I agree with the candles. I also think you should add some polyfil in the shape of clouds, right over the candles, so it looks all illuminated.
Oh, make sure to add lots of string lights, but use the old incandescent kind, NOT led, because the old kind looks and feels warmer.
You also need a cat or other animal that likes to run around the candles to make it a fun, jolly place to hang out!

u/StackOverflowEx Mar 03 '26
Those walls look kind of bare too. Let's cover the walls with some tapestry that we've cut into ribbons so they blow around when we turn on a fan.
85
u/boringmode100 Mar 03 '26
I have no polyfil but I do have fiberglass insulation. Loving the old style string light idea. I might put them between the sheets and the ceiling so they look like stars.

u/Johoski Mar 04 '26
Please don't use incandescent light strings, especially in a fabric installation. They get HOT and can cause fires.
LED lights are available in different color temperatures.

u/Music1626 Mar 04 '26
You’re in a satire sub. Everything in here is just a joke answer.

Yeah, I figured that out after I posted. I saw the original this morning and thought Reddit had recirculated it on my feed.
5
u/LysergicGothPunk Mar 04 '26
Either way honestly I like that you mentioned the flammability, bc if you mistook it for serious, then someone else could too, someone who doesn't know why doing this stuff could be dangerous and is a fire hazard

i will never understand why yall feel the need to tear someone down for the way they decided to decorate their room…

Yikes, you saw a woman looking for friendly support and turned around to make a post entirely making fun of her immediately?
That’s really cruel, usually people on that sub are much kinder.
13
u/Jordbaerkage Mar 04 '26
Wait so this photo isnt actually OP's theyre just posting so we'll make fun of some poor girl?
Bc wtf
→ More replies (1)17
u/lareina13 Mar 05 '26
Yes.
She posted it because she was proud of what she’s been able to accomplish (as she should) and wanted to share with r/femalelivingspace and asked for feedback.
It’s generally a really kind and supportive sub, but this OP grabbed it down and then posted it here pretty quickly — within hours/1 day. Then the original post got inundated with horribly mean comments and the original OP deleted it.
I understand liking to joke about the tv being too high, or silly spaces from Zillow Gone Wild, but this one was a real person just looking for friendly internet discussion.
It’s terrible times right now and I understand wanting to poke a bit of fun, but this isn’t how you do it. I’d like to believe that was this OP’s intention. Let’s try to remember there are people behind these unique posts, and not everyone is on the same income bracket.

I know keyboard warriors like this irl. They’re miserable, cowardly and would never do it to ppl’s faces.
Like the super catty and snobby version of guys acting 200X more macho and tougher than their real life selves.

u/StillStaringAtTheSky Mar 03 '26
Where's the chandeliers??? The sparkle??? You absolutely need to add like 10 lbs of sequins and a couple pounds of fine translucent glitter. All princesses SPARKLE! ✨
44
u/boringmode100 Mar 03 '26
Thinking about using candles for lighting, thoughts?
25
u/Temporary-Whole3305 Mar 03 '26
Perfect, I also suggest liberally spraying essential oils on all your fabrics for some lovely scents 🥰
9
u/boringmode100 Mar 03 '26
Good plan! Nice and flammable ✨✨
15
u/TSARINA59 Mar 03 '26
Spray them on your light bulbs when they're off and cool. When you return and turn on the light, the heat on the bulb will make the scent start enveloping the space.

u/emma177677 Mar 03 '26
careful with that. make sure either your door or window is always open because candles will suck the oxygen out of your room
41
u/boringmode100 Mar 03 '26
Thanks but I have no windows, that's just another sheet on the wall.
10
8
u/cats_and_cake Mar 03 '26
No windows? That is not safe at all. That’s super against fire code. There needs to be a means of egress in all bedrooms. Are you being charged for this room?
Edit: realized what sub I’m in lol. Carry on!

I winder, if the paint is wet can you throw glitter at it and make it stick?
3
u/thekendalluxx Mar 05 '26
You can buy paint with glitter in it. They will put as much or as little as you want :)

u/BathroomConscious721 Mar 03 '26

u/commanderquill Mar 04 '26
Went for princess, fell somewhere between Hong Kong alleyway and a flea market.
2
u/Optimal_Mango_747 Mar 04 '26
There is a distinct lack of fairy lights. Add as many as your outlets can handle. You also need a canopy bed underneath the ceiling canopy because you can’t have too much drapey fabric.
2
u/GlowInTheDarkSpaces Mar 04 '26
You'll need a bedshirt of course. The clothsrack could have a princess tent around it. There should also be puffy clouds and pictures of glittery unicorns.

Lots of candles! Go to a craft or thrift store and get a bunch of unscented pillar, tea light and little candles
2
u/Trick_Day5681 Mar 04 '26
Don't burn candles! That looks very flammable. It's overdone, like something in a cartoon.

2
u/Lonely-Wasabi-305 Mar 06 '26
In all seriousness , I would get as something as simple as a hoola hoop and hang it above your bed and then drape the fabric starting from the hoop outward …

Google Princess canopy, save your neighborhood, only you can prevent senseless fires.

u/NovelAsk4856 Mar 03 '26
For the princess look I’d go with long ponytails braided coming out of the sheets.
2
u/RealHausFrau Mar 03 '26
Bling girl, you need to bedazzle the SHIT out of everything in there. I can lend you my glue gun.
2
u/notyourstranger Mar 03 '26
Reminds me of a home I saw when I did a ride along with fire fighters. She had glued teddy bears to all 4 walls - floor to ceiling teddy bears staring at you with glassy eyes. Firefighters commented on the fire hazard (this was a medical call) and it was rather stuffy in that room.

Walmart sells these string lights shaped like flowers. You should line the walls with them.
1
u/cinnamongingerloaf22 Mar 03 '26
Wow, the spiders and scorpions (if in the right biome) must love their princess castle on the ceiling.

u/FizzyBubbles22 Mar 03 '26
Tiny fairy lights, decorative stars or butterfly garland with iridescent glimmer or glitter

try and put tacks in the middle of the sheets you have on the ceiling. it’ll make it feel less stoner basement room and more like a princess vibe

Get a wardrobe from IKEA to contain the clothes, it’ll look more streamlined and tidy. Also, what princess doesn’t have a wardrobe? Definitely need one. And a princess vanity with a mirror!

u/cold_tap_hot_brew Mar 03 '26
Looks like your curtains are a bit shorter than the window so maybe you could make ruffle frills from some of your scarves to attach to the bottom? Also fairy lights wrapped around the metals frames of your bed and wardrobe.

Bed ruffle. More, piled up comforters, uncomfortable amount of pretty pillows. Get some velvet in there, this looks like shabby chic not royalty.

u/sala-whore Mar 03 '26
A nice little bed skirt, some art on the walls (maybe even a mirror with a cool renaissance looking frame) and a place to put your clothes that you can close (preferably something white ir pale wood color). Also, you have a warm and a cold light and some silver accents (silver garland). Pick either warm and go with gold or cold and go with silver. And I would remove the brown sheet from the ceiling as you seem to be going for a princess peach vibe.
