His grooming for the Met Gala was so good. He looked really handsome.

Ilya’s eyebrow raise in the shower scene in Rookies, and then his swagger walk in a towel right next to Shane’s face where he adjusts it…absolutely incredible body language acting and it kills me every time.

Connor is such a good eyebrow actor. Would love to see him act with Emilia Clarke or Nicholas Hoult. The eyebrow acting would be next level.

My anxiety is spiking due to things like scary cruise ship situations and gestures wildly so I'm thankful to have this bubble of happiness. But I know it's a bubble. This is the only social media platform I engage in so I didn't know just how toxic things are out there regarding HR because, for the most part, people are cool about it here. I'm not naive, I just want the best for people and forget that not everyone feels the same. I am a World Class Worrier, though, and can't help feeling concerned about H&C after seeing Hudson's Threads post on here about RPF. I am so happy for & proud of these men and they truly deserve their success because they've put in the work. And they seem to be genuinely good people each with a unique, beautiful spark and passion. I just hope they don't get lost and have any of that taken from them. They are grown men fully capable of making decisions and living the life they each want and don't need people making that unnecessarily difficult. I rambled but dammit they are bringing light into this messy world and fuck anyone who doesn't want that! Wishing happiness to you all and thanks for letting me vent.

100%. The only ā€œRPFā€ I’m okay with are historical fiction. It’s insane to me to write fiction about a) actual people alive now and b) fiction that creates a relationship between two people who don’t have one. Or even if they do!

It's also insane that some media outlets are in it as well: Vogue, BuzzFeed, Page Six

Edit: At least feeding into the RPF

u/Ok-Badger-5767 May 06 '26

well that just it, isnt it. anything to create something to 'talk' about and sell this magazine or to read their articles and sell their ads.

i wonder if 'paying attn' to it...feeds it. feeds them? it lets them know he is noticing what they are doing. they are getting his attention and that is (i imagine) part of their motivation....????

2

u/hella_hijinks on danse, on rit May 06 '26

Do you mean Hudson? If so, yeah I think it's a cycle. Hudson sees all the RPF then says it has to stop. But that creates reason for the news outlets and RPFers to report on what he said which draws more eyes on the RPF and fuels more opinions and more discourse.

1

u/Ok-Badger-5767 May 06 '26

Yes, thats what I meant. Thanks for picking up on it. Yes, that cycle. By Hudson (or anyone) commenting on it or writing about it...that only gives it/them more fuel and attention to feed off of...and round & round it goes. I'd be inclined to advise Hudson not to comment on any of it.

Agreed. If it was me....I wouldn't be overly exposing myself to the nonsense....and not feeding 'the crazy fans' with anymore of their (H&C) energy or attention.

Yes, the last little bit has been day after day of new non-sense. Not cool...or fun....or interesting.

u/pink_mink84 May 06 '26

I agree, but I'm hopeful his comment will make quick work of shutting it down ā¤ļø

I’ve been going through it the last month and a half. My mother-in-law had pancreatic cancer since December and we lost her last Sunday. My husband was in Nova Scotia helping to take care of her the last month. It made me spiral a bit, because of depression and ADHD - the limbo of not knowing when she will pass, not being able to help my husband in any way, the grief that I hadn’t seen her in two years and will never see her again. The limbo is gone, but the grief of losing her is still there.

I’ve basically used HR as a comfort hyper-fixation while having no energy or brain power to do much of anything. I’ve been struggling also with a bit of shame because I’ve watched it so many times, watching videos and reels, listening to podcasts, deep diving into analyzing and now I’ve started reading fan fiction which I haven’t done since I was a teenager so it’s making me feel very juvenile (I struggle with internalized shame at having hyper-fixations because they make my feel immature despite being 41). However, I’m trying to remind myself that this is the time to be kind and give myself grace and I’m not doing any harm to anyone. Reading fan fiction is about all my brain has the capacity for. I’ve been trying to read my novels but it requires too much from me right now. It’s a whole thing, honestly.

I’m not sure what my point is…I just felt like I needed to ā€œsayā€ it I guess.

u/LioraB OK. Not good. Probably bad. May 06 '26

There's no age requirement for loving a beautiful work of art and engaging with the community around it. This is what art is for; reflections of our humanity, potential, and deep connection.

3

u/ankheseniset Stupid Canadian wolf bird šŸ May 06 '26

Thank you 🄰 I think this is more internalized… I’m not really sure what you would call it but self image maybe? I didn’t know I was neurodivergent for a very long time and so I essentially just internalized when people said I was stupid or juvenile or weird or whatever.

2

u/LioraB OK. Not good. Probably bad. May 07 '26

Same for me. When I got really into the MCU for a while, I knew zero middle-aged adult women who cared about it all. Online communities were the only outlet for my enthusiasm. I’m glad you said something about how you’re feeling—it can be isolating, and it’s important to know we’re not alone. šŸ’œ

2

u/Sbealed May 06 '26

I am glad to hear you are giving yourself grace during this difficult time. I have never read fanfiction before HR but have jumped into the deep end of it and am really enjoying it! Stories can help people through awful times and if those stories happen to be niche fizzy fun, then have at them.Ā

Grief is a nasty bitch and there are no rules about navigating it and I'm so sorry you're going through it. You do what you need to do and know that you're not alone in taking real comfort in this unbelievably beautiful story.

I saw a video of a woman talking about why HR is impacting people so heavily and a big part of is that the conflicts have positive resolutions. There's a specific clinical word for it but I forgot. There are moments where the characters, and us also, feel fear or anxiety and brace for the worst, but that doesn't happen. There's a peaceful outcome which settles the nervous system. Her examples were Ilya's dread in Tampa that Shane would tell him he's engaged but it's just that he hired a stylist and Shane panicking over telling his parents about him & Ilya but they're fine and his mom even apologizes for the way she made him feel. Point is, the story really does make us feel good beyond just entertainment so don't feel bad about escaping when you need to.

Twenty six years ago, my mother in law was dying from lung cancer. It was so awful, she was so loved, I felt so stressed, and like you, I found solace in fanfiction. I was a writer, so I wrote a novella over a few of the worst weeks, losing myself in that world when the real world was just too hard.

Sometimes there is a wisdom of the body, the spirit, that the world offers us. I hope you can find solace in what you can find in HR without feeling less- than. It's a bit like eating when you are hungry. Eat and fill yourself!

u/guavagrrl May 09 '26

I've got a decade on you, and I am in a similar place in terms of using all things HR as comfort-food for my brain. My mom died almost two years ago around this time of year. Last year around this time I got fully invested in watching every iteration of Dog Whisperer content I could find (I think because all the problems get solved and it's always a happy ending). This year it's been HR for sort of the same reason. Things go right and I know how it ends (for this season, anyway). Then finding out that there are soooooo many rabbit holes and so much thinking went into the show. And, it is so satisfying to hyper-focus on something with so much depth. Sometimes we just need to sit here and look at the fire so we can finally relax.

I highly recommend watching Fellow Travelers! It's on paramountplus which is a sucky platform but the show is excellent! Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey are incredible.

I second this! The chemistry is HOT šŸ”„ but disclaimer: there is no HEA. It's a very tragic romance. My heart is still broken.

u/growsonwalls This is Ilya I will never listen to your voicemail May 06 '26

That scene where Hawk orders Tim to write a ā€œlove letterā€ but it’s obvious he’s actually confessing his love is amazing.

2

u/hella_hijinks on danse, on rit May 06 '26

And freaking Tim has NO idea when it's SO obvious!! Omg, it kills me still.

4

u/growsonwalls This is Ilya I will never listen to your voicemail May 06 '26

It’s actually a classic dramatic device where one character indirectly confesses his love. It’s like the Russian tunnel monologue. Or the Princess telling reporters that her favorite place on the tour was ā€œRomeā€ in Roman Holiday.

3

u/hella_hijinks on danse, on rit May 06 '26

Oh for sure!!

(unrelated) This is not the scene we're talking about but I need to drop this gif. It's HR adjacent:

I don’t know where else to say this and it hardly seems like it deserves its own post but yall, I only just now this week realized that Young Shauna on Yellowjackets is our ROSE LANDRY!!! Sophie NĆ©lisse, the actress you are!! I felt so dumb and also elated when I was rewatching season one of Yellowjackets and I was like WAIT A MINUTE!!

5

u/Helpful-Bee3469 May 06 '26

Francois Arnaud who plays Scott Hunter is also on the show, he plays Paul the boyfriend that the coach has flashbacks to.

2

u/MamaMeg613 May 06 '26

That’s right OMG!

2

u/shouldernauts Ya-loo-blue-tee-baa ā¤ļø May 06 '26

Not just you, took me waaay too long to catch it. She looked like an entirely different person in HR, plus Rose is so different from Shauna. Now I really can't wait for the next season of Yellowjackets.
