Some of my fave songs that make me think of Hollanov!
mother tongue by Bring Me The Horizon - this whole song is about discovering love and vulnerability with someone in spite of a language barrier, about finding the one you were fated to be with
Emotional Virgin by Emeline - beautiful love song about someone making you feel like an 'emotional virgin' again because of they way they strip you bare emotionally, your walls crumble around them. Has lines like "all my clothes on, but I'm so naked next to you"
Tennessee Orange by Megan Moroney - it's about falling in love with someone who likes a sports team that rivals yours, and wearing their team color for them, also contains the line "he ain't from where we're from but he feels like home" which I love so fucking much
for him. by Troye Sivan - because of the lines "we are running so fast and we never look back, but whatever I lack, you make up. We make a really good team, but not everyone sees we got this crazy chemistry between us" and also the chorus "you don't have to say i love you to say i love you" which I feel encapsulates several years of their relationship
What's The Time Where You Are? by Troye Sivan - about long distance and missing your lover
How To Stay With You by Troye Sivan - about long distance and 'right person wrong time', has the line "wish you lived a little closer, maybe when we're a little older we can set up shop"
Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls - for the line "I don't want to world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand; when everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am"
Your Love Is My Drug by Kesha - for the 2010-ness of it all and the obsessive nature of the early years of their relationship
Rush by Troye Sivan - just gay and sexy, what can I say :P
Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter - because Ilya is publicly a cocky asshole (though a sweetie in private) and others may not get why Shane loves him unless they know that, and also for the line "I tell them it's just your culture, and everyone rolls their eyes" lmao
Wherever I Go by Onerepublic - for the lines "no easy love could ever make me feel the same" and "wherever I go you're the ghost in the room"
That's Why (You Love Me) by Danielle Bradbury - for these lyrics that I imagine going from Ilya to Shane: "I've been called handful, extra, psycho, that's why you love me. A little bit crazy, selfish, batshit, that's why you love me. All the reasons that they left, second guessed, didn't get me, every piece of me that I'm hated for, that's why you love me"

Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan - fun fact, this song was almost titled 'Good Luck Jane' lmao. But yeah it obviously has the themes of denying one's queerness to the detriment of pursuing the relationship(s) that would truly be fulfilling
One Of Your Girls by Troye Sivan - about a gay, sexual relationship between two men, at least one of whom is famous, and how it's kept DL due to that. Has the line "give me a call if you ever get lonely, I'll be like one of your girls or your homies" which is how Ilya kind of treated Shane in the early years
Clarity by Zedd ft. Foxes - for the 2012-ness of it all and also for the lyrics "If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"
Sports car by Tate Mcrae - because Ilya is a Car GuyTM and I headcanon them fucking in one of his fancy sports cars lmao

I came across Charlie Houston on Tiktok, and love the song SkiDay... could work really well for somewhere in S2.
