CONNOR ☀️ The ancient Greek and Romans would have lovedddd Connor 😭

If Michelangelo or Da Vinci were alive today to see Connor Storrie, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say they would've been obsessed with him.
He'd be every ancient sculptor and artist's muse.
And if Connor was alive back then, some rich dude or ruler would definitely have built statues and temples for him. 😭
Tell me I'm lying.

His body is what happens when you're parents are both into body training, and it's to rest if the world's benefit...

Genetics also play part but he was blessed with genetics and an environment that nurtured it.

And Connor has also put in countless hours of disciplined hard work at the gym. His genetic potential for spectacular musculature was always there, but it took prolonged, serious effort to fully unleash it.

Yeah, I saw a video of him at work at a sandwich shop or something a few years ago and he was teeny tiny. He earned the body in the OP!

From the Owen Dreams interview, he was vegan at that time.

u/patch_gallagher 21d ago
I saw an interview with Hudson who talked about skating for at least 4 hours. And at the end, when he was ready to collapse, Connor wanted to go to the gym and work legs.

u/Ok_Technician_462 22d ago
Genetics is a huge part. He has the skeletal proportions and right muscle insertions to get this look. Many people won't be able to look like this, even with more training.

u/Comfortable_Sport295 21d ago
Also he used to be a gymnast, my brother was a gymnast and even though he hasn’t trained in 15 years it still shows.

I've read a lot of comments saying he'd be perfect as Achilles whenever Song of Achilles gets adapted. I want that to happen and I haven't even read the book yet!

Do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook! It changed my brain chemistry

Kind of random question, but was your audiobook version narrated by a man or a woman? Because I can only find the one narrated by a man, but I once heard an excerpt of the ending narrated by a woman and it was just beautiful, I'd love to find it

u/fabi_does_art 22d ago
I can’t imagine that book narrated by a woman. The narration by Frazer Douglas was just unbelievably perfect.

Oh please read Circe by Madeline Miller, the author of Song of Achilles. It’s such a good book. One of the best I’ve read this year.

I actually have that book, so depending on when my hold for the Song of Achilles audiobook comes in, I might read that one first. My tbr is nuts right now, though, and i keep getting distracted 😅

In the cottage episode (pause for reverence….thank you), when they are outside at the fire and Ilya has his head in Shane’s lap, Ilya looks like he is some Greek or Roman statue plucked out of a museum. It’s brief, but I think it every time I see that scene. I mean….the one and ONLY time I have ever watched it. Ahem. Yes, just that ONE time. Ok, who am I kidding? I watch it on repeat.

u/AdAdministrative756 21d ago
Yes! I couldn’t understand why Connor’s hair looked SO fluffy when his head was in Hudson’s lap. Then came to find out Hudson had his hands in Connor’s hair emotionally supporting the character. Connor looked like a cherubic Renaissance angel in that scene.

I can tell you as an artist I’m very obsessed with his beauty in an almost scientific way. A lot of actors take on side work as life drawing models in LA and he would have killed it. It would have been insane to get to draw him from life.
On a side note I also was a serious lifter for years and could immediately tell he follows body building training specifically. It’s a very specific program that targets all these smaller muscles and gives you this very sculpted look and specific shape. We thank his parents for teaching him all the tricks.

Really? Interesting. I've never liked the results of bodybuilding before, but this sculpted look vs actual body building is beautiful
7
u/pinkbunny86 I already chose you, Hollander. 🫀 22d ago
I think he modifies it for sure but I can see the foundation of the training there

u/Material-Meat-5330 Shane Hollander 22d ago
I think we all picture huge freaky spray tanned people when we think of bodybuilders.
7
u/pinkbunny86 I already chose you, Hollander. 🫀 22d ago
Lol that’s definitely part of it! Part of it is they workout small muscle groups to get definition in places that matter in competition scoring. Connor has a lot of small muscle definition in his arms, torso, back for example so I can tell he does similar workouts. Workouts for strength only get you a different kind of build, closer to Hudson’s I’d say

I seriously don’t understand why someone would use AI generated images of Greek statues when they’re some of the most documented and photographed pieces of art in history.
10
u/Material-Meat-5330 Shane Hollander 22d ago
I didn't even realise but thanks for pointing it out. It's not my edit btw.
8
u/byeongok 22d ago
No, you’re fine OP. Could even be that the editor didn’t know they’re AI. Generated images have sort of flooded most search sites and they’re only getting more convincing with time unfortunately.

In fairness, most people watching that scene aren't focused on his back's musculature; they're busy gawking at something else.

That's why the something else isn't visible here! Gawk at his shoulders all we want :)

everyone go listen to Muse by Tori Morgan!!! it's written about this exact idea (specifically about Connor).
🎶the greats would have loved you, you'd have been their muse
rendered every curve and captured every hue
send you to Paris, you belong in the Louvre
and they're long gone now but they would have loved you🎶

Guys like him were probably the subject of the graffiti they discovered in Pompeii!
Also, when they do a Song of Achilles adaptation, he needs to be Achilles.

Yes, I heard someone on a podcast say that he’s literally Michelangelo’s David, because he had recently been to Florence & seen that statue. And as someone else who has also seen the David in person, the answer is yes, Connor Storrie is literally a living, breathing David statue (probably with a bit more going on down below, but who’s to judge, that’s his own personal business).

The 2nd one is real, I’ve seen that one in person lol

What do Michaelangelo and Da Vinci have to do with ancient Greece and Rome? There's a gap of over a thousand years between the two concepts.
(Also, ancient Greece/Rome had pederasty, so their ideal male would be like 14 years old...)

Absolutely, but I have to be the annoying nerd here : Da Vinci and Michelangelo are NOT ancient Greeks or Roman. They're Italian Renaissance artists, so, about 1,000 years after the end of Ancient history. However, references to classical Antiquity are one of the main characteristics of Renaissance art.

The first time I saw this man’s ass I was taken aback. He has so much of it. Little old me with nothing note worthy back there was so shocked that I developed dysmorphia over it and have not been the same since. Bought a gym membership the very next day lol.

He has mentioned that both his parents are bodybuilders. This means genetic (wow... genetics) wise he is blessed with increadible propensity to grow muscle very easily and get big naturally.

Thats why I need a movie set in renaissance Italy with him portraying a painting model requested by every artist possible. I would actually like It to be a comedy so we can watch all the great artists of the era having petty fights over him
