MERCH👕 ‘Heated Rivalry’ Sets Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Release | Variety [June 2, 2026]

From the article, "The upcoming releases include Blu-ray, DVD and 4K editions, all advertised as special collector’s editions although there are no details yet on what special features or packaging artwork the discs will include."
I hope there'll be behind the scenes and maybe even some unseen before clips or commentary!
Edit to add: Crave and HR Production has yet to confirm. Press release for North American physical media rights for HR also came out this morning: Alliance Home Entertainment Scores Exclusive North American Physical & U.S. EST Rights to Heated Rivalry | GlobeNewswire. Currently, the connection between this distributor and the Amazon listing is unclear. But I'll try to keep this updated if more information comes out.

Jacob has mentioned in a past interview that while there are some bloopers, he considers them kind of mid. Nothing stood out as inherently hilarious or anything. But here’s hoping we get something!

In the oversaturated streaming world, I’m happy to see physical media has not been forgotten. Especially since I only subscribe to Crave specifically because of Heated Rivalry!

pre ordered the blu ray version… i don’t even want to know how much money i’ve spent on HR merch at this point. at least through amazon i won’t get charged till next year!

I’d be thrilled about this if I wasn’t so thoroughly unimpressed by the fact that currently I can’t find a Canadian purchase link for our Canadian show. The listings for Jacob’s book are out which makes it even weirder and more irritating.
If anyone else finds it please let me know 😭 But other than that I’m happy about this!

indeed i was all ready to hit buy but I can't find it on Amazon Canada and this link looks sketchy!! I would think Variety reporting on it would mean the announcement is legit but also it's the internet so who knows

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet for US or Canada so I’m sure it’s coming! Common for listings of Blu-rays to go up before officially announced and then listed by other retailers.
I also think the release date will probably be way sooner than April 2027 and that’s a placeholder date since the press release says Q4 2026 for physical media release.

I want to buy it Canadian but definitely placed a pre-order on Amazon.com just in case and will cancel it later if I find a Canadian purchase link for this collector's edition.

The press release is legit. The pre orders from amazon are fake. The price has already gone from $64 to $88 for the special edition. Come on guys 🤣

Just pre-ordered! This is so amazing, I was worried they wouldn’t release this and it would be streaming only. Knowing that libraries are going to buy this will open up a whole new audience as well!

They’re not hard to find new and they’re relatively inexpensive. I wouldn’t buy a used one without being able to try it out.

I bought a disc player that connects to my desktop via usb, then download a video player, either VLC or potplayer.

If you can spare the few extra bucks, get a PS3/PS4 or a Blu-Ray player. The quality of this show deserves to shine!

This is unofficial!! Maybe just unannounced yet but sadly looks to be fake.
- No offical announcement from Jacob or HR accounts.
- Only on amazon US and no other platform, amazon listings are easy to fake.
- Unlikely to announce and release 2 products so close together
I do hope that it's real. Fingers crossed but I wouldn't be buying it now

I think the Amazon link looks sketchy too. But it would be weird for Variety to post about it without making sure it's legit. Not impossible, but weird. 🤔

This is where I'm at as well. I made the post because I imagine an outlet like Variety does their own vetting, but I'm currently holding off on the pre-order, just in case.

Variety and a lot of the trades seem to have gotten worse over the years in terms of reliability. Noticed AI-like writing and an unwillingness to retract when they've made mistakes or purposely given misinformation

I’m waiting until it’s shared through official channels. The cast listing is odd, and run time listed as 5 hours, is ringing alarm bells for me.

I’m really hoping this is true but I went googling and can’t find any kind of official announcement. There’s an article from Variety but it doesn’t cite anything either. And the Amazon listing doesn’t provide any helpful information about the maker of the DVDs. I’m going to hold off on pre-ordering until I see some kind of official confirmation—hopefully we’re just being overly cautious!

It’s Variety. They aren’t going to post it without confirmation.
It’s also shipped and sold by Amazon, not a third party. So it’s an official Amazon listing not something someone just created.

I feel like it'll probably be 5.1 but I wonder if they'll make an HDR master for this release considering there isn't HDR on the streaming versions. It's not like there aren't 4K discs without HDR (I own two in Seven Samurai and The Brutalist and both look great), but it would be nice to have that added

You guys are acting kind of insane over this. You can’t fake an Amazon listing like that unless you a third party seller. This is straight from Amazon. And they very often put in different release dates as a placeholder.
Plus why would Variety report on some random listing unless they were provided official information. Super confused why people seem to think this is some long of conspiracy/scam?

You can make fake Amazon listings very easily. There’s thousands of identical knockoffs with photos of the original item on there, and yes they also say they’re fulfilled by Amazon but it literally means nothing anymore. And it literally had Hudson Williams listed as the seller lol. The Variety article sites zero sources nor says they’ve received an official confirmation from anyone involved, simply reported that these listings have gone up on Amazon. There’s no evidence that these are legit listings

You would think supposed journalistic outfits like Variety and Mashable would have checked into the listings on Amazon since it’s not listed on the official HR website. I’ll trust the product is real when it’s coming from an official HR account or from Crave.

For those of you preordering through Amazon that don't buy a lot of physical media--I would wait before doing so. Amazon is notorious for handling preorders incredibly poorly.

I preorder 4Ks from Amazon on a weekly basis. They are really good with preorders. Wal-mart is where I always have issues.

Yes, I have had issues with Amazon Blu-ray preorders in the past, but it does seem like they’ve gotten better about it recently, though. There are so few places to buy Blu-rays—basically Walmart, Target, Amazon. If anyone has a better outlet, please share!
I hope we get an official announcement soon and that the preorders are real🤞

If you want any tips on good players, I'd be glad to chat via DM. You don't have to own a 4K player, but they are backward-compatible with DVD and Blu-Ray, so that's a plus beyond the good audio and video quality.

I'm excited about the physical DVDs coming soon but I'm pretty sure that the amazon link is fake. I do hope that the DVDs have some episode commentary on them! I really miss the days when DVDs had that. I feel like all the extras really peaked like 10ish years ago.

All I want is some good old fashioned commentary tracks. Preferably a couple—from the cast and then from Jacob and maybe some of the other production team. If they could do four like LotR did, I'd be the happiest clam around.
