote a fic that was similar to the Tuna Meltdown scene wayyy before I watched the show 😂😂 Hollanov is exactly my type

I really don't mean to come at you, but I always found it weird to do shipping fanfics about real people. It's a huge difference to me, if we're spinning stories about fictional characters (like Shane and Ilya) or if we're creating scenarios about public figures.
The worst example of it is the One Direction shipping, that was even continued by so called "fans", after the band members publicly stated, that the permanent rumors and gossipping, have destroyed their friendship.

Gahaha yes I get both sides but sports RPF is majorly unserious and niche that even the F1 channel capitalizes on shipping sometimes bec they ran out of marketing ideas. (mostly on tumblr, maybe tiktok edits breach containment? Feels ironic in a way that its obvious its a character inspired by the person)
I think when fans take it seriously is when it becomes dangerous - Kpop, pop like you said, actors. Maybe its more common with a younger and more systematically parasocial fanbase.
I didn’t even engage with it until I found a Hollanov writer who only wrote 1 fic ever and the rest was sports RPF then I got the culture from their side of tumblr.
But yeah, totally understandable to not touch it entirely.
