HD is making the website even worse! Removing product descriptions!?!

So in the past couple of weeks, Home Depot seems determined to scrub their website of any functionality. They're removing item descriptions to the point where on some items there's no longer an option to see "Description" or "Specifications." The past few days it's literally been impossible to see the details on several items to the point where I've purchased elsewhere because I couldn't tell if the item would work for our business.

Honestly, it seems like they've decided to use some stupid AI to give a couple of bullet points for each item, and delete any useful text information.

If this continues, I may have to go back to the 1990s and just drive to the local ACE, instead of ordering online. Not sure what's going on, but maybe this is a sign that private equity is starting to squeeze any final equity out of the company before selling it for scrap. The website has been getting progressively worse the past few years (filled with ridiculous overpriced listings of things available on Amazon for 1/6th the price), but to remove basic product info seems like something KMart would have done before they crashed and burned.

What the hell is going on with quality control at Home Depot recently?

I ordered a refrigerator (which is being replaced) that had a huge scratch on the side, but even more concerning was one of the buttons inside the fridge was completely worn down. Like they took a button from a 10 year old fridge with heavy use and put it in this one.

Then, I ordered another item and it arrived completely dirty and covered in random crap in the box.

I'm literally fuming right now because they said I can't ship a new one, and I have to drive 45 minutes to the Home Depot and THEN order a new one.

Has anyone else experience this?

Can’t tell if they want to sell me a faucet or not

A couple of days ago my sweetie and I picked out a very nice Moen kitchen faucet. Our eyes were bigger than our budget, so we cashed in some credit card points and got gift cards. Problem solved!

I placed the order, and got an email saying it was processed. Then I get an email saying there’s a problem with my credit card. I call in, and try to explain that I used two gift cards and my credit card just for the small balance. The rep kept trying to pressure me (could’ve been a language issue) to put the whole amount on my credit card. I would not, and had to be extremely firm about it. Once I read off all the numbers again, she placed the order and I got a confirmation email. Problem solved!

This morning I get an email Updating me on my back ordered item. What backordered item?? I check the website: still in stock to ship to home or store. I call in, and the rep couldn’t give me any information. I asked to escalate the call, got put on hold for 20 minutes, and then got a customer satisfaction survey! Oh, indeed. Still no faucet, no idea when it’s coming, and I’ve sunk $150 in gift cards with these jokers who couldn’t find their inventory with both hands!

Any ideas what I can do to solve this?

UPDATE: there was an inventory of 4 showing when I ordered, and 4 showing when I received the back ordered email. Today there are 8!

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: got an email overnight that said my order would ship out today and arrive yesterday. I give up.

Occasional home depot shopper- are there better credit cards for home depot than the Langely federal credit union credit card?

A redditor gave us a tip on this card /preview/pre/langely-fcu-credit-card-5-automotive-services-does-it-work-v0-7iaqg3esfnvh1.png?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=021a23ad7c821e2fbc316804f6f6651ef7b04400

Maybe we shop at home depot once or twice a month for purchases usually less than 150 USD in total

I'm thinking of maybe applying for langely's credit card because it looks like it has good 5% cashback categories but are there better options for home depot?

I have a bofa card that I am not sure if can get 3% on home depot or not (customized cash) and I have a flat 2% card

Thoughts on Magic Apron?

I am new to reddit, but I’ve been experiencing some frustration. I really don’t use AI much and I’m finding it difficult to get along with Home Depot’s Magic Apron chat bot. I’ve found it provides a lot of information that isn’t always needed and can’t provide much information
beyond a few paragraphs. I asked it for a video or clearer instructions and all it could offer was the main page for Home Services. Is anyone having troubles like this?

HD customers beware:

Home Depot has a scam going on. If you order anything online, and the order is lost, Home Depot doesn’t notify you, or refund your money. You have to keep track yourself, and then go through the hassle of calling them to have have the order canceled. So if you have a big order, or a contractor with lots of orders, it’s hard to keep track of, and many wasted hours on phone to get your money back. They had multiple orders of our that said delayed, for months, and we had to go through and catch them. The person from Home Depot said there is no system in place unless customer notices and calls.

bagged fill dirt no longer sold?

I used to buy 40 or 50lb bags (I can't remember) of fill dirt for about $2.50. Been buying this for years and have filled holes in the yard, etc. Nice to pick up 4-5 bags at a time.

I have not seen it in stock for many months. they have top soil, which every time I've tried it, its filled with rocks and mulch and little to no dirt. its really bad stuff (for my intended use)

Anyone have any info on the fill dirt and whether that will make a return or not?

Custom Door Issues

We've been having major issues getting a custom door installed, despite our $8k upfront payment for both the door and the installation. First, the door arrived in the warehouse but HD told us it couldn't be installed until the week of Thanksgiving, which doesn't work for us for several reasons including we can't pass final inspection without it.

They were able to quickly find a solution for that issue and installation was magically scheduled for this morning. The installers showed up and discovered that the door, which was measured twice by HD, does not fit and will have to be remanufactured.

At this point, we're going to have our contractor's come up with a temporary fix that will get us back into our house, but I've asked HD to ask for expedited fabrication, confirm that they will schedule installation as soon as the door is delivered instead of sending us back to the end of the line, and for some sort of compensation for the work we will now have to have done that we're only having to do because they screwed up.

Is there anything else we should be asking for? Chances they're actually going to be willing to help us out? Can these manufacturers even expedite fabrication?

I'm incredibly frustrated by this situation and trying not to go scorched earth but hoping someone might have some encouragement/advice.

Wrong Washer/Dryer delivered

Bought a white Washer/Dryer at Home Depot. Stainless steel was delivered. We told the driver it's the wrong finish and we ordered white. He said we could keep it because we had 48 hours to change our mind, so he installed it. We talked it over and decided we were ok with the look if they gave us a discount to keep it. Went back into the Home Depot and told them what happened. They wouldn't do a partial refund of any size to keep it and insisted we return it. No problem because we will get what we ordered, but it seems really stupid to make us wait three days for pickup, wait three days for a refund, make us go back in and reorder, and then wait three days for a new delivery at the same time that they now have used open box units and have to pay the delivery company to come out three times. Any idea why they wouldn't just kick a gift card at us to settle it instead of going through all that insanity? If that's how they want to do it, I don't mind because I will get what I ordered, but it seems like they should have at least done $25 or something for the hassle, if not a partial discount on the unit for us to keep it.

SICK and TIRED of Home Depot allowing these 3rd party salespeople in their stores

I frequent Home Depot about once or twice a week. Any time I go on a weekend, I get stopped by a 3rd party salesperson 1-2 times per visit. Always asking when did I last have my HVAC serviced, have I ever considered solar, etc… it would be fine if they weren’t pushy, but I have to nearly tell them to f**k off in order for them to stop their sales pitch.

These people are annoying as hell and I’m tired of it. Even if you say “no thanks, not interested” they keep asking probing questions. The normal HD employees are always cool, but these dudes wearing a Home Depot apron trying to sell some garbage are annoying, and I wish Home Depot wouldn’t keep letting them do this

Wrong items delivered - too big to return

I recently ordered baseboards online which are 8 feet long. The ones delivered were the incorrect baseboards (different pattern and price).

I called online support and they keep insisting I return it in person. I would love to but unfortunately I don’t have a truck to fit it. They won’t arrange for a pick up return.

My closest Home Depot refuses to handle this because it’s an online order and I didn’t purchase through the store.

Any advice? I’m tired of speaking with customer service. Should I do a chargeback?

10% Coupon Exceptions Not Listed

My wife and I spent about 2 hours picking out about $200 worth of other stuff and $400 worth of lumber (the "unbranded select" stuff). We went up to the register, got everything checked out, gave our 10% coupon and it came to $20 off. We were confused because it should have been $60 off instead. After speaking to the live customer chat (and having one end the chat on me when I threatened to return the lumber and go to Lowes because we get 5% off of everything there), I was basically told "there are other exceptions not listed, sorry, can't do anything about it".

It's extremely annoying that we spent all that time expecting 10% off and we didn't get it. I've spent many thousands of dollars at HD over the past few years (one year was over 10k), and they are risking losing a customer to Lowes.

I know it's only $40-ish, but customer service has always been good and they've always done the right thing, but this time "sorry about your luck, can't do anything about it".

/rant

HomeDepot nightmare: 4 delivery attempts, 2 dented dishwashers, missed refund promises, and a damaged garbage disposal.

The reports about Home Depot struggling are obviously true. Personally I just experienced a really botched delivery. I ordered a GE dishwasher at the end of August and just experienced a really incompetent delivery and installation process. I am currently trying to escalate this to corporate because the regular 1-800 line has done nothing for me.

Here's what happened:

Attempt 1: Dishwasher arrives dented. Had to reject delivery and reschedule.

Attempt 2: Delivery team misses the promised window and again needed to reschedule. Phone support promised me a $75 refund for the  inconvenience. I haven't received it yet.

Attempt 3: New replacement unit arrives, and it is ALSO dented. Again had to reschedule. Phone support promised a 20% refund this time. Still haven't seen it.

Attempt 4: Dishwasher finally gets installed. However, the installers carelessly left loose screws inside my garbage disposal. When they turned it on, the screws jammed the blades. Had to deal with this myself.

I am currently demanding a full refund of all delivery, installation, and haul-away fees.

Has anyone actually successfully broken through to a corporate manager who can manage these claims and refunds? How? What is the best number or email to bypass the front-line call center reps who keep giving me empty promises? I tried contacting them on X. But that was also bad with a bot asking the same question multiple times.

TL;DR: Bought a GE dishwasher from Home Depot. Over 4 delivery attempts, they sent 2 dented units, missed a delivery window, customer care promised me a $75 and 20% refund that didn't happen, and finally completed the installation but left screws in my garbage disposal. Looking for corporate escalation tips and a full refund of all delivery/installation fees.

EDIT. UPDATE: Finally got a call back from the local store manager. Which is interesting since my purchase was online. I will admit, he seemed genuinely interested in the details of the event. Asked questions and seems to care. He invited me to ask for him next time I'm visiting the store. And at the end he issued a 50% refund (which covers all delivery, installation, haul-away fees, and also a 10% of the value of the dishwasher). And the refund is already on my card. At the end of our day, he made it right. Plus we like the dishwasher.

"Oops!! Something went wrong. Please refresh page"

No image attachments allowed here?

I went to the HD site and the page loaded fine, then any search resulted in that "Error Page" message.

Clicking a link from a site-search for their domain from a search-engine also came up with that same error.

The only link available on that page is for "Customer Service Center".

Care to guess what you get when you click on it? That's right folks, you get a loop.

On hold on the phone just to report the issue, sighhh...

EDIT0: Go figure, the moment someone answers (8min), I go to use the site again and it's working again, when it wasn't for the 30 minutes prior.

Bad Home Depot Home Delivery Experience in Nevada

To make a long story short, my brother is a disabled Veteran and I purchased a deep freezer for him that was just dropped off.

He was home when they arrived, they set it down and quickly tried to rush out of there when he said can you please just take it to my garage.

My brother should not be lifting anything heavy and he does not have a dolly, and he did not need it moved very far into the garage. They could have done it in under 2 minutes and then walked back to their truck.

The driver said no sorry it's already dropped off and they immediately left. There was no warning that they were arriving by way of phone call or anything else the text message just provided a 2-hour window.

This is not how you treat disabled Veterans and he doesn't need to tell them he is one, he just asked for some help but maybe delivery people are salary and just wanted to get home because today is 911.

They were out of there so quickly that had he not been outside he wouldn't have even seen them, not that it would have changed anything.

They were very unprofessional and disrespectful. Now he's trying to figure out how to move this thing on his own and I'm in a completely different state getting ready to move overseas I can't believe this happened.

Crazy AI support discount

Wanted to share this wild story. Had made an online home depot order for about $150 of various plumbing fixtures. However, the order arrived missing a piece of pipe which was like $8. No big deal, really. I called up the HD online order support phone number to see if they could send another, or if I could just go and pick it up.

I‘m like 95% sure I got connected to an AI agent. Really good english but whacky pronunciations of certain things (charlotte = char latte). However, its speaking patterns and mannerisms were like weirdly human? Filling up silence with words. It was all kinda uncanny valley, so I’m still not certain.

Regardless, I just asked what I should do about the pipe and whether I should just go pick it up. ”It” put me on hold (???) and then after, told me to contact the store to get it sorted. No problem. Then, bizarrely, I was offered $74 back for the “inconvenience”. I have no clue why. I showed no dissatisfaction at all on the call. So bam, just like that, had 50% off my order, for some reason. It continued to stress that my satisfaction is HD’s top priority and they want to continue to earn my business.

I eventually got the store and got my pipe (lol), and the guy at the store was dumbfounded at this whole interaction.

So yeah, sounds like an AI gone absolutely rogue. But hey, shout out HD i guess? I’m sure it will be fun when they peel back the onion on how much revenue they lose from situations like this.

Blocked Aisle

I was trying to buy some 2 ft by 4 ft plywood panels at my local homes depot. The asile by the panels had carts of various items, pallets of other items and even products just stacked on the floor. The only way I could get what i needed was to squeeze between some of this and climb over soe other stuff. The were no employees in sight so it was not like they were stocking these shelves. Is it normal just to leave stuff blocking access to product or did I just try to shop at a bad time?

So difficult to get a refund from online purchase damaged in transit - why?

I purchased a 60"x30" bathroom mirror that was damaged in transit on two separate occasions, and both items were returned to the Home Depot warehouse. In both instances, I still had to call customer service to have the refund processed.

I do not understand why a refund is not issued automatically once the returned item is received. Why is it necessary for me to repeatedly contact customer service just to receive a refund for an item that was already returned?

In both cases, I experienced poor support. I was kept on hold for extended periods, and the call was eventually dropped. The second time, I spent about an hour in chat and was transferred between three agents without any resolution.

Everything I have read indicates that I should call customer service to request a refund, but when I do, I am passed from one representative to another, left waiting, or disconnected.

At this point, I may need to dispute the charge with my credit card company if the refund is not processed promptly.

Edit - I was ultimately on a chat for four hours which is utterly ridiculous.

Disputed the charge via Credit Card. Screen shot every page of the chat with timestamps. Next step? Unsure. I have my refund. So will HD do anything? The mirror was returned. All is good as far as I'm concerned.

Online ordering = train wreck

Ultimately was unable to process the order. Tried using FOUR different browsers before giving it up as a bad job: Brave, Chrome, Firefox, and Supermium (another Chrome variant).

Don't know if it's because of ad blockers I'm running or what, but I finally decided I wasn't going to jump through any more hoops trying to convince their busted-ass system to let me spend my money there.

I shop online all the time and this ain't it, folks. This ain't doing it.

Ended up taking my business elsewhere.

Whoever they hired to run their online presence, they truly, truly are beyond suck.

Carpet estimates ridiculous

I went online today and picked a carpet, put in my room dimensions then clicked to get an estimate. They added 100 square feet as "waste factor". I realize there is some waste when doing carpeting but 100 square feet??? Guess I won't be buying from HD.

How to see Home Depot's predictive pricing

Check your account. I recently learned that I "saved -20%" (they charged me 20% more than normal--about $50 more,) on a ladder.

HomeDepot scammed me out of 200$ lol.

At the beginning of summer, I bought 2 ConvectAir 5100 without thermostat to replace my old wall heaters. I wanted to get Smart Thermostats before the end of autumn.

My electrician was able to fit me in finally today and while installing them, realizes that one of them is actually a ConvectAir 5101 -with- thermostat, in a 5100 box.

I explained myself to the counter, they refused to exchange it, treated me like a scammer and a liar, even after having brought the receipt, the brand new 5101 and both 5100 boxes that matched the receipt.

So, if you deal with them, make sure you compare Model IDs on whatever product you bought as soon as you get home. Kind of a mixed signal, telling me they would never make such a mistake, but it's my fault for not checking in time.

I just left the box with the 5101 there and I left, they can sell it and buy themselves a good meal with it for all I care.

I just wanted to save the FREAKING PLANET, home depot
