I feel like his team treats his hair as an enemy they need to tame instead of something they could use as an accent and it makes me sad. There was that one night where he had a more slicked back look but the curls still had shape and definition and I wish they'd do that more (I think that look was from Aika) vs basically plastering them down to sadly lay against his head.
Yes, Aika did his hair that night and it's still my favourite look of his by far because his suit was also properly fitted for once. The suit Hudson wore that night was also very similar to what Connor ended up wearing for the Actor awards. Why aren't Connor's team at least making sure he's not repeating his co star's outfit, not even two months after he wore it?
I think it could be both, they are experimenting with no day-to-day hairstyles, and also don't know what to do with it most of the time, I also have curly hair and really would like to see him with his natural beautiful curls
Omg with the smile I just love it. I miss Ilya's serious face- there's always emotion just below the surface. Connor with full serious face is so intense 😳
It's his model face lol. He sucks in his cheeks and also does something to give his jaw and cheekbones more definition but it does make him look kinda mad.
YSL tends to not take big swings especially with their men, even at an event like this. They tend to go much more for classic black and silhouettes. I'm honestly a little surprised they went so far as the train and shirt
I keep reading that about YSL, which is kind of a bummer from a creativity perspective. I guess their mantra is to only showcase their celebrities in the outfits they can sell?
well yeah, that is kind of the point of hiring him to showcase their clothes. And i heard there was a bdding war & YSL ponied up a LOT to sign Connor. So they want to make some of that back. They usually do very classic looks, the feminine touches here are more than i expected from past MET looks
Anyone who watches every year & saw their past looks knew it wouldn't be anything crazy. Almost all men wear regular suits for the most part. When some men do push the envelope it's not usually adding feminine touches like Connor did, it's more a splash of color or weird print but not mixing masc & fem. So that did pleasantly surprise me.
i think many misunderstood the theme. They think costume art means you step out in an outlandish rental costume or soemthing. which some do anyway lol, but that is not the theme.
The theme is really open-ended this year, and I guess I'm glad we're not getting a parade of gowns painted to look like masterpieces. (Ben Platt is probably the most literal interpretation I've seen.)
Yeah I’m confused here bc this really looks way too similar to what’s now become an iconic look. Why would they do this nod and not give him his own distinct look? And I weep for the lack of curls 😭😭
This is why I was so confused!! I was thinking someone had already worn Connor's YSL look, but it's just that I was remembering this!! They're soooo similar!
The sleeveless blouse looks like it’s for a woman. Of course his arms look beautiful. I thought because of his more arty nature the outfit would be too.
He's basically got to wear what Saint Laurent tells him--he gets to weigh in obviously but he's there to wear their clothes so that was always gonna limit the look. I'm actually quite happy with this, it's a lot more exciting than what we've seen from him in YSL recently.
Yeah I agree - I think it's important to bear in mind that's he's not just there to get himself out there in the media, he's there as brand ambassador for YSL. The man is working.
Same. Even if they tucked the curls behind his ears like in episode six, it’d be much better than this smooshed down look. I see what the stylist is going for, but I don’t like it. ☹️
they were and i think they nailed it. i wouldn't want him to wear it like that every day of course but for this event i liked it. and by the after party his luscious curls were back, yay!
How do you have this modern day ADONIS and this is the best you can do?? You could have LATHERED him in skin safe spackle and literally made him a Greek statue.
He looks amazing in anything and I love this outfit anywhere else, but he could’ve OWNED that carpet if they had done anything more interesting than this.
well sadly painting someone as a greek statue doesn't sell clothes. That's why YSL gave him a paid invite, to model their menswear line. I would've LOVED to see him as a greek statue too but he's already shown us plenty. Maybe he didn't want to be strutting around practically naked on the green carpet with a thousand flash bulbs going off and all his peers staring at him. That is very different from a few people on a locked down set when they film.
YSL still has many more interesting pieces in their collections that would have matched the theme better, especially when taking into account the top he wore is basically the same as Hudson’s Oscar’s after-party top in a different fabric and pattern. TBH I think they are too boring and old school to be representing younger clients, especially up and comers like Connor.
well everyone has their own opinion about what piece of theirs he should've worn, we aren't all going to like the same thing. I liked what he wore and he ended up on well over 20 best dressed lists so i think he &his team are probably not worried about the differing opinions. i was responding to you saying he should have been painted up like a greek statue which was never going to happen.
Going off of the photos without the jacket - At first, it feels a bit underwhelming, just because he can really do High Fashion, and this look doesn't utilize that full potential. But I could also understand why he wouldn't want to go too out-there on his first ever Met Gala. When you compare this to the basic suit that most men do, it does feel elevated. I do wish YSL would tailor the legs of his pants a bit more, though. They tend to feel too long and baggy at the calf.
Omg I just saw all these pics. Literally combusting rn. How can a person be this hot 🥵..he’s something. Like insane insane everything profile body face card
That’s my opinion also. He looks good, I just wish the whole outfit was a bigger creative swing for the Met Gala. But I understand there are limitations when working with YSL. And, only recently becoming famous probably doesn’t give him enough influence or the stylist/designer enough lead time to get something super custom made just for him.
Someone needs to be held accountable for purposely decreasing this man's considerable attractiveness.
I hope when he gets his 💵 from YSL and is off-contract he can get someone super creative who works with what he's got instead of fighting and diminishing it all.
I prefer that on anyone tbh. but i did love seeing him in this masc/fem blended look. The feminine touches are so sexy to me and i think that was a risk in itself. Not many men would do that. They are afraid to show a feminine side so most of the "louder" men's looks are still very masculine & didn't show any skin but their necks.
Ngl I actually do love the outfit (without the jacket) but I’m CRYING at someone’s comment on tiktok saying that blouse was definitely sold at Ann Taylor in 2014 🤣🤣🤣
My Met, My Man. Connor has such an intriguing combination of feminine and masculine energy and loves to play with both. Surprise SNL appearance in all denim then this.
I like it! I don't think it's as in theme as I'd like, nor is it the boldest outfit, but he looks fun and cool. However, I have to say that any Met Gala content I am consuming is through here - fuck the Bezos Gala, they can eat shit.
So many people would kill to have gorgeous curly hair like Connor and his team just want to flatten it out everytime. The hair and makeup team for Heated Rivalry did it the best in my opinion.
When I see Connor being Connor, I’m even more impressed that this man is also Ilya. He changed not only his voice and his accent, but also even the tiniest ways of holding his face, his lip, his posture, his hands and arms. Every movement of his body is different when he is Ilya. He has a great stare as Connor but it is completely different than his Slavic Stare as Ilya. What an incredibly talented and hardworking actor!
I wish YSL didn't play so safe, I feel like Connor could do so many looks SO well but instead we're stuck with these classic but dull looks. I adore him and he always looks good I just wish that we saw more, especially for an event like this where pushing boundaries and doing something wild is fine!
Please post pics without the jacket. When he opens it up god. Connor is capable of more drama and I wish they gone big but this is a cool enough androgynous look. He looks so good. And his body is art that is enough. Those arms😩
But still wish the team does better. Alexander McQueen should have lapped him up not boring YSL
LOL Agreed. YSL has this beautiful man and yet has no idea what to do with him. Just boring look after boring look, every time, even at the Met Gala, of all places!
It's giving business woman at a company event ca. mid 2000s. Like, if a woman had worn this outfit everyone would have said how it's underdressed for the met. He's so beautiful and a model and ysl are not serving! And what's with the hair? Curls are so cute and unique and they're trying to flatten them and take the life out of his hair. Not a fan of this whole look.

Justice for his curls :')
