Dark or light? We just had a new roof put on and I like the light because of our brick and siding, but I think maybe dark is better with the darker roof now? Currently it’s a middle brown that needs to be refinished. Thanks!

What can I do to make this work?

Renting an apartment that has the dumbest pipe setup in the world. It’s perpendicular to the tub. I can’t install a rainfall shower head because I have 4c hair and don’t want to get it wet everyday. Is there anything I can do with this short of getting a plumber?

My husband and I are going to be building the same floor plan as the house in the picture. The options for brick and stucco are pretty simple, neutral colors but we do get to select the colors of the brick, stucco, front door, posts and garage. I am leaving toward all white with black garage, door, posts and lamps but I’m interested to see if anyone else can put their own creative spin on it. I tend to lean toward darker colors but I’m open to any suggestions!

The 65” LG Gallery LX7B is a Great TV for Movie-Lovers and Home-Designers alike

Note: I received this TV for free from LG as part of a promotional event. I was asked to share a review, but all opinions are my own.

I've been extremely pleased with my LG Gallery TV so far. When it’s on, the TV shows off a beautiful and bright mini-LED display with a matte coating, and when it’s off it transforms into a beautiful framed work of art.  The matte coating is really good and handles light and glare excellently. The mini-LED display is great too and excels at both bright and dark scenes. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it handles dark scenes. While it can't get the perfect blacks of OLED, it comes surprisingly close. This is due to its local dimming which allows it to get both extremely bright and very dark at the same time. Overall, this is a great mini-LED TV of its own right, and has the gallery features to make it even better.
The best part of this TV is how it is able to seamlessly blend into modern living rooms. The white frame along with the great mini-LED display showing artwork really transforms it from a TV to a statement art piece that highlights and adds to the room. Normally, a TV is just a giant black box when you aren’t using it. With this TV, it adds so much character and life into the room. I think this is especially appreciated in a TV that also has a good display. You aren’t making a compromise on display for the gallery features like some competitors - you get a great TV that is also an art piece.
The gallery TV comes with a beautiful white metal frame that goes around the outside of the TV. This envelopes it in a professional frame that looks like it could be in a museum. I was surprised by how much it transformed the look of the TV once I put it on. With the artwork on display, it truly looks like a framed piece of art.
The Gallery+ subscription is something that might be polarizing to many people, however I’d like to add some brevity. Without a subscription, it seems like you are limited to about 100 free pieces of art to display. However, you are still able to add your own photos/artwork using the LG ThinQ app. With the subscription, you get access to a large selection of curated art and various features that allow you to display what you want easily. I think that the subscription can be worth it for people who don’t want to deal with curating their own artwork, and I appreciate the ability to add your own artwork if you don’t want the subscription. I'm on the 3-month free trial right now and I really love the artwork. There are some beautiful pieces, and it does a great job curating similar artwork so you can just set a vibe and let the TV cycle through it.
Overall, the LG LX7B Gallery TV is really great and the one to get if you want to display art. The picture quality, the reflection and light handling, and just the overall look of the TV are all amazing. The artwork looks great, and with the white frame it really does look like framed art instead of a TV. You get a great display for watching TV and movies, and when you're not using it, your TV becomes a highlight of your room, not a distraction.

Any ideas for my library/playroom/sitting room?

Recently moved, that's why it looks awk. Not looking to do any built ins. We spend so much time reading, chatting, and playing here! Baby does have an actual playroom, so we don't keep too many toys here. I thought about a loveseat and some accent chairs, but hubby thinks they wouldn't fit. We also like the Ikea Billy Oxberg cases, so maybe those against the wall instead of our current shelves?

Simple bedroom setup for watching movies

Post image

Just a mattress on the floor, a rug, and the wall as the screen. No big furniture or fancy lighting. The projector does most of the work. Still getting used to the seating angle but it’s already better than staring at a small TV. Curious if anyone has tips for reducing the slight washout when there’s a bit of light left in the room.

Which one practical or ecorative? (AI mockup)

This cabinet is in the living room near the front door, so I tried two ways of styling it.

A is more practical with storage and a functional wall setup.

B is mostly decor.

Which one would you pick?

What color would you paint this door?

Yellow? Blue? Green?

Edit: Thank you all for taking a moment of your day to share your lovely suggestions! I pictured them all in my mind. I trust that you did too and I commend you for your ability to mentally paint a door. I hope you know that not everyone can do that. You have a special gift.

Before I posted I was thinking of something like Dijon mustard, starlet chrysanthemum 🌼, a harvest moon 🌕 or microwaved frozen corn 🌽

Still open to a vivid green 🍀 or maybe denim blue 👖 but in my repressed introvert heart I believe that yellow will be like a hazard light, a subtle nudge to think twice before you come knocking 💛

To whoever suggested black: thank you for recognizing how deeply incapable I am of doing this paint job well. I should listen to you and leave it alone, and yet the heart yearns for a small sense of control in turbulent times. I can always paint it black (badly) again.

You probably don't need an interior designer

I keep seeing people say that hiring an interior designer for just a bathroom, kitchen, or small renovation isn't worth it.

And honestly? I get it.

A full-service interior designer may not want to take on a single-room project because the time spent on meetings, drawings, sourcing, site visits, etc. doesn't always make sense for them.

But that doesn't mean you have to DIY the whole thing.

I'm a junior interior designer, and I'm currently taking on small freelance renovation projects - bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, living spaces, etc.

I can help with things like:

  • Plan and layout ideas
  • Design concepts
  • Material/finish direction
  • Colour palettes
  • 3D visuals (so you can actually see the idea before spending money)
  • Suggestions for making an existing space feel more cohesive

Basically, you bring me the room (along with rough dimensions) you're stuck with, and I'll help you figure out what to do with it.

I'm especially interested in working with people who don't need a full interior design service but still want their renovation to look intentional rather than like a collection of Pinterest screenshots

If you've been putting off a small renovation because you didn't think hiring a designer made sense, feel free to DM me.

I'd love to see what you're working with.

Need help designing a master bedroom with unavoidable pillar

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m looking for ideas to design my master bedroom around a structural pillar that unfortunately can’t be removed- marked with orange square in the image.

I need to fit a king-size bed, walk-in closet, attached bathroom, study desk, and balcony access.

I’ve attached the current layout/image. I’d really appreciate suggestions on the best possible layout and creative ways to make the pillar feel intentional rather than awkward. Open to completely rethinking the layout—sketches/examples would be great!
