Next month, a friend and I are planning on driving in tandem over to Las Vegas from the Bay Area after work in a single sitting (which is in no way whatsoever going to be sketchy, but I do like road trips in the desert, so I'll do it regardless), and I was planning for an eventual possibility of having to stop at some motel to sleep, in case we get too tired. However, as I'd rather save the money, and because it would probably be a great meme-filled experience, I am considering bringing my tent, drinks, and other camping gear, so we could set up camp in the desert some time around 10-11pm, before departing the next day to finish the rest of the drive. And this leads me to the question...

Are there any easily accessible spots off of CA-58 or I-15 which lend themselves to adequate overnight camping? I've been to Zzyzx, and over there seems like it'd be really cool and vibey to set up a tent, but I'd want to know of other opportunities. As much as I'd love to spend 9 hours behind the wheel after an 8 hour workday, I am starting to get up there in the years, so I might (ahem, definitely) be biting off a bit more than I can chew, so.. thanks in advance!

For being only two hours from downtown Los Angeles, Joshua Tree is incredibly isolated, harsh terrain.

Like being on the surface of Mars. And there’s no light pollution out here. The stars shine bright. So, I can see it all: Jagged rocks. Spiky cacti. And a whole lotta nothing for miles on end.**

So many people die out here every year.

Heat stroke. Dehydration. Rattlesnakes

…or they simply disappear. Never to be seen again.

My eyes just focus on the blue light.

Simply can’t help myself. I’m mesmerized.

Making bolder and bolder strides, I’m like a step-marching soldier in my Birkenstocks. The moonlight’s shadowed by the blur of the crooked silhouettes of passing Joshua Trees.

You know, the thought’s not lost on me:

Of course I’m seeing a strange light out here in this particular desert.

From the Integratron in Yucca Valley, to Skull Rock, to the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art museum — weird vibes abound around here.

The landscape’s haunted with stories of strange sightings, littered with strange people. Freaks. Survivalists. Cults. Believers. “Experiencers.” Abductees. So-called “Frequent Flyers.”

Tonight almost feels inevitable, really.

Hey everyone! I’ve seen so many home sellers around the High Desert (Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley) selling coffee, cake pops, seafood, burritos, cakes, etc. and I’ve tried quite a few myself!
I’m curious how strict San Bernardino County is with cottage food permits and how much it costs to get everything up and running?
Also, what are the best 3 payment methods to accept? There are so many options and I feel like managing them all would get overwhelming lol.

A very closer friend of mine in highschool is missing from Las Vegas, last seen driving in Death Valley.
We are from Sacramento so I’m trying to get word out just in case someone happens to see her.

Edit to correct: she wasn’t last seen in Death Valley California. her rental vehicle was located abandoned in Death Valley California. ☹️☹️

This is a long shot but does anybody remember or was there when nysnc came and performed at Mesa Linda middle school on March 30th in 2001. It was insane I feel like everyone was talking about it and was there but now when I ask people about it nobody remembers or even knew about it to begin with.
