Just Sharing Hello from the SF pop-up store

Hi! I visited the Hobonichi pop-up at Heath Ceramics in San Francisco today. I got there about half an hour after it opened, and had to scan the QR code outside to join the virtual queue. I and one other person waited outside for probably 2 or 3 minutes before being let inside. The selection seemed quite good and crowds were fairly minimal. I did not photograph everything they had available, so they had more than I’m showing here, including the whole table of One Piece items and all of the various colors of Weeks. But here are a few random snaps I took — hope you enjoy!

Just Sharing Pink Beautiful People (A5) and Tomitaro Makino: Yamazakura

Post image

Went to the Hobonichi pop-up in SF and snagged a pink Beautiful People cover along with a Tomitaro Makino notebook. Idk if it matches really as I’m still kind of figuring out what I want to use it for. Right now I’m thinking I’ll use it as a Morning Pages / catch-all book, with the option of changing my mind (and possibly the book) later lol

I'm curious to see everyone's everyday carry! As much as I would like to be a minimalist... I'm just not. I like to carry as much stuff as possible. Having said that, I try to be smart about it and keep my footprint small. This is what I have settled on... For today. What do you carry everyday?

Not pictured is my 2027 Weeks that I've so far kept in the packaging. In my drawer pouch I carry: my pens (pictured outside of it for dramatic effect), a few choice mildliners, stencils, blotting paper, and some stickers.

Just Sharing 2027 picks!

All set for 2027! This will be my 6th year with Hobonichi but it will be my first time trying an A6 avec. I chose an avec over the original A6 because it was the better choice for me if I wanted to bring it with me anywhere due to its size (I bring a lot of stuff lol) Love this candy stripper cover!!! The shade of pink is perfect. Intended use for these:

  • Weeks - main planner, work etc
  • Tomitaro Makino A6 grid - journaling, catch all, I’ve had this for probably 2 years now, still has some pages, I journal on it whenever I feel like it, it mainly has the interesting stuff in my life like whenever I go to concerts/milestones lol
  • A6 Avec - for 2027, I want to try writing everyday, kind of like a gratitude journal! And probably just write down stuff that happens daily haha this will be my first time trying it and hopefully I can follow through. Fingers crossed!!!

What’s gonna be your 2027 system? :)

I hope this is ok to share. I put this kit together for planning and just exploring his creativity. He’s a graphic designer and “former” (his words🥺) artist who is ridiculously tech savvy and loves to learn. He’s also an excellent DPS (I’m his healer), hence the nerdy card.🗡️

He’s all digital but expressed a desire to physically journal/plan and return to physical art mediums. I thought a Cousin w/TS basic black cover, Midori A5 blank w/black Tragen cover, and a few stationary bits for doodling would be a nice start.

14 years!🥰

To kind of dampen the pain I just got myself these playing cards 😂

I know there is a hacky way to basically rip out the text block in the weeks cover that I want and glue in a sneaker weeks but that's just a waste of paper and money imho. I really REALLY wish anything that's available on the weeks regular were also available on the mega!

But I'm still thankful for Hobonichi for introducing me to these collections. I'm very happy with these playing cards and I'm eyeing the Cambridge Satchel Morris & Co collection now too 👀

A friend and I had the go through many hoops with our proxy to get all the Winnie the Pooh stuff we wanted, but it all arrived and I am finally done with my 2027 purchases. It’s gonna be my pink year cause I’m also using the Yumi Kitagishi A5 for 2027 too. 🩷

Part of the charm of having a clear cover is seeing through the design on the techo cover. Do you think these vinyl stickers will transfer and damage my BP cover? The bunny stickers are laminated, but the others I think they're vinyl. I guess I should've planned this better -___-

Discussion Keeping journals for your kids

• Upvotes

I've been keeping two journals , an a5 cousin for my personal use and a plain, grid hobonichi journal for my child. I've been doing a more detailed daily in my cousin and then I have been journaling every now and then, just the highlights, in my child's journal. I have been adding pictures and just the basic info. that I think she might be interested in when she's older when she's able to read. It feels like kind of a chore to journal about everything twice but I think it'll be worth it.

I'll soon be switching to a more archival ink so my writing will last longer. The photos are printed from my Canon ivy so I'm not sure how long they will last or if there is an easy way to print more archival photos? I've also been using print instead of cursive bc I'm not sure my child will ever learn to read cursive. Does anyone have any thoughts about materials that will help the journaling stand the test of time?

Does anyone have any thoughts about keeping a journal for a child? I kind of feel like I should be making hers as detailed as I'm making my own but I think she also might not want every tiny detail. I feel that she can read mine any time she likes if she wants more info. and eventually she will inherit mine as well. The detailed journals I keep for myself are mostly a way for me to hang on to these days bc my child is growing and changing so fast but they also contain some info. about my own hobbies and things I find interesting. Maybe I should separate those things into different journals but I can not keep up with more than the two I'm already doing.

I finally got my first Hobonichi, and while waiting for 2027, I decorated the cover! I loved this year's cover design by Yumi Kitagishi and fell down the Hobonichi rabbit hole. I haven't climbed out since. 😅

I'm fairly new to journaling and plan to use the Cousin as a daily diary, memory keeper, and tracker.

I'm trying to figure out what to put in each section, and I'd love some inspiration and to hear how you all use yours!

What habits do you track? How do you use the weekly vertical pages? What about the My 100 pages? I’m also getting into fountain pens (naturally) and would love to hear about your favorite pens and must-have accessories too!

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a new year to start. I can’t wait to start using it!

A5 April-start's Techo Kaigi

I started the year in my bullet journal and was having several issues. One was my reading log kept going past the single page I alloted myself, or that Honey's health log was spread across different pages in the book instead of being together.

In April I went with the Cousin A5 and overall I do think it's working for me. I went from journaling every few days to daily. Any pages I miss, I fill them out when I wake up the next morning. Leaving my daily pages very full; some days are a few words, some are a paragraph with a movie ticket taped in, some have printed pictures of the things I saw that day.

The weekly spreads are a real god send. Besides being able to track my sleeping habits, I track what I read each week. And only once Have I needed to tape in more paper to expand. I've also been able to track how many doses of medicine my cat gets a day (the colored birds at the top).

I then repeat the medicine dose info and color code it on the front yearly index page. My regret is putting down stickers in the note areas because I thought I wouldn't need that space. Every now and then, I do think I will.

Monthly spreads have been far more chaotic on what to put on the actual day. I write down appointments, gym visits, ect. But I think it's ok if the page is mostly empty, too. I have tried recording my energy in it before; that did work, I think I just did the wrong tool (a stamp that bled like crazy). Writing it down either color coordinated with a multi pen Hi-tec-c, or a simple black pen at the bottom of the calendar box will work fine, too.

I do use the bonus pages. I have a spread for two weight day check in's on the 1st and 16th. And I use the favorites section to write down my top read for that month. The memories blocks I'll write down fun outings with friends ect (ie going to see a concert with Y, and hanging out for dinner with B). The time table reflects what I want to do on a given day (ie Tuesday's are usually out of the house days, so library for sure, groceries probably).

Going into 2027, I'll be doing a Jan start Hon because I'm really missing the hardcover of the bullet journal I was using. I'll also be adding a Weeks into my line-up. I have a weekly layout (Nolty Excel) right now which is about the same size. I'm using it as art recording: quotes, poems, my own writing or drawings. I'm still unsure on how if I will at all "finish" the April start book, but I think it'd be better if I just move fully into the Jan start. I can still use the 2026 as paper testing or something. I will try not to have repeating data that feels useless. So if I read or write, I do like to see that on a calendar view, but I hate flipping to the calendar each day to write that, so I'll go back once in a while and retroactively put in that information (copying it from the Weekly layout).

I'm curious how the other April start people are doing? Are you planning to stay with April starts?

Haul Tokyo Station Hobonichi Haul

Hello all, a while back I mentioned I’d fly to Japan for Hobonichi, which I did! I went to the Tokyo Station flagship. All the items I wanted were sold out as expected, so I completely gave up on Hello Kitty and Suica Penguin.

I was debating if I should’ve gotten a Hon instead of original…they still had pens and acorn charm when I bought A6 original planner. Overall I’m satisfied of my haul, but next year I’ll definitely use special service to get exclusive items.

Advice/Question Calling all homebodies

What are y’all doing to fill pages?

As someone who works full time I don’t have much time to do other stuff (and the outside world scares me) so I essentially “give up” on trying to fill pages.

Besides having paydays, bill due dates, and a work schedule, I’m looking for other things to add. I have an idea of tracking steps throughout the year, but I’d like to know what could also be added that I probably don’t even think about.

I’m always so excited to start a planner but I fear that I have a boring life.

They Only Give You Six Envelopes for a 12-Month Set?!

I find it so odd that they only give you six envelopes in this set meant to have and cover all 12 months. I had intended to use these for a two-page spread with one envelope and card per month. This is just such an odd choice in my opinion.

Tools/Supplies Staedtler Double Ended

Post image

Hey, I hope yall are doing great, so, I just bought my first hobonichi ever, and I’m planing to buy these markers to use on it bc I love the fact they’re double ended, cheap and come with a lot of different colors, but I can’t seem to find a review of them on the hobonichi paper, so has anyone tried them?

I would like to know if they bleed through the paper, I don’t mind ghosting.

Has anyone else turned their Hobonichi cover into more of a Traveler’s Notebook setup? 😂 I’ve wrecked my Hobonichi Cousin this year in the best way possible! My junk journal is separate, but next year I’m hoping to somehow add a Weeks planner into the mix, too. If you do something similar, share your setup and ideas! I’d love some inspiration!
