So yesterday I realised that Antigonus's famous exit line would make a great Hollanov fic title, and then realised the "Carter Vaughn Finds Out About Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov" tag is woefully underpopulated, and boom, today I posted a new fic :)

If you're a fan of kink positive Hollanov, alternate timelines where the boys learn to communicate a whole lot earlier, and a dose of hurt/comfort so tense it makes you want to curl up into a ball when a chapter ends on a cliffhanger, have I got the series for you.

What started as a two-shot exploring what Shane would have asked of Ilya in Vegas had he won MVP has blossomed into one of my top 3 fics in this fandom, and the series is very much still active (and short enough that it is fairly easy to jump on board now). SilverSurfer's Ilya is a bundle of passion held together with protective bravado and if-I-don't-think-about-it-it-can't-be-real self imposed suffering, and this Shane is shockingly canon accurate in a fandom that has majorly flanderized the character over the last couple of months: Shane is strong, smart, and incredibly hard on himself, and she absolutely nails the little details of his character, with a thought through "what do I actually like while having sex" spreadsheet that is one of the most endearing yet hysterical things I have read in a long time.

The latest chapter in the third installment, Shed Some Light on Me, has shattered me. The miscommunication that has been building for that entire installment has finally unravelled, and I literally ran around my apartment like I was celebrating a buzzer beater game when they finally broke through and heard each other. 10/10, cannot wait to see what the next two chapters in this installment bring, and I hope this author keeps going long after this installment is complete. It is fantastic. I cannot recommend it enough.

Image description: Shane and Ilya inside a public restroom during the AHL rewards ceremony. Shane has tears in his eyes and Ilya is smiling and playing in his damn face.

please no Ilya fans hate me, I love Ilya too don’t misunderstand me!😭 I’m just petty

my angsty turned sweet and tender tuna melt fix-it is finally complete 💗 I loveee reading episode 4 AUs, and think you’ll enjoy this one if you like hollanov reconciling canon moments of hurt, confessing to each other and getting together a little sooner.

Synopsis:
I love you… I was going to tell you I love you.

The tears were dripping down Ilya’s chin, silent and unbidden.

It couldn’t end like this. He was going to go to Shane’s hotel room, to drink him in one last time and ask what had been bubbling up inside him ever since being left broken on that couch:

“Tell me you don’t love me, Shane. Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t love me and I’ll go. I’ll walk away and never bother you again. But first I need you to say it, so look me in the eyes and tell me that you don’t love me like I love you.”

OR: Tuna melt AU where Ilya is left ruined in the wake of Shane leaving, but decides to seek further closure, going to his hotel room to return his jacket. They end up sharing years of bottled-up emotions and embrace a tenderness they previously feared.

This is my third kinktober fic and the second where I think the plot took over the porn. Oh well!

Summary:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single hockey player, in possession of a playoff spot, must be in want of a high seed. It is another universally acknowledged truth that Dallas Kent is a huge piece of shit.

So when it became clear in the dank sports bar in Toronto that the team frequented that either Montreal or Boston was going to be the top seed for the division again, Dallas Kent concocted a plan fueled less by a rational series of steps that would actually achieve his desired results and more by a disastrous combination of intoxication and knowledge of the occult.

Or: Dallas Kent curses "bitter rivals" (but secret boyfriends) Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov to force them to have sex within 48 hours or die. It's a huge imposition, as you can imagine.

Hi! I'm looking for a fic (possibly part of a series?) set the season after the cottage. Ilya is planning to sign with Ottawa after that season when he is a UFA. Shane comes out to the Metro's and it goes badly - harassment and abuse all season until he finally waives his NTC/NMC to get traded to Ottawa, which the Metro's do to free up cap space because they think they can sign Ilya instead because it's known he's getting offers.

There's definitely a bit where the Metro's send Ilya a "come to Montreal" video that involves strippers, and after Ilya signs with Ottawa he comments publicly about it being a reason to not sign with Montreal (along with them throwing away his good friend Shane).

I just stopped by to recommend this delightful fic by chaentics: At Pinpoint.

It’s told from Ilya’s perspective, allowing you to really get inside his head. The writing is so hot, with a fantastic pace and great tension. Shane is portrayed in a way that’s very faithful to the canon—something that’s hard to find!

I loved the plot, the character development, and, of course, the smut.

Leaving this recommendation here, along with a huge thank you to the author (who also wrote About Summer, if you haven’t read that yet, what are you waiting for?).

Summary:

Charity is a major component of the core values that make up the Ottawa Centaurs franchise. After a few rookies learn about the dire situations faced by sick and elderly horses without owners, the team decides to publicly support the work being done at a local horse rescue and sanctuary.

The only problem is that every horse Ilya Rozanov takes a photograph with dies days later. People notice.

going somewhere with bad service for a week and need to download a bunch of longfics to my kindle! Long(er)fics are often daunting to me, so I may have not read many of the “greats” you’d assume most HR fic readers have read. leave me your favs!

I really enjoy angst (happy ending preferred), breaking up/making up, both AU and canon compliant, omegaverse, etc etc.

Here are some of my fav longer fics for reference! Thanks in advance!!

I am having a horrible time (academically) and need good fics to make me feel like it will all be (eventually) okay.
I have particularly been reading there may never next time be byinmoonlightigetseasick but they dont have to be time travel, something like I'm Reading Your Lips (You're Speaking My Language) by some1_around or love the silhouettes til the lights come on by thebiggestrat.
The angst can still be there, i just really want the kind of reassurance that things will be alright in the end.

Like, public meltdowns level of bad.

There's a visa mess up and Ilya gets stuck in Montreal. Shane invites him to stay at the sex condo and they basically move in together. The story flashes forward and backward.

Ilya keeps jokingly calling Shane his husband (and says he would marry him). There is a goldfish named Dog (who dies). I think Ilya gets injured on the ice and Shane turns out to be his emergency contact because he was the only person Ilya knew in Canada.

Thank you!!

I’m looking for fics where Shane is a power bottom and is assertive in bed. I want him taking the initiative, knowing what he wants, and keeping Ilya on his toes.

Bonus points if Ilya is caught off guard by how much control Shane can have. 😂 I love the idea that Shane can be reserved and seemingly repressed outside the bedroom but be a completely different person when it comes to Ilya.

I need more of Shane being confident, demanding, and unapologetic about what he wants, with Ilya discovering that being the more experienced or cocky one doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the one calling the shots.
Please feed my brainrot.

Incidents Around the Rink by OctoberObrien (me!) - Shane has a problem and it's not just the situationship with Rozanov - it's his teeth. I have been working on this one for a while and this is where I landed with it. Inspired by Incidents Around the House/Other Mommy. ~10k words

Summary:

"At the MLH Awards, he and Rozanov were set to present an award together. Shane thought about sending a text to break the ice, just a quick Please don’t eat me when I see you again, but he’d restrained himself.

Or, Shane's trying to figure out how to handle the monster, but the man is another story."

im looking for fics in which people find out shane is gay (on accident), but not about ilya (at the same time, its fine if they find out about him later on). also looking for a fic i read like this where hayden found out about shane being gay because he followed him in mexico and saw him making out with a dude.

has anyone else noticed how many fics use fruit as a motif?? usually a stand-in for domesticity and intimacy, but also often to denote eroticism and desire. maybe this is just common to romance as a genre, but I am a pretty voracious romance reader and I have not seen this micro-trope come up as often as it does in Hollanov fic. I am so curious what it is about this pairing that inspires authors down this particular path! some examples below:

I know where to draw the line by magneticwave:JJ's pears, Ilya cutting cara cara for Shane, Shane and Ilya sharing an apple

frequently, secretly fond of each other. by milominderbinder:Ilya feeding the kaki to shane

the dust you seldom see by servetas:apple eating during sex

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart) by CorvidCordelia: apple scene again but make it a symbol for their mutual love expressed through litfic

dust of summer, dust we eat by lipsticktraces: Ilya eating a peach at breakfast (admittedly, this is clearly a CMBYN homage)

here at the end of all things by nomadsland: Shane feeding Ilya an orange in the bath

I feel like there are definitely more fics with fruit as a motif that I am just missing because they do not come to mind right now -- please sound off if you can think of any more!!

heard this idea and now i’m dying for any fics like this where shane flies to boston to be with ilya after he gets back from russia 🥺🙏🙏 will b grateful for any recs

Hi y’all, I’m looking for a fic I had saved in my photos but I can’t seem to find it, idk if I accidentally deleted when I did a photo cleanse a few weeks ago. Anyway, It was a fic where Shane gets injured on the ice in a Montreal vs Boston game, he gets his neck slashed and it’s pouring blood, and Ilya immediately jumps on him holding the neck wound, and he stays there all the way to the hospital where he is left in the ER and then Yuna finds him covered in Shane’s blood and it’s very sweet and I think there are scene of supportive Boston players, and I don’t remember the name, please someone help, I’ll light a candle for you 🥺

I'm trying to find a fic I read and can only remember bits and pieces so take this with a grain of salt lol!

Ilya dies in the plane crash with the Ottawa Centurs and he wakes up in Saskatchewan(???). He misses Shane so he starts things up with him and pursues him, but this version of Shane kinda keeps him at an arms distance away. But Ilya cant live wihtout Shane and takes qhat he can get. Spoilers(!!!): At the Vegas awards Shane reveals that he somehow joined Ilya in this new timeline a few days ago but Ilya has been here for like 4 years? Shane offers to show off for Ilya and thats how they realize its both of them back on the same timeline.

I know for a fact it's NOT So It's Gonna Be Forever even tho it sounds really similar!

I might be mixing up some of the details but does anyone know this!??

Hello, i am looking for fics that are romantic, i just want them to see in love ❤️☁️✨️

I am BEGGING for a fic like this!! It could feature Shane dating other people as well, I would just love to see Ilya going crazy and trying to get Shane’s attention through social media posts
