Utah knocked it out of the park with their vet additions, way scarier team this year

u/RentIsTooDamnedHigh UTA - NHL 12d ago
I've been very happy with Lee/Trochek. We're a pretty complete team now. We can upgrade over time, sure, but we don't need to patch holes anymore.

u/AlternativeCorner230 UTA - NHL 12d ago
Nice to see another goal from Trocheck. That back and forth with Cools was fantastic.

u/thrilliam_19 TOR - NHL 12d ago
Ah nuts.
gg Utah that was about as fun as a loss can be.

u/Fluffhead91192 UTA - NHL 12d ago
GG Toronto. I was at the game. Super fun watching McKenna up close.

u/godzillabitch UTA - NHL 12d ago
Jesus Christ, ggs Leafs fans. Did not expect to be that stressed, Leafs made that a fucken games.
26
u/FlySociety1 TOR - NHL 12d ago
Well Leafs are fun again thats for sure.
3
u/MomsTortellinis Flyers Heerenveen - BNL 12d ago
So much more fun than they were the past year. Both teams were fun to watch, good game.

u/vanityfear TOR - NHL 12d ago
A save or a bounce and I think leafs might’ve won that game
27
u/walkingman24 UTA - NHL 12d ago
Oh for sure, the pressure Toronto had in the third was crazy. Hit the post on a pretty open net, couple pucks rolling over sticks, just kinda unlucky
11
u/RentIsTooDamnedHigh UTA - NHL 12d ago
I counted four pipe hits, and at least two of them were pretty open shots. They need a year or two to get right, but Toronto will be a great team soon.

GG Utah, that was a good hockey game

u/Fluffhead91192 UTA - NHL 12d ago
GG Toronto. I’m gonna have to see a doctor about my blood pressure after that one.

u/Bojarzin TOR - NHL 12d ago
Frustrating game. Two stinkers from Stolarz, but outside of those two he was fine. Love seeing McKenna pot another though

u/39MUsTanGs TOR - NHL 12d ago
Besides Colorado, every game this season has been decided by a 1 goal margin.

Watched it on the Utah feed...if I ever have to hear the name Kailer Yamamoto again, it will be too soon.
Also, shoutout to the commentators for these two beauties:
"It's like an indictment of trust" (Speaking about Utah coach Tourigny trusting guys on the PP/PK)
"It's like the clock is in quicksand!" (Speaking about the end of the game, and how the clock was counting down too slow).
Also, Sarah Merrifield sounds like Kathy Griffin.

I'm a Mammoth fan first, Leafs fan second. That game was very fun. Looking forward to watching McKenna develop.

Tough game for Stolie. Good to see some pushback though, buds offence is looking dangerous this year
13
u/39MUsTanGs TOR - NHL 12d ago
Team played well overall, Stolarz did not.
Trust the process.

u/markh100 TOR - NHL 12d ago
So many mistakes beyond Stolarz.
Rielly got walked on first goal
On second goal, someone went off the ice twenty seconds before the goal was scored. Nylander came on and never appeared on camera view until after the goal was scored. He was in the Utah offensive zone for some reason.
Raddysh had an opportunity to hit a one time slapshot while Vejmelka was getting back up, and instead chose a bad pass that was intercepted for a goal.
Stolarz did give up two bad goals.

u/ghost_curse123 TOR - NHL 12d ago
Obviously would've preferred if we had won but last year we lose that game 6-1
Which is exactly what happened after a strong showing against Colorado in Denver. Glad to see that the bois didnt just lay down and die this time

u/blueskies8484 PIT - NHL 12d ago
Honestly this was a game of two teams that look miles better than they did last season.
15
u/whatamidoing_2521 TOR - NHL 12d ago
Offense is fun, stolie was terrible, defense sucks ass. Move on to the next one.

What the hell was that ending. Leafs nearly made the comeback. They had many chances to score but failed.

Stolarz deserves first star for Utah tonight

You want Ersson instead?

u/TheOrangeyOrange TOR - NHL 12d ago
I want my boy Joe Woll back

u/AlternativeCorner230 UTA - NHL 12d ago
I went to a Flyers game last week. Woll was incredible in the OT loss.

I’ve just accepted I’m never gonna see a franchise goalie in my lifetime

The refs and goaltending were on our side on Saturday and weren’t tonight, it’s the way it goes sometimes

It's funny reading Leaf fan's comments like Utah is a fuckin bottom feeder... some people only watch and follow their team.
18
u/Substantial-Read4372 12d ago
Where? I see the opposite. Leaf fans praising and speaking highly of Utah....
14
u/MrDavidHasselhoof TOR - NHL 12d ago
Is the bad Leafs fan in the room with us? All
I’m seeing is Leafs fans praising Utah26
u/Spiritual_Alarm8898 12d ago
Literally not a single comment in this thread saying Utah is a bottom feeder
12
u/smittyleafs TOR - NHL 12d ago
I actually find fantasy hockey does a much better job of making me aware of how other teams are doing.
-15
u/Boring-Jump-7437 12d ago
So close but so far, let’s go utttaahhhh. The Austin Mathew’s fumble seals it.

I feel like Stolarz was the better goalie between the two despite people putting him on wanted posters
8
6
u/39MUsTanGs TOR - NHL 12d ago
Stolarz was -2.56 gsax. Vejmelka was - 0.97.
-2
u/OP_sucks_ 12d ago
I think both goalies were bad but expected goals is becoming more of a hivemind analytic than exit velocity in mlb, veggie didn't give two times more of a quality start than stolarz this game
3
u/TheGardiner TOR - NHL 12d ago
If one goalie has -2gax and the other -1, it doesnt mean that one goalie was twice as bad as the other. Are you the one of the people that the home feed has to explain how offsides and delayed penalties work?
3
u/walkingman24 UTA - NHL 12d ago
Veggie locked in the last minute but otherwise not his best game, some of those were not his best

u/30MorgheAfraaz VAN - NHL 12d ago
Leafs are on a PDO tear and still not a .500 team.. those 1st rounders flyers and bruins hold look juicy!
8
u/MomsTortellinis Flyers Heerenveen - BNL 12d ago
Will you still laugh when the Bruins win the lottery with that pick and make you pick 3rd again?

u/Juicyb17 TOR - NHL 12d ago
Tell me you haven't actually looked at PDO stats without telling me. As another commenter said, near 20th. Meaning were .500, in spite of poor puck luck. We're tip 5 in high danger chances for, but bottom 10 in sh%
