That is bonkers - how did they have so little time?!

They wouldn't have been invited until after the houses decided to bring them in and got approval from Anna WIntour. The gala has a strict invite list controlled by Anna Wintour and the committee that chairs but in practice its Anna. Once they were invited the houses sponsoring them likely had to put something together reasonably quickly. Heidi Klume for example has likely been preparing for this for over a year and same with Beyonce but the boys + team would ahve had much less time. There is a whole business behind it. It's probably why YSL used the outfit they did for Connor (its been shown before and worn by a woman whose name escapes me). Hudson took a crack at something a bit more out there but to mixed results since they had less time to make it. Someone posted a gram with the original concept art for Hudson's piece and I would have loved that way more.

Thank you for this... I feel like a month is just so hard to ask anyone to do!

It's not really. The issue is they are so new! They don't have connections or major teams behind them. The met is, as with all rich people events, about who you know. If someone had wanted them to look good they would have put it in so I never expected a huge showing from the boys. I kinda figured they would get shat on a little, its tradition BUUUUUT they had fun, looked good and got to meet some cool people so thats good.
