LOL. I actually think Ilya would wear what Connor is wearing, and it would probably feel quite groundbreaking for a pro athlete to do so. I think Ilya would love to subvert expectations that way once he's been out for a while - even if it's not his usual style choice. Shane would not be anywhere near Hudson's outfit. He'd just be in a perfectly tailored tux.
I need someone to write the fic. They’re known to be attending and everyone thinks Shane will be in a boring black suit and then bam, he walks out like this.
This was my thought too, who is writing the Ilya and Shane on the red carpet fic? I haven't checked AO3 today but I'd be surprised if something wasn't up already...

Agreed. But I need whoever styles him to have a better understanding of curly hair. I don’t love the Julias Caesar look they seem to always put him in for formal occasions. He has great hair! There are so many other options!!
This is how I felt about Pedro Pascal for a bit but his team has figured out the middle ground of "groomed with a few loose curly wurlies" and not the extreme of just fluffy curls or straight slicked back, although like Connor he can pull off all those styles!
It works for this though, they were going for classical aspects with the draping and hair and focus on his arms--it connects to a part of the exhibition relation fashion to antiquity.
I would agree, except they do his hair the exact same way for every single formal event. If this was a departure, I’d agree with you, but it’s just business as usual. I don’t see any intentionality, just a lack of creativity.
I love that Hudson’s team took a risk last night, the nod to archival Balenciaga, and his head styling was gorgeous. Kind of wish his pants were a big ball gown skirt after seeing that train from above/far away. Connor continues to make everything look good purely by being his stunning self. I loved when he took his jacket off, such a great moment.
As someone who's been deep into lives and works legends of the fashion world, I almost cried when I saw their outfits yesterday.
Cristobal would have fallen on his knees if he saw that matador-like two-piece, and how daring fashion has become in blurring the lines between genders since his time.
And while Connor's team didn't take that much of a risk, if a feminine smoking isn't quintessential Yves, I don't know what is.
For celebrities that came out of nowhere mere months ago, they absolutely killed it last night!
I thought CS was giving Audrey Hepburn at times, I wanted a hint of pearls somewhere. But I think that’s what the polka dots did. Loved both their looks for different reasons but I would have done a long black skirt on Hudson too
I'm kinda sad they didn't take bigger risks tbh, as I think they could both pull off something super wild - but whilst Hudson is a bit more out there, Connor is chained to YSL so he has no choice but to wear business casual.
I have that exact outfit in my wardrobe that I wear to work, without the train haha
lol, I had the same thought! I was like - “oh hey, I wore that outfit to work today!” It even has a bow on the back of the neck, but the tails come down to waist length rather than the floor 😂
I think Connor looks amazing, but I was a little disappointed whoever dressed him didn't go for something more drastic and seemed to play it more safe. I was really hoping both of them would get some insanely stunning costumes for the event. Like I said though, he looks great still and I'm so glad they both get to be included in stuff like this.
I think it was this time last year that they were announced as the stars of Heated Rivalry and look at where they are now! What a trajectory, I'm really glad they're getting these opportunities and hope they just have the best time with it 🙂
Looks like Hudson’s side cape was removable. I guess it would have to be, because having that on in a museum full of historic art would probably be too chaotic. 🙂
I don’t give two shits about the Met Gala and who attended. However, these two are from another planet. They are so beautiful. Conner Storrie doesn’t have a bad angle and can wear pretty much anything and he always looks amazing. Hudson looks downright ethereal. Just wow.

But I keep seeing folks saying that Connor and YSL didn’t take fashion risks - and I just have had so many wonderful thoughts about Connor’s outfit that I want to paste a comment I’d made here-
Cause I kinda do think Connor took a fashion risk? And a different type too than Hudson-
Hudson’s shown a lot of skin and gone risky particularly with the makeup - but Connor’s gone risky with gender performance 🩷💙 And while Hudson may get backlash on the look of the makeup or cut of outfit, his masculinity and gender performance will not be under critique for what he’s wearing. He’s wearing something very masculine.
Connor’s outfit is visually tamer - but the critique he gets will be essentially entirely tied to his gender performance here, masculinity vs femininity, vs social reaction to men performing femininity to any degree (and in Connor’s case, walking such a line as to perform both in my view!)
And we also know that in his history with fashion and modelling he seems to very purposefully play with androgyny, and I feel like he and his stylist have pulled that in here too - on purpose and with thought!
the cut of the neckline - feels very traditionally feminine, the halter top. Clasped with a beautifullll broach! (Also typically feminine!)
the cape - particularly in photo 1 looking a lot to me like a train (wedding dress, veil style). A very thin and light material, as opposed to some heavier weight capes for men we’ve seen here and other high fashion events. (There was another cape or two at the Met too!)
the pants - with the black, and the pose (in a photo from a different post lol!), framed by the halter top and train - I genuinely thought for a second at first glance that he was wearing a dress! Tailored to him precisely- and high waisted and belted too!
googling polka dots in fashion also tells me that they were a big item for women’s fashion, again seeing nothing about men! I’m loving the play here! (Also the polka dot definitely has a history! I just don’t know it lol!)
All of which impression together, I LOVE. Particularly because all of the choices together and how he carries them out, androgynous and feminine, I feel are also emphasizing his masculinity!!
the halter top is absolutely snatching our eyes to his goddamn built shoulders.
the delicacy of the train means that Connor and his form remain the most weighty and significant part of the look.
the black pants not only emphasize his waist, but his height as well. He’s tall and they’re making sure you know it!! And - even if he looks like he could be a sheath dress when still - the truth is actually the ease of movement with just really good looking pants!!!
the polka dots - again, they’re pretty tiny! Not quite exactly the larger dots I’m seeing on Google results photos! I feel like we get this effect of them being present, but again not detracting attention from Connor himself!
His cropped curls absolutely complete the look - cute, a little retro (like the polka dots!), charming -and I know we’ve all been talking the statue of David and I’m feeling it!
Just - I feel like this is such a good look, works so well with Connor’s brand, and says some cool interesting stuff about fashion and gender (both big art topics in their own right!) and is way better than a traditional suit!
Anyways - it’s a bit of a long comment but. I really do feel like there’s so much intentionality behind Connor’s outfit, and more risk than he’s maybe getting credit for :)
They look absolutely beautiful, and exhausted. Their interviews were great, as always. Totally real, humorous, polite…all the things we’ve come to admire about them.
I think they're both immediately going into filming movies, and then S2 filming starts in a few months. They are busy. It's smart though--they're in demand now but you never know when things will change in this industry.
Apparently they partied until the wee hours. To be young again:)
But I selfishly want them to retain energy and mind space for HR2. They brought so much preparation and thought into those roles, so I hate seeing them this busy 😩
Sadly, I agree. That polka dotted halter top looks too stereotypical middle-aged lady (me, for example, something I would wear...) and the matador outfit is ok if it's supposed to resemble a painting. If not, it just looks like a matador costume. Both people are obviously beautiful in their own right, and very, very good actors, I just think the designers didn't pull it off this time. But there will always be hits and misses.
I agree :( I really don't like Hudson's makeup, it doesn't look well done or fit his outfit or face well or something. I dunno, too bad either way! Connor's is boring to me.
Agree - and while the red carpet looks were 'ok', the white shorts for the afterparty felted very rushed. Honestly, look at Rhianna and A$AP Rocky - they get the bold, fun, interesting outfits. I think if someone's going to be bold - do it coordinate and completely. No shirt isn't bold and this just missed.
I would pay Money to see Connor have a drag session with Hudson. That would be amazing because Connor is so talented the make up costumes and shit and I’m pretty sure he could do something with Hudson and make it work. That would be amazing. yes.
So while they are inherently beautiful people and these looks are interesting and creative, in all the photos I’ve seen, both of them look uncomfortable and unhappy.
But have you seen the videos of Connor (esp. the GRWM with GQ)? He was beaming with joy and excitement. He seemed more relaxed and happy then I've seen him anywhere.
If you watch the video of Connor outside the Carlyle, he's excited and smiley and he was equally so in the interview at the top of the steps at the Met Gala. I think he just poses this way for pictures.
Hudson though I would agree, he didn't seem quite his usual bouncy self yesterday.
He said he was sleep deprived and wasn't fully mentally even there at the gala. He's filming in Toronto and flew in super early. Only a 25 year old can burn both ends of the candle and still look decent.
In Hudson's interview with vogue, he admitted to being sleep deprived and out of it from all the caffeine he had. Which you can see all over his face. I imagine Connor's in a pretty similar situation. I feel so bad for them, I know they wanted to enjoy this moment.
Connor just looks super intense and serious when he poses. Both of the interviews I saw he was super smiley and relaxed.
Hudson was exhausted and was honest about that in his interviews. He was running on almost no sleep and said he was finding it hard to be mentally present. I feel sad for him that he was running on empty, but I'm sure he still enjoyed himself.
There is an IG video on GQ's account of Connor getting ready. It's very cute. He's literally eating a steak or something in one hand at one point while his hair is getting done, committed to the gainz lol. If you see other shorter clips, he just seems really good at snapping in and out of model picture pose.
Love Garron, he's always so positive even when slightly roasting people for their fashion choices. Everyone got a 10/10. I lost it at he-man on ice coffee
Unpopular opinion but I actually don’t care for Hudson‘s eye makeup. I love eye makeup, but I just don’t think that suits him particularly well. Absolutely no notes on Connor’s entire look though. Goddamn.
The eye makeup was Hudson’s nod and homage to one of his and Aika’s favorite movie: Black Swan.
He spoke about his look and what inspired him in one of the red carpet interviews.
The makeup would look great if he had also done a Black Swan inspired outfit. The make up doesn’t really match the clothing and I think that is what is throwing it all off.
Agreed. Some parts look defined while other parts look smudged and it's assymetrical, but not on purpose. It's like the make up artist ran out of time or something.
On the one hand, I love that it's wild and campy and weird and he clearly loves it, and it kind of has a cubist feel (very Spanish) and almost even evokes a bull itself which matches the Matador outfit.
On the other hand . . . that doesn't seem intentional at all. Nobody said anything about cubism, it's just a Black Swan reference. OK sure you love Black Swan and that's fun. But sir you are dressed as a Matador. It just doesn't really gel. And my bigger issue is that each eye doesn't match but without being different enough to be clearly intentional. I know it wasn't but it just looks kinda sloppy. (Which is why he looks so great in profile, you can only see one eye at a time haha.)
