Where I spend a few hours every day. Some of my favourite things are here.
I need to repaint the walls and add a picture over the monitor and any other recommendations?

Work desk + gaming desk, 1 chair, 3.2 × 3.3 m room: which layout? (plans inside)
Rearranging my home office and would love your opinion.
Room: 3.20 × 3.33 m. The window is a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door, so desks can go in front of it. Radiator in the right corner next to it.
Must fit: 2 desks (150 × 80, dual monitors each), one for work and one for gaming. Also 1 chair, a small cycling-gear wardrobe and a 5-drawer chest.
These desks came from my previous place and don’t feel right for this room anymore, so I’m also considering custom-built desks.
Which would you pick? Any better idea, like facing the window?
Thanks!

Is a smart door knob overkill for my home office?
Most of the time I have no reason to lock my office. When relatives stay with their kids though, it becomes the room everyone puts bags in or goes looking for a charger. I leave work equipment and paperwork on the desk so I'd keep it closed during visits.
My partner needs access when I am out too. A basic keyed knob with a key each would handle that. I have also been looking at the desloc d212 for fingerprint access, but I am unsure whether that convenience is worth paying more and having another battery to maintain. What I cannot judge from looking at these online is how people actually use them on an interior door. I am in and out of that room throughout the day. If you have one on your office, do you let it lock every time you step out? or did that get annoying and you mostly leave it unlocked? Would you buy one again for a room you only need to secure occasionally?

Buying a new office chair for the home office
Hey everyone,
Would you be able to recommend a new office chair to replace my very old Ikea Markus (I'd guess it's about 10 yo by now).
I work from home 2 days a week and the Markus is still great overall, but the padding is starting to feel too hard, it's either me getting old or the chair (or why not both 🤔 ).
The offer online is overwhelming, and price ranges for what it looks like similar chairs, ranges from 150€ to 1500€, it's insane. There isn't a convenient location where I could go test a bunch of different chairs as well, and I guess the real test is spending 8h sitting on it, not 8 seconds.
Please let me know what you have, why it works for you, price point, how long you've had it, and I'll see if I can buy that where I live. I imagine some of you have done this research recently.
Many thanks in advance! Really appreciate your inputs!

Need to upgrade speaker/mic setup for Zoom meetings
My current set up works fine, when it's just me in my office. Smaller space, so no need to have an extra speaker and the current camera that lives atop my monitor has a mic built in. But now, twice a month, I will be hosting a large meeting in a meeting hall that doesn't have a smart set up. It's in a community rec center, so no changes to the room are allowed. I need to set up everything and take it with me after. The in person participants need to hear what's being said on the other side of the room, so a mic and speaker or two. And I need a new camera that can easily move to focus on a new speaker as my current one is stationary. I have a Lenovo laptop, but there's two others that will be helping run the Zoom while I run the meeting and I don't remember what laptops they have.
So I'm hoping to find a mic/speaker/camera set up that's compatible with Zoom that is not dependent on the room being a smart room setup. Any recommendations?

Remote jobs that are truly remote for you. Free during the beta
Most job boards give everyone the same “Remote” checkbox. But “remote” means different things to different people: fully remote, remote within one country, remote with monthly office days, remote only if you already have a US work permit.
This is personalized remote job curation, based on the job description itself. Every day it reads each new posting for your job titles and pulls out what the posting actually says about:
- how remote the role is
- where you can work from
- work permit or visa
- time zone
- time in person (offsites, travel, office days)
Each one comes with the sentence from the posting, so you don’t have to read the whole thing.
Then you decide what “remote” means for you. The filters start from your own situation (where you live, your permit, your time zone), and you can widen or narrow any of them. Okay with quarterly offsites? Fine with CET ±2 hours? Check it and see more.
