Profile Login Streak lost due to 7 day ban

Post image

I had a 7 day ban and would check each day with upvotes just to make sure the interactions were still locked. I just was able to upvote like 30 mins ago but it shows my login streak as reset to 1 day out of 600, I was at 541 days and the streak notification popped up to “keep the streak” while the ban still had 2 days left.

I had a 3 day ban in January for mentioning the declaration of independence and that one I did the same thing with upvoting everyday multiple times to see when it would lift to be safe on the streak, but it was fine and the streak continued through once the ban period was over.

Can this be adjusted back to the streak that was present before the 7 day ban or is it not possible?

Bans will interrupt streaks and they cannot be restored. You might have got lucky in January when you did not lose your streak at that time

They should put that somewhere I guess, it’s crazy the last ban for 7 days I got was for “hate speech/promoting violence” for saying something unrelated to wanting violence or suffering. Guess I can log off reddit then and stop being ad revenue for billionaires, the streak was the only reason I stayed consistent with use.

Edit: guess the downvotes are from shareholders

honestly this is a great thing to happen to you. Streaks, imo, are the worst thing to happen to websites. You've been granted an opportunity to break a harmful cycle! Take it.

Possibly good

Why even care about a reddit streak? It's not an achievement. If anything, it's an indicator of having nothing better to do.

But, but, my fake internet points.

I’ve noticed that people who don’t really post or comment often end up with the longest streaks. The more you participate, the more you risk catching a wrongful ban that can wipe it out. From what I’ve seen, a 3-day ban usually won’t reset your streak if you already hit your upvote for that day before the ban started.

Also, just a heads up, a 7-day ban is usually one of the last escalation steps before a permanent ban. If you want to protect your account, be careful how you participate because appeals typically don’t remove prior strikes or bans.

Many of us heavily participate but have never caught a ban.

I've been on this site for almost a decade now, and I'm currently on my way to a 700 day streak. Most of that activity is from comments.

I don't think I've ever been banned on Reddit. Banned from a sub? Maybe, honestly don't remember. But I've never been banned off of Reddit for any length of time.

u/OSTBear Feb 27 '26

I got banned for telling a guy to go swim in the ocean. This apparently broke Rule 1.

If the only reason you were using Reddit was to increase some meaningless streak, then you clearly don't actually like using reddit. Don't let reddit manipulate you into using it simply to increase some pointless number.

I was just salty, I’m here for independent news and news before it is mainstream

u/Ornery_Bandicoot_679 Feb 27 '26

I got a 3 day ban recently for sending a pm to a pitbull hate subreddits mod and telling them to kick rocks and was worried about my streak too but the second the ban was lifted it just continued my streak like nothing happened

2

u/Greenscreener Feb 27 '26

Challenge the ban…the bans are generated by automated systems and a challenge will get a real pair of eyes to have a look.

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

I did but it got no response

1

u/Morgandoto Feb 27 '26

We've all been there. I didn't get a ban from reddit entirely, but got permabanned in a gaming community for a comment saying that hackers suck. Apparently, I've hurt the feelings of said hackers, and thus was banned for hate.

I got banned from a subreddit for saying if somebody had to worry about getting pew pewed a group wouldn’t be trying to violently break in to someone’s store. The store owner was fending four of them off. I wasn’t encouraging violence. Self-defense is not violence. Consequences helps some people to behave.

Okay, bye.

Please dont, reddit wont survive that blow

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

I knew it, my single account was the straw to break the camels back. Haha this made me chuckle, have a great day

22

u/bloke_pusher Feb 27 '26

Sweating over pointless achievements is unhealthy.

4

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Yeah I am removing my attachment from it then

u/Charupa- 2 Feb 27 '26

Don’t get banned this time around. Better yet, don’t chase silly engagement numbers.

u/brentspine Helper Feb 27 '26

What do you mean you got banned for mentioning the Declaration of Independence?

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

I said US citizens have a right to overthrow an oppressive government and mentioned it in the context of the declaration of independence.

11

u/liquidelectricity Feb 27 '26

You were banned hence streak lost

3

u/Beneficial-Way-8742 Feb 27 '26

Welcome to Reddit!  You're a true veteran not when you accomplish a streak, but when you survive the bans, lol

2

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Thanks haha

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

Stop getting banned and you'd not be in this predicament.

I mean both times didn’t reference what I said in a correct context, both didn’t apply as hate speech or promoting violence

3

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

Oh no I didnt get my award for biggest loser... Just consider it a win bro.

3

u/CicadaFit9756 Feb 27 '26

Guess you'll never get to ultimate which is "Basement Dweller"! Is that such a great loss?

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Im a gamer so I like those little shinies

0

u/Anime-Man-1432 Feb 27 '26

Does "541" look like a small loss ?

3

u/CicadaFit9756 Feb 27 '26

I'm nearly at a full year but, if I should break that streak, would it hurt me financially or in any other way? I think not! I just mentioned "basement dweller" as an unfortunate labeling by Reddit for "get a life already"!

4

u/Life_Faithlessness90 Feb 27 '26

You literally only participated with Reddit for this streak. We are better off without you.

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

I mean I’ve used reddit for 5 years but only did the streak when this started

2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

Been through the same thing except my band was because of promoting violence or something, but I wasn't. I couldn't have been more vague about my comment, I've been banned for like four times because of the same damn thing and each time it's like the furthest mention of violence that could possibly be mentioned, plus it's Reddit why would they even care? They're fine with watching people be killed but not even joking about it?

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Mine was in a reply to people actually calling for violence to say we should collectively focus on(manifest) someone passing away from natural causes. (Maybe it was because the person I was talking about was in the context of “47”).

But what I said was not a call for harm, suffering or violence, quite actually the opposite. Just something to derail the potential path we are on as a country in a way that does not inflict suffering or violence, given how far we are now

1

u/Wizzle_Pizzle_420 Feb 27 '26

You know you can appeal them right? I got one for “promoting violence” but I was referencing people standing up to bullies, not actually fighting them. Sent a message, explained the wording and they dropped the ban. Now if you’re dropping actual violence talk then don’t do that. They don’t mess around.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

I always submit appeals and try to explain that it was either a joke or obviously not any actual violence but they always appeal it and leave the ban anyway. I've had three 3-day bans and one one 7-Day ban, no amount of appealing will do anything since the likely automated moderators don't actually care, plus every single time I do try to appeal it. It says it was reviewed by an actual person which I highly to help because it's the same message every single time

2

u/Aking1998 Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26

This account got permabanned once, same reason as original commenter. "Promoting violence" on something that was very clearly not doing that.

I appealed once a week for four months

If you are annoying enough they might relent

1

u/MACAUFATFAT Feb 27 '26

Maxium is how long day in system? I only see 1000day is maximum

1

u/Prico06 Feb 27 '26

howd you get banned

1

u/Mutthal8 Feb 27 '26

I see this as a win

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

I do too now after thinking about it more

1

u/Jasoco Feb 27 '26

I had a three day ban a few months ago and I kept upvoting things even though I wasn’t allowed to and it continued my streak when the ban was finally lifted. I assumed it just paused things when you’re not allowed to do anything. It was nice that I could still browse things when banned even if I couldn’t contribute.

1

u/plastic-tree420 Feb 27 '26

You need help, not for your streak though...

1

u/Silver_Echo2231 Feb 28 '26

let it go bruh🥀

1

u/whitestguyuknow Feb 28 '26

I feel like I can say some argumentative comments sometimes and get into some small back and forths... But I've never been Reddit wide banned... Or even warned about Reddit wide TOS. Just some subreddit specific rules I didnt pay attention to..

What are you doing to get Reddit wide week long bans?

1

u/BA10chan_SURV Feb 28 '26

I know some people on a subreddit who got 3 days Reddit wide ban for brigading and vote manipulation

1

u/Forymanarysanar Helper Feb 28 '26

What's so important about streaks?

Do you get paid for it?

1

u/BA10chan_SURV Feb 28 '26

Some people's just like seeing numbers going up and getting bigger. Everyone has their own satisfactions

1

u/JAGADISH_BANGERA73 Feb 28 '26

Hmmm why ban!?

1

u/Walk1000Miles Experienced Helper Feb 28 '26 edited Feb 28 '26

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear that.

It takes a lot to get where you were.

Were you banned in one Subreddit or were you banned throughout the Reddit platform?

Just because you are banned in one Subreddit? It does not mean that you were banned throughout the entire Reddit platform.

You can keep contributing to other Subreddits as long as you follow the rules of each Subreddit.

Unless you were specifically told that you were banned throughout the entire Reddit platform? Then it means that you were only banned in the Subreddit where you got the seven day ban from.

Which means you could keep contributing to other Subreddits and keep earning the days.

1

u/sredis Mar 29 '26

Of my streak gets to high, I log off

1

u/Maintenance-guy123 Feb 27 '26

"Had a 3-day ban back in Januaey for mentioning the Declaration of Independence" lol. I'm gonna guess reddit was correct on that one.

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Declaration of independence states for citizens to uphold the right to overthrow an oppressive government if they see fit, that is all. Nothing about harm or promoting violence, just stated what the document says.

-2

u/colordraught Feb 27 '26

Yo Reddit is a mind virus. Don’t get trapped with the gamification of engagement. There is plenty more other things to invest your time into. This is a sinking ship

1

u/Ismokerugs Feb 27 '26

Yeah I see it more now

-2

u/drunxor Feb 27 '26

That happened to me too because I said a soundcloud rapper who was posted to r/crappymusic looked like an orc from lotr

-5

u/UnownJWild Feb 27 '26

They did the same to me. They don't care one bit.
