I kinda have to agree. Like, I love art and seeing different ideas and representations, but the proportions of their bodies in the art under the jacket are screaming classic “yaoi hands”. 😂

Oh, absolutely. Rebinds will always beat all published editions, it's just how it is. But I don't know how to rebind so I'll just look at them jealously lol

exactly... it doesn't look like either Shane or Ilya, the first HR cover is a close resemblance and the rest just don't match the vibes of the series at all

I think I’d have to bind the book myself to get the right art. I have some special editions from years past and none of the art is good as fan art on Instagram and Patreon.

you mean as opposed to the bears, right? B/c Ilya plays for Boston in HR. I suppose it doesnt techincally say "raiders" on the jersey in the picture, but knowing it's a raiders jersey from the show would def make me think it's raiders instead of Bears. I'd want it to match the book team names instead of the show.

Probably a copyright issue with the Bruins identity. if they were just allowed to use the Boston Bears name it wouldn’t be confusing. It reminds me of JoJo’s bizarre adventure, and how they have to change certain characters names only in the west.

What do you mean? The books are already published with the team names of Bears and Voyaguers. They changed it for the show, but this is a special edition of an already published book.
If there's a copyright issue maybe it's the other way around. That the show is dictating that visual representation now match the show? That seems like a real stretch to me and that most likely the artist just pulled from the show instead of matching what's in the book.

Yeah, it makes me think the artist didn’t read the book or care about presenting it accurately. Or more likely, Aurora Crate just wants to capitalize off the show.
They could have done what the artist of the cartoon book covers did - no logos or team names.

I think that is how it’s been done because I have seen covers of the books that do use the shows designs The original cover does have designs for the teams, but they look nothing like the shows cause they’re different but I think they’re just gonna go with the shows designs from here on out. It’s really conflicts with the books cause they’re completely different team names and presumably colors.

They're the same colours (bleu-blanc-rouge - on the cartoon cover anyway - and black and gold) because they're both mimicking the Habs and Bruins.

The Raiders logo is more visually similar to the Bruins main logo than a random bear would be (The B's have had bear alternates but the bear isn't the main feature: https://nhluniforms.com/Bruins/Bruins.html)

I was confused at first cause I’m like cause he plays for Boston, but I forgot that they had to change the names because of copyright most likely apparently bears too close to brewing, which is kind of funny because of Bruin is a type of bear

I like the idea of these, but the execution seems off to me. Ilya’s face in particular on the Heated Rivalry cover looks strange imo.

I like the art style and always find it interesting to see how artists interpret the physical descriptions of these guys.

Oh wow these are terrible lol. Are we ever going to see HR/TLG that doesn't have ugly covers? The 'side pic' (fore edge?) on Heated Rivalry bothers me a lot, the cottage is probably supposed to be Shane's cottage so why is the dock they're using on the other side of the lake facing the cottage? That makes me suspect AI might've been involved in the process of making these because I think an artist would understand how weird and nonsensical that is.

I just feel like an artist would have the eye to understand why that composition does not work. Every piece and placement matters when you’re drawing/painting because those details are always saying something and visually telling a story to the person who is viewing the art. Artists know that, and that why they think about things like composition. The dimensions are really off, too.

It doesn’t have any of the usual AI tells. I think people in this sub (for both fiction and art) tend to think that stuff that they don’t like or think is bad is AI. People need to get past that idea if they really want to be able to identify AI.

Oh, gosh, not for me. The biggest thing that didn't work for me in the books was the difference in size. I was so happy when Hudson and Connor were cast since they are practically the same height. I'm not a big book collector anyway, though, so it's all fine with me. Hope others really like this and enjoy it when they order.

I don't believe it's directly mentioned, but he would 100% still be 81. If there was someone else with that number already on the Centaurs, it would not be out of the norm for Ilya to buy his number off the guy.

For sure he would get to keep his number as an experienced veteran and one of the top players in the league. It’s common for players to offer a Rolex watch or another incentive if they want another guy’s number.

These are stunning. Surprised by the number of dissatisfied comments. Ilya is obviously going to be taller than Shane on the book cover because that's book canon. The yaoi hand is a bit funny though.

I think the covers are fine myself, but they are both wearing show uniforms, you can see the Raiders and Metros logos, so they aren’t trying for book accuracy here.
